Isaia 64

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 come il fuoco incendia le stoppie e fa bollire l’acqua, perché si conosca il tuo nome fra i tuoi nemici, e le genti tremino davanti a te.	1 as fire sets brushwood alight, as fire makes water boil -- to make your name known to your foes; thenations would tremble at your presence,
2 Quando tu compivi cose terribili che non attendevamo, tu scendesti e davanti a te sussultarono i monti.	2 at the unexpected miracles you would do. (Oh, that you would come down, in your presence themountains would quake!)
3 Mai si udì parlare da tempi lontani, orecchio non ha sentito, occhio non ha visto che un Dio, fuori di te, abbia fatto tanto per chi confida in lui.	3 Never has anyone heard, no ear has heard, no eye has seen any god but you act like this for the sakeof those who trust him.
4 Tu vai incontro a quelli che praticano con gioia la giustizia e si ricordano delle tue vie. Ecco, tu sei adirato perché abbiamo peccato contro di te da lungo tempo e siamo stati ribelli.	4 You come to meet those who are happy to act uprightly; keeping your ways reminds them of you. Yes,you have been angry and we have been sinners; now we persist in your ways and we shal be saved.
5 Siamo divenuti tutti come una cosa impura, e come panno immondo sono tutti i nostri atti di giustizia; tutti siamo avvizziti come foglie, le nostre iniquità ci hanno portato via come il vento.	5 We have al been like unclean things and our upright deeds like filthy rags. We wither, al of us, likeleaves, and al our misdeeds carry us off like the wind.
6 Nessuno invocava il tuo nome, nessuno si risvegliava per stringersi a te; perché tu avevi nascosto da noi il tuo volto, ci avevi messo in balìa della nostra iniquità.	6 There is no one to invoke your name, to rouse himself to hold fast to you, for you have hidden your facefrom us and given us up to the power of our misdeeds.
7 Ma, Signore, tu sei nostro padre; noi siamo argilla e tu colui che ci plasma, tutti noi siamo opera delle tue mani.	7 And yet, Yahweh, you are our Father; we the clay and you our potter, al of us are the work of yourhands.
8 Signore, non adirarti fino all’estremo, non ricordarti per sempre dell’iniquità. Ecco, guarda: tutti siamo tuo popolo.	8 Yahweh, do not let your anger go too far and do not remember guilt for ever. Look, please, we are alyour people;
9 Le tue città sante sono un deserto, un deserto è diventata Sion, Gerusalemme una desolazione.	9 your holy cities have become a desert, Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem a wasteland.
10 Il nostro tempio, santo e magnifico, dove i nostri padri ti hanno lodato, è divenuto preda del fuoco; tutte le nostre cose preziose sono distrutte.	10 Our holy and glorious Temple, in which our ancestors used to praise you, has been burnt to theground; al our delight lies in ruins.
11 Dopo tutto questo, resterai ancora insensibile, o Signore, tacerai e ci umilierai fino all’estremo?	11 Yahweh, can you restrain yourself at al this? Wil you stay silent and afflict us beyond endurance?
