Siracide 15

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Chi teme il Signore farà il bene, e chi osserva la giustizia raggiungerà la sapienza.	1 Whoever fears the Lord wil act like this, and whoever grasps the Law wil obtain wisdom.
2 Ella gli si farà incontro come madre venerata, e come vergine sposa raccoglierà.	2 She will come to meet him like a mother, and receive him like a virgin bride.
3 Lo nutrirà col pane della vita e dell'intelligenza, e con acqua di salutare sapienza, gli darà da bere. E si raffermerà in lui, ed ei non piegherà,	3 She will give him the bread of understanding to eat, and the water of wisdom to drink.
4 e lo sosterrà e non sarà confuso. E l'esalterà tra i suoi simili,	4 He will lean on her and wil not fal , he wil rely on her and not be put to shame.
5 e nel mezzo dell'adunanza aprirà la bocca di lui. E lo riempirà dello spirito di sapienza e d'intelligenza, e col manto della gloria lo rivestirà.	5 She will raise him high above his neighbours, and in ful assembly she wil open his mouth.
6 Gioia e allegrezza accumulerà su lui, e un nome imperituro gli darà in retaggio.	6 He will find happiness and a crown of joy, he wil inherit an everlasting name.
7 Gli stolti non lo raggiungeranno, e gli assennati l'incontreranno. Gli stolti non la vedranno, perchè lontana ella sta dalla superbia e dalla frode.	7 Fools wil not gain possession of her, nor will sinners set eyes on her.
8 I bugiardi non si ricorderanno di lei, e gli uomini sinceri si troveranno con essa, e prospereranno sino alla visita di Dio.	8 She stands remote from pride, and liars cannot cal her to mind.
9 Non è bella la lode in bocca del peccatore,	9 Praise is unseemly in a sinner's mouth, since it has not been put there by the Lord.
10 perchè da Dio è venuta la sapienza. Alla sapienza invero s'accompagnerà la lode di Dio, e abbonderà sulla bocca del fedele, e il Signore gliela ispirerà.	10 For praise should be uttered only in wisdom, and the Lord himself then prompts it.
11 Non dire: «Per causa del Signore [la sapienza mi] mancai, perchè ciò ch'egli odia, tu non devi fare.	11 Do not say, 'The Lord was responsible for my sinning,' for he does not do what he hates.
12 Non dire: «È lui che m'ha sedotto», perch'egli non ha bisogno di uomini empi.	12 Do not say, 'It was he who led me astray,' for he has no use for a sinner.
13 Ogni abominazione l'odia il Signore, e non sarà amata da quei che lo temono.	13 The Lord hates al that is foul, and no one who fears him will love it either.
14 Iddio da principio creò l'uomo, e lo lasciò in mano del suo arbitrio.	14 He himself made human beings in the beginning, and then left them free to make their own decisions.
15 Aggiunse [però] i suoi comandamenti e i suoi precetti,	15 If you choose, you will keep the commandments and so be faithful to his wil .
16 Se tu vorrai, osserverai i suoi comandamenti, e il serbar fedeltà dipende dal tuo beneplacito.	16 He has set fire and water before you; put out your hand to whichever you prefer.
17 Ti ha messo davanti l'acqua e il fuoco: a quel che tu vuoi, stendi la mano.	17 A human being has life and death before him; whichever he prefers wil be given him.
18 Di faccia all'uomo son la vita e la morte, il bene e il male: ciò che gli piacerà, gli sarà dato.	18 For vast is the wisdom of the Lord; he is almighty and al -seeing.
19 Perchè grande è la sapienza del Signore, e forte egli è nella sua potenza e tutto vede.	19 His eyes are on those who fear him, he notes every human action.
20 Gli occhi del Signore son [rivolti] a coloro che lo temono, ed egli conosce ogni opera dell'uomo.	20 He never commanded anyone to be godless, he has given no one permission to sin.
21 A nessuno ha comandato d'agire da empio, e a nessuno ha dato licenza di peccare.
22 Non desidera infatti una turba di figliuoli infedeli e inutili.
