BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Allora Giobbe rispose, dicendo:	1 Then Job answered , and said:
2 « Fino a quando affliggerete l'anima mia e mi tormenterete coi vostri discorsi?	2 How long do you afflict my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3 Già per la decima volta m'insultate e non vi vergognate di malmenarmi.	3 Behold, these ten times you confound me, and are not ashamed to oppress me.
4 Anche dato ch'io abbia sbagliato per ignoranza, il mio sbaglio ricadrà su me.	4 For if I have been ignorant, my ignorance shall be with me.
5 Ma voi vi alzate contro di me a rimproverarmi delle mie ignominie.	5 But you have set yourselves up against me, and reprove me with my reproaches.
6 Almeno ora intendetelo che non per giusto giudizio Dio m'ha afflitto, e mi ha circondato coi suoi flagelli.	6 At least now understand, that God hath not afflicted me with an equal judgment, and compassed me with his scourges.
7 Ecco, oppresso dalla violenza io grido, ma nessuno ascolta; alzo la voce, ma non ottengo giustizia.	7 Behold I cry suffering violence, and no one will hear: I shall cry aloud, and there is none to judge.
8 (Dìo) ha sbarrato il mio cammino, non posso passare, ha coperto di tenebre il mio sentiero.	8 He hath hedged in my path round about, and I cannot pass, and in my way he hath set darkness.
9 M'ha spogliato della mia gloria, m'ha levato dal capo la mia corona,	9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and hath taken the crown from my head.
10 m'ha disfatto da ogni parte, ed io muoio, e come ad un albero sradicato, m'ha tolta la speranza.	10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am lost, and he hath taken away my hope, as from a tree that is plucked up.
11 La sua collera divampa contro di me e mi ha trattato come suo nemico.	11 His wrath is kindled against me, and he hath counted me as his enemy.
12 Le sue schiere son venute tutte insieme, si son aperta una via contro di me, ed hanno assediata da ogni lato la mia tenda.	12 His troops have come together, and have made themselves a way by me, and have besieged my tabernacle round about.
13 Egli ha allontanati da me i miei fratelli: i miei amici si son ritirati da me come stranieri,	13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintance like strangers have departed from me.
14 i miei vicini mi hanno abbandonato, i miei conoscenti m'hanno dimenticato.	14 My kinsmen have forsaken me, and they that knew me, have forgotten me.
15 La mia gente di casa e le mie serve mi han trattato come straniero, davanti ai loro occhi io sono stato come un pellegrino:	15 They that dwelt in my house, and my maidservants have counted me a stranger, and I have been like an alien in their eyes.
16 chiamai il mio servo e non rispose, eppure lo supplicavo colla mia bocca.	16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer, I entreated him with my own mouth.
17 La mia moglie ha avuto a schifo il mio fiato e io mi raccomandavo ai figli usciti dal mio seno.	17 My wife hath abhorred my breath, and I entreated the children of my womb.
18 Anche gli stolti mi disprezzavano e appena m'ero allontanato da loro sparlavano di me.	18 Even fools despise me; and when I gone from them, they spoke against me.
19 Quelli che una volta eran miei consiglieri mi aborrono, e quello da me più amato s'è volto contro di me.	19 They that were sometime my counsellors, have abhorred me: and he whom I love most is turned against me.
20 Le mie ossa, consunte le carni, stanno attaccate alla pelle, e mi son restate soltanto le labbra intorno ai denti.	20 The flesh being consumed. My bone hath cleaved to my skin, and nothing but lips are left about my teeth.
21 Abbiate pietà di me, abbiate pietà di me almeno voi, o miei amici, giacché la mano del Signore m'ha percosso!	21 Have pity on me, have pity on me, at least you my friends, because the hand of the Lord hath touched me.
22 Perchè mi perseguitate come Dio, e vi satollate colle mie carni?	22 Why do you persecute me as God, and glut yourselves with my flesh?
23 Chi mi darà di fare scrivere le mie parole? Chi mi darà di farle tracciare in un libro con stile di ferro,	23 Who will grant me that my words may be written? Who will grant me that they may be marked down in a book?
24 e su lamina di piombo e di farle incidere collo scalpello sulla pietra?	24 With an iron pen and in a plate of lead, or else be graven with an instrument in flint stone.
25 Io so infatti che il mio redentore vive, e che nell'ultimo giorno io risorgerò dalla terra,	25 For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth.
26 e, circondato di nuovo dalla mia pelle, nella mia carne vedrò il mio Dio.	26 And I shall be clothed again with my skin, and in my flesh I will see my God.
27 Io, proprio io lo vedrò: lo vedranno i miei occhi, e non altri. Questa è la speranza che ho riposta nel mio seno.	27 Whom I myself shall see, and my eyes shall behold, and not another: this my hope is laid up in my bosom.
28 Perchè dunque voi ora dite: Perseguitiamolo, troviamo la radice delle parole contro di lui?	28 Why then do you say now: Let us persecute him, and let us find occasion of word against him?
29 fuggite adunque davanti alla spada, perchè la spada è vendicatrice dell'iniquità, e sappiate che v'è un giudizio ».	29 Flee then from the face of the sword, for the sword is the revenger of iniquities: and know ye that there is judgment.
