1 'Salmo. Di Asaf.' Quanto è buono Dio con i giusti, con gli uomini dal cuore puro!	1 A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to the upright, the Lord, to those who are clean of heart!
2 Per poco non inciampavano i miei piedi, per un nulla vacillavano i miei passi,	2 I But, as for me, I lost my balance; my feet all but slipped,
3 perché ho invidiato i prepotenti, vedendo la prosperità dei malvagi.	3 Because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Non c'è sofferenza per essi, sano e pasciuto è il loro corpo.	4 For they suffer no pain; their bodies are healthy and sleek.
5 Non conoscono l'affanno dei mortali e non sono colpiti come gli altri uomini.	5 They are free of the burdens of life; they are not afflicted like others.
6 Dell'orgoglio si fanno una collana e la violenza è il loro vestito.	6 Thus pride adorns them as a necklace; violence clothes them as a robe.
7 Esce l'iniquità dal loro grasso, dal loro cuore traboccano pensieri malvagi.	7 Out of their stupidity comes sin; evil thoughts flood their hearts.
8 Scherniscono e parlano con malizia, minacciano dall'alto con prepotenza.	8 They scoff and spout their malice; from on high they utter threats.
9 Levano la loro bocca fino al cielo e la loro lingua percorre la terra.	9 They set their mouths against the heavens, their tongues roam the earth.
10 Perciò seggono in alto, non li raggiunge la piena delle acque.	10 So my people turn to them and drink deeply of their words.
11 Dicono: "Come può saperlo Dio? C'è forse conoscenza nell'Altissimo?".	11 They say, "Does God really know?" "Does the Most High have any knowledge?"
12 Ecco, questi sono gli empi: sempre tranquilli, ammassano ricchezze.	12 Such, then, are the wicked, always carefree, increasing their wealth.
13 Invano dunque ho conservato puro il mio cuore e ho lavato nell'innocenza le mie mani,	13 Is it in vain that I have kept my heart clean, washed my hands in innocence?
14 poiché sono colpito tutto il giorno, e la mia pena si rinnova ogni mattina.	14 For I am afflicted day after day, chastised every morning.
15 Se avessi detto: "Parlerò come loro", avrei tradito la generazione dei tuoi figli.	15 Had I thought, "I will speak as they do," I would have betrayed your people.
16 Riflettevo per comprendere: ma fu arduo agli occhi miei,	16 Though I tried to understand all this, it was too difficult for me,
17 finché non entrai nel santuario di Dio e compresi qual è la loro fine.	17 Till I entered the sanctuary of God and came to understand their end.
18 Ecco, li poni in luoghi scivolosi, li fai precipitare in rovina.	18 You set them, indeed, on a slippery road; you hurl them down to ruin.
19 Come sono distrutti in un istante, sono finiti, periscono di spavento!	19 How suddenly they are devastated; undone by disasters forever!
20 Come un sogno al risveglio, Signore, quando sorgi, fai svanire la loro immagine.	20 They are like a dream after waking, Lord, dismissed like shadows when you arise.
21 Quando si agitava il mio cuore e nell'intimo mi tormentavo,	21 Since my heart was embittered and my soul deeply wounded,
22 io ero stolto e non capivo, davanti a te stavo come una bestia.	22 I was stupid and could not understand; I was like a brute beast in your presence.
23 Ma io sono con te sempre: tu mi hai preso per la mano destra.	23 Yet I am always with you; you take hold of my right hand.
24 Mi guiderai con il tuo consiglio e poi mi accoglierai nella tua gloria.	24 With your counsel you guide me, and at the end receive me with honor.
25 Chi altri avrò per me in cielo? Fuori di te nulla bramo sulla terra.	25 Whom else have I in the heavens? None beside you delights me on earth.
26 Vengono meno la mia carne e il mio cuore; ma la roccia del mio cuore è Dio, è Dio la mia sorte per sempre.	26 Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever.
27 Ecco, perirà chi da te si allontana, tu distruggi chiunque ti è infedele.	27 But those who are far from you perish; you destroy those unfaithful to you.
28 Il mio bene è stare vicino a Dio: nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio, per narrare tutte le tue opere presso le porte della città di Sion.	28 As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord GOD my refuge. I shall declare all your works in the gates of daughter Zion.
