Psalmi 53

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In finem, in carminibus. Intellectus David,	1 [For the choirmaster In sickness Poem Of David] The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God!'They are corrupt, vile and unjust, not one of them does right.
2 cum venissent Ziphæi, et dixissent ad Saul : Nonne David absconditus est apud nos ?	2 God looks down from heaven at the children of Adam, to see if a single one is wise, a single oneseeks God.
3 Deus, in nomine tuo salvum me fac, et in virtute tua judica me.	3 Al have proved faithless, al alike turned sour, not one of them does right, not a single one.
4 Deus, exaudi orationem meam ; auribus percipe verba oris mei.	4 Are they not aware, these evil-doers? They are devouring my people; this is the bread they eat, andthey never call upon God.
5 Quoniam alieni insurrexerunt adversum me, et fortes quæsierunt animam meam, et non proposuerunt Deum ante conspectum suum.	5 They wil be gripped with fear, just where there is no need for fear, for God scatters the bones of himwho besieges you; they are mocked because God rejects them.
6 Ecce enim Deus adjuvat me, et Dominus susceptor est animæ meæ.	6 Who wil bring from Zion salvation for Israel? When God brings his people home, what joy for Jacob,what happiness for Israel!
7 Averte mala inimicis meis ; et in veritate tua disperde illos.
8 Voluntarie sacrificabo tibi, et confitebor nomini tuo, Domine, quoniam bonum est.
9 Quoniam ex omni tribulatione eripuisti me, et super inimicos meos despexit oculus meus.
