In finem. Psalmus David, canticum Jeremiæ et Ezechielis populo transmigrationis, cum inciperent exire. | 1 For the leader. A psalm of David. |
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem. | 2 O God, hear my anguished voice; from the foes I dread protect my life. |
Exaudi orationem meam ; ad te omnis caro veniet. | 3 Hide me from the malicious crowd, the mob of evildoers. |
Verba iniquorum prævaluerunt super nos, et impietatibus nostris tu propitiaberis. | 4 They sharpen their tongues like swords, ready their bows for arrows of poison words. |
Beatus quem elegisti et assumpsisti : inhabitabit in atriis tuis. Replebimur in bonis domus tuæ ; sanctum est templum tuum, | 5 They shoot at the innocent from ambush, shoot without risk, catch them unawares. |
mirabile in æquitate. Exaudi nos, Deus, salutaris noster, spes omnium finium terræ, et in mari longe. | 6 They resolve on their wicked plan; they conspire to set snares; they say: "Who will see us?" |
Præparans montes in virtute tua, accinctus potentia ; | 7 They devise wicked schemes, conceal the schemes they devise; the designs of their hearts are hidden. |
qui conturbas profundum maris, sonum fluctuum ejus. Turbabuntur gentes, | 8 But God will shoot arrows at them and strike them unawares. |
et timebunt qui habitant terminos a signis tuis ; exitus matutini et vespere delectabis. | 9 They will be brought down by their own tongues; all who see them will shake their heads. |
Visitasti terram, et inebriasti eam ; multiplicasti locupletare eam. Flumen Dei repletum est aquis ; parasti cibum illorum : quoniam ita est præparatio ejus. | 10 Then all will fear and proclaim God's deed, pondering what has been done. |
Rivos ejus inebria ; multiplica genimina ejus : in stillicidiis ejus lætabitur germinans. | 11 The just will rejoice and take refuge in the LORD; all the upright will glory in their God. |
