Canticum graduum. Lætatus sum in his quæ dicta sunt mihi : In domum Domini ibimus. | 1 In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me. |
Stantes erant pedes nostri in atriis tuis, Jerusalem. | 2 O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, and a deceitful tongue. |
Jerusalem, quæ ædificatur ut civitas, cujus participatio ejus in idipsum. | 3 What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue. |
Illuc enim ascenderunt tribus, tribus Domini : testimonium Israël, ad confitendum nomini Domini. | 4 The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste. |
Quia illic sederunt sedes in judicio, sedes super domum David. | 5 Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of cedar: |
Rogate quæ ad pacem sunt Jerusalem, et abundantia diligentibus te. | 6 my soul hath been long a sojourner. |
Fiat pax in virtute tua, et abundantia in turribus tuis. | 7 With them that hate peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause. |
Propter fratres meos et proximos meos, loquebar pacem de te. | |
Propter domum Domini Dei nostri, quæsivi bona tibi. |
