BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E avendo principiato gli uomini a moltiplicare sopra la terra, e avendo avuto delle figliuole,	1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,
2 I figliuoli di Dio vedendo la bellezza delle figliuole degli uomini, preser per loro mogli quelle che più di tutte lor piacquero.	2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.
3 E il Signore disse: Non rimarrà il mio spirito per sempre nell'uomo, perché egli è carne: e i loro giorni saranno cento venti anni.	3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'
4 Ed erano in quel tempo de' giganti sopra la terra: imperocché dopo che i figliuoli di Dio si accostarono alle figliuole degli uomini, ed elle fecer figliuoli, ne vennero quelli possenti in antico, e famosi uomini.	4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.
5 Vedendo adunque Dio, come grande era la malizia degli uomini sopra la terra; e tutti i pensieri del loro cuore erano intesi a mal fare continuamente,	5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.
6 Si pentì d'aver fatto l'uomo. E preso da intimo dolor di cuore,	6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.
7 Sterminerò, disse egli, l'uomo da me creato dalla faccia della terra, dall'uomo fino agli animali, da' rettili fino agli uccelli dell'aria; imperocché mi pento d'averli fatti.	7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'
8 Ma Noè trovò grazia dinanzi al Signore.	8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.
9 Questi sono i figliuoli generati da Noè. Noè fu uomo giusto, e perfetto ne' suoi tempi, camminò con Dio.	9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.
10 E generò tre figliuoli, Sem, Cam, e Japheth.	10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Ma la terra era corrotta davanti a Dio, e ripiena d'iniquità.	11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.
12 Ed avendo Dio veduto come la terra era corrotta (perocché ogni uomo sulla terra nella sua maniera di vivere era corrotto),	12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.
13 Disse a Noè: La fine di tutti gli uomini è imminente ne' miei decreti; la terra per opera loro è ripiena d'iniquità, e io gli sterminerò insieme colla terra.	13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.
14 Fatti un'arca di legnami piallati: tu farai nell'arca delle piccole stanze, e la invernicerai di bitume e di dentro e di fuori.	14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.
15 E la farai in questo modo: La lunghezza dell'arca sarà di trecento cubiti, la larghezza di cinquanta cubiti, l'altezza di trenta.	15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.
16 Farai nell'arca una finestra, e il tetto dell'arca farai, che vada alzandosi fino a un cubito: farai poi da un lato la porta dell'arca: vi farai un piano di fondo, un secondo piano, e un terzo piano.	16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.
17 Ecco, che io manderò sopra la terra le acque del diluvio ad uccidere tutti gli animali, che hanno spirito di vita sotto del cielo: tutto quello che è sopra la terra, anderà in perdizione.	17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.
18 Ma io farò il mio patto con te, ed entrerai nell'arca tu, e i tuoi figliuoli, la tua moglie, e le mogli dei tuoi figliuoli.	18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.
19 E di tutti gli animali d'ogni specie due ne farai entrare nell'arca, maschio, e femmina.	19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.
20 Degli uccelli secondo la loro specie; e de' giumenti di ogni specie, e di tutti i rettili della terra secondo la loro specie: due entreranno teco nell'arca affinché possano conservarsi.	20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.
21 Prenderai adunque teco di tutte quelle cose, che possono mangiarsi, e le porterai in questa tua casa: e serviranno a te e a loro di cibo.	21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'
22 Fece adunque Noè tutto quello che gli avea comandato il Signore.	22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.
