2 'Quando venne da lui il profeta Natan dopo che aveva peccato con Betsabea.'	2 when Nathan the prophet came to him after his affair with Bathsheba.
3 Pietà di me, o Dio, secondo la tua misericordia; nella tua grande bontà cancella il mio peccato.	3 Have mercy on me, God, in your goodness; in your abundant compassion blot out my offense.
4 Lavami da tutte le mie colpe, mondami dal mio peccato.	4 Wash away all my guilt; from my sin cleanse me.
5 Riconosco la mia colpa, il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.	5 For I know my offense; my sin is always before me.
6 Contro di te, contro te solo ho peccato, quello che è male ai tuoi occhi, io l'ho fatto; perciò sei giusto quando parli, retto nel tuo giudizio.	6 Against you alone have I sinned; I have done such evil in your sight That you are just in your sentence, blameless when you condemn.
7 Ecco, nella colpa sono stato generato, nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.	7 True, I was born guilty, a sinner, even as my mother conceived me.
8 Ma tu vuoi la sincerità del cuore e nell'intimo m'insegni la sapienza.	8 Still, you insist on sincerity of heart; in my inmost being teach me wisdom.
9 Purificami con issopo e sarò mondo; lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.	9 Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure; wash me, make me whiter than snow.
10 Fammi sentire gioia e letizia, esulteranno le ossa che hai spezzato.	10 Let me hear sounds of joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati, cancella tutte le mie colpe.	11 Turn away your face from my sins; blot out all my guilt.
12 Crea in me, o Dio, un cuore puro, rinnova in me uno spirito saldo.	12 A clean heart create for me, God; renew in me a steadfast spirit.
13 Non respingermi dalla tua presenza e non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.	13 Do not drive me from your presence, nor take from me your holy spirit.
14 Rendimi la gioia di essere salvato, sostieni in me un animo generoso.	14 Restore my joy in your salvation; sustain in me a willing spirit.
15 Insegnerò agli erranti le tue vie e i peccatori a te ritorneranno.	15 I will teach the wicked your ways, that sinners may return to you.
16 Liberami dal sangue, Dio, Dio mia salvezza, la mia lingua esalterà la tua giustizia.	16 Rescue me from death, God, my saving God, that my tongue may praise your healing power.
17 Signore, apri le mie labbra e la mia bocca proclami la tua lode;	17 Lord, open my lips; my mouth will proclaim your praise.
18 poiché non gradisci il sacrificio e, se offro olocausti, non li accetti.	18 For you do not desire sacrifice; a burnt offering you would not accept.
19 Uno spirito contrito è sacrificio a Dio, un cuore affranto e umiliato, Dio, tu non disprezzi.	19 My sacrifice, God, is a broken spirit; God, do not spurn a broken, humbled heart.
20 Nel tuo amore fa grazia a Sion, rialza le mura di Gerusalemme.	20 Make Zion prosper in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
21 Allora gradirai i sacrifici prescritti, l'olocausto e l'intera oblazione, allora immoleranno vittime sopra il tuo altare.	21 Then you will be pleased with proper sacrifice, burnt offerings and holocausts; then bullocks will be offered on your altar.
