Siracide 51

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Ti celebrerò, o Signore, [mio] re, e loderò te mio Dio salvatore.	1 I shal give thanks to you, Lord and King, and praise you, God my Saviour, I give thanks to your name;
2 Celebrerò il tuo nome, perchè tu fosti per me un aiuto e un protettore.	2 for you have been my guard and support and redeemed my body from destruction, from the snare ofthe lying tongue, from lips that fabricate falsehood; in the presence of my assailants, you were on my side; youhave been my support, you have redeemed me,
3 E salvasti il mio corpo dalla corruzione, dal laccio d'una lingua calunniatrice, e dalle labbra di quelli che ordiscon la menzogna. E in faccia de' miei avversari divenisti il mio soccorritore,	3 true to your abounding kindness -- and the greatness of your name -- you liberated me from the fangsof those seeking to devour me, from the clutches of those seeking my life, from the many ordeals which I haveendured,
4 e mi liberasti, secondo l'abbondanza della tua misericordia [e la grandezza] del tuo nome, da' ruggenti [nemici], pronti a divorare,	4 from the stifling heat which hemmed me in, from the heart of a fire which I had not kindled,
5 dalle mani di coloro che insidinvan la mia vita, e dalle tante tribolazioni che mi circondavano,	5 from deep in the bel y of Sheol,
6 dalla soffocazione dell'incendio che m'attorniava, e di mezzo al fuoco ch'io non avevo acceso,	6 treacherous denunciations to the king. My soul has been close to death, my life had gone down to thebrink of Sheol.
7 dalla profondità del seno degli Inferi, e dalla lingua impura, dalla parola menzognera [sussurrata] al re, e dalla calunnia d'una lingua iniqua.	7 I was completely surrounded, there was no one to help me; I looked for someone to help me, there wasno one.
8 S'accostò sin presso alla morte l'anima mia,	8 Then I remembered your mercy, Lord, and your deeds from earliest times, how you deliver those whowait for you patiently, and save them from the clutches of their enemies.
9 e la mia vita era vicina agli Inferi qui sotto.	9 And I sent up my plea from the earth, I begged to be delivered from death.
10 M'avevan stretto da ogni parte e non c'era chi m'aiutasse; spiavo verso un soccorso umano e non c'era.	10 I cal ed on the Lord, the father of my Lord, 'Do not desert me in the days of ordeal, in the days of theproud, when we are helpless. I shal praise your name unceasingly and grateful y sing its praises.'
11 Mi ricordai [allora] della tua misericordia, o Signore, e delle opere tue ab eterno,	11 And my plea was heard, for you saved me from destruction, you delivered me from that time of evil.
12 e come tu salvi quei che sperano in te, o Signore, e li lìberi dalle mani delle genti,	12 And therefore I shal thank you and praise you, and bless the name of the Lord.
13 E inalzai dalla terra la mia supplica, e per la liberazione dalla morte io pregai.	13 When I was stil a youth, before I went travelling, in my prayers I asked outright for wisdom.
14 Invocai il Signore, padre del mio Signore, che non m'abbandonusse nel giorno della mia tribolazione, e nell'ora de' superbi, quando più non resta aiuto.	14 Outside the sanctuary I would pray for her, and to the last I shall continue to seek her.
15 « Inodorò il tuo nome assiduamente, e lo celebrerò con rendimento di grazie. » E fu esaudita la mia preghiera,	15 From her blossoming to the ripening of her grape my heart has taken its delight in her. My foot haspursued a straight path, I have sought her ever since my youth.
16 e mi liberasti dalla rovina, e mi salvasti da calamitoso tempo.	16 By bowing my ear a little, I have received her, and have found much instruction.
17 Perciò grazie e lodi io ti renderò, e benedirò il nome del Signore.	17 Thanks to her I have advanced; glory be to him who has given me wisdom!
18 Quand'ero giovane ancora, prima d'andar fuori di strada, cercai apertamente la sapienza nella mia orazione.	18 For I was determined to put her into practice, have earnestly pursued the good, and shal not be put toshame.
19 Dinanzi al tempio io supplico per essa, e sino all'ultimo io la cercherò. E fiori come uva che matura,	19 My soul has fought to possess her, I have been scrupulous in keeping the Law; I have stretched outmy hands to heaven and bewailed how little I knew of her;
20 e s'allietò in lei il mio cuore. Battè la via diritta il mio piede, fin dalla gioventù andai in traccia di lei.	20 I have directed my soul towards her, and in purity I have found her; having my heart fixed on her fromthe outset, I shall never be deserted;
21 Chinai per un poco il mio orecchio e l'accolsi,	21 my very core having yearned to discover her, I have now acquired a good possession.
22 e molta dottrina ritrovai in me. E grande profitto ottenni per essa:	22 In reward the Lord has given me a tongue with which I shal sing his praises.
23 a chi m'ha dato la sapienza, renderò gloria!	23 Come close to me, you ignorant, take your place in my school.
24 Risolvetti invero di praticarla, e m'applicai al bene con zelo, e non resterò confuso;	24 Why complain about lacking these things when your souls are so thirsty for them?
25 combattè per essa l'anima mia, e mi tenni fermo nel praticarla;	25 I have opened my mouth, I have said: 'Buy her without money,
26 stesi le mani in alto, e i falli contro di essa deplorai.	26 put your necks under her yoke, let your souls receive instruction, she is near, within your reach.'
27 Dirizzai ad essa l'animo mio, e con l'intendimento la trovai.	27 See for yourselves: how slight my efforts have been to win so much peace.
28 Acquistai prudenza per suo mezzo fin da principio: perciò non sarò abbandonato.	28 Buy instruction with a large sum of silver, thanks to her you wil gain much gold.
29 Le mie viscere s'agitarono nel ricercarla; perciò ho acquistata un prezioso possesso.	29 May your souls rejoice in the mercy of the Lord, may you never be ashamed of praising him.
30 M'ha dato il Signore la lingua come mia ricompensa, e con essa lo loderò.	30 Do your work before the appointed time and at the appointed time he wil give you your reward.(Subscript:) Wisdom of Jesus, son of Sira.
31 Accostatevi a me, o ignoranti, e radunatevi nella casa dell'istruzione.
32 Che tardate ancora e che obbiettate a questo? le anime soffrono gran sete!
33 Ho aperto la mia bocca e ho parlato: procacciatevi [la sapienza], senza spesa.
34 E il collo vostro sottoponete al giogo, e accolga l'anima vostra l'istruzione, perch'è vicina a [chi vuol] trovarla.
35 Vedete con gli occhi vostri come [solo] un poco m'affaticai, e ho trovato un immenso riposo!
36 Procuratevi l'istruzione, a prezzo di molto argento, e oro in abbondanza acquisterete con essa.
37 Si rallegri l'animo vostro nella misericordia del Signore, e non sarete confusi per averlo lodato.
38 Compite l'opera vostra anzi tempo, e vi darò a suo tempo la vostra mercede.
