Canticum graduum. Lætatus sum in his quæ dicta sunt mihi : In domum Domini ibimus. | 1 A song of ascents. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From where will my help come? |
Stantes erant pedes nostri in atriis tuis, Jerusalem. | 2 My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. |
Jerusalem, quæ ædificatur ut civitas, cujus participatio ejus in idipsum. | 3 God will not allow your foot to slip; your guardian does not sleep. |
Illuc enim ascenderunt tribus, tribus Domini : testimonium Israël, ad confitendum nomini Domini. | 4 Truly, the guardian of Israel never slumbers nor sleeps. |
Quia illic sederunt sedes in judicio, sedes super domum David. | 5 The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is your shade at your righthand. |
Rogate quæ ad pacem sunt Jerusalem, et abundantia diligentibus te. | 6 By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the moon by night. |
Fiat pax in virtute tua, et abundantia in turribus tuis. | 7 The LORD will guard you from all evil, will always guard your life. |
Propter fratres meos et proximos meos, loquebar pacem de te. | 8 The LORD will guard your coming and going both now and forever. |
Propter domum Domini Dei nostri, quæsivi bona tibi. |
