1 Instruction (Intelligence) d'Ethan l'Ezrahite.	1 Of understanding, for Ethan the Ezrahite.
2 Je chanterai éternellement les miséricordes du Seigneur ; de génération en génération ma bouche annoncera votre vérité.	2 The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.
3 Car vous avez dit : La miséricorde s'élèvera comme un édifice éternel (fondée éternellement) dans les cieux ; votre vérité y sera solidement établie.	3 For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.
4 J'ai contracté une alliance avec mes élus ; j'ai fait ce serment (juré) à David, mon serviteur :	4 I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:
5 Je conserverai éternellement ta race, et j'affermirai (fonderai) ton trône pour toutes les générations.	5 Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.
6 Les cieux publieront vos merveilles, Seigneur, et votre vérité dans l'assemblée des saints.	6 The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints.
7 Car qui, dans les cieux (nues), sera égal au Seigneur ? et qui sera semblable à Dieu parmi les fils de Dieu ?	7 For who in the clouds can be compared to the Lord: or who among the sons of God shall be like to God?
8 (Le) Dieu, qui est glorifié dans l'assemblée des saints, est plus grand et plus redoutable que tous ceux qui l'environnent.	8 God, who is glorified in the assembly of the saints: great and terrible above all them that are about him.
9 Seigneur, Dieu des armées, qui est semblable à vous ? Vous êtes puissant, Seigneur, et votre (la) vérité vous environne (est autour de vous).	9 O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.
10 Vous dominez sur la puissance de la mer, et vous apaisez le mouvement de ses flots.	10 Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof.
11 Vous avez humilié l'orgueilleux (un superbe), comme un blessé (mortellement) ; vous avez, par la force de votre bras, dispersé vos ennemis.	11 Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.
12 A vous sont les cieux, et à vous la terre ; c'est vous qui avez fondé l'univers (le globe de la terre) et tout ce qu'il contient ;	12 Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:
13 vous avez créé l'aquilon et la mer. Le Thabor et l'Hermon tressaille(ero)nt d'allégresse à votre nom ;	13 the north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name:
14 votre bras est armé de puissance (puissant). Que votre main s'affermisse, et que votre droite s'élève (soit exaltée).	14 thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted:
15 La justice et l'équité (le jugement) sont l'appui de votre trône. La miséricorde et la vérité marcheront devant votre face.	15 justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face:
16 (Bien)Heureux le peuple qui connaît les acclamations joyeuses (sait se réjouir en vous). Seigneur, ils marcheront à la lumière de votre visage ;	16 blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance:
17 ils se réjouiront tout le jour en votre nom, et ils seront élevés (exaltés) par votre justice.	17 and in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted.
18 Car vous êtes la gloire de leur force (puissance), et c'est sur votre bonté que s'élèvera notre puissance (bienveillance que notre corne sera exaltée).	18 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted.
19 Car c'est le Seigneur qui nous soutient (nous a pris sous sa protection) ; c'est le saint d'Israël, notre roi.	19 For our protection is of the Lord, and of our king the holy one of Israel.
20 Alors vous avez parlé dans une vision à vos saints, et vous avez dit : J'ai prêté mon secours à un homme puissant, et j'ai élevé (exalté) celui que j'ai choisi du milieu de mon peuple.	20 Then thou spokest in a vision to thy saints, and saidst: I have laid help upon one that is mighty, and have exalted one chosen out of my people.
21 J'ai trouvé David, mon serviteur ; je l'ai oint de mon huile sainte.	21 I have found David my servant: with my holy oil I have anointed him.
22 Car ma main l'assistera, et mon bras le fortifiera.	22 For my hand shall help him: and my arm shall strengthen him.
23 L'ennemi (Un) n'aura jamais l'avantage sur (ne pourra rien contre) lui, et le (un) fils d'iniquité ne pourra lui nuire.	23 The enemy shall have no advantage over him: nor the son of iniquity have power to hurt him.
24 Et je taillerai ses ennemis en pièces devant lui, et je mettrai en fuite ceux qui le haïssent.	24 And I will cut down his enemies before his face; and them that hate him I will put to flight.
25 Ma vérité et ma miséricorde seront avec lui, et par mon nom s'élèvera sa puissance (sera exaltée sa corne).	25 And my truth and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
26 Et j'étendrai sa main sur la mer, et sa droite sur les fleuves.	26 And I will set his hand in the sea; and his right hand in the rivers.
27 Il m'invoquera : Vous êtes mon père, mon Dieu, et l'auteur (le garant) de mon salut.	27 He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation.
28 Et moi, je ferai de lui le (mon) premier-né, le (et) plus élevé des (que les) rois de la terre.	28 And I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.
29 Je lui conserverai éternellement ma miséricorde, et mon alliance avec lui sera inviolable (fidèle).	29 I will keep my mercy for him for ever: and my covenant faithful to him.
30 Et je ferai subsister sa race durant tous les siècles, et son trône autant que les cieux (comme les jours du ciel).	30 And I will make his seed to endure for evermore: and his throne as the days of heaven.
31 Que (Mais) si ses enfants (fils) abandonnent ma loi, et s'ils ne marchent point dans mes préceptes (jugements) ;	31 And if his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments:
32 s'ils violent mes (justes) ordonnances, et ne gardent point mes commandements,	32 If they profane my justices: and keep not my commandments:
33 je visiterai avec la verge leurs iniquités, et leurs péchés par des coups (fléaux) ;	33 I will visit their iniquities with a rod: and their sins with stripes.
34 mais je ne lui retirerai pas ma miséricorde, et je ne trahirai pas ma vérité.	34 But my mercy I will not take away from him: nor will I suffer my truth to fail.
35 Et je ne violerai pas mon alliance, et je ne rendrai pas vaines les paroles sorties de mes lèvres (ma bouche).	35 Neither will I profane my covenant: and the words that proceed from my mouth I will not make void.
36 Je l'ai une fois juré par ma sainteté, et (que) je ne mentirai point à David :	36 Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David:
37 Sa race demeurera éternellement.	37 his seed shall endure for ever.
38 Et son trône sera comme le soleil en ma présence, et comme la (pleine) lune qui subsistera à jamais, et (comme) le témoin qui est au ciel est fidèle.	38 And his throne as the sun before me: and as the moon perfect for ever, and a faithful witness in heaven.
39 Et pourtant vous avez rejeté et méprisé ; vous avez repoussé votre oint (Christ).	39 But thou hast rejected and despised: thou hast been angry with thy anointed.
40 Vous avez détruit l'alliance faite avec votre serviteur ; vous avez profané en le jetant à terre son diadème sacré (sur la terre son sanctuaire).	40 Thou hast overthrown the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his sanctuary on the earth.
41 Vous avez abattu toutes ses clôtures (haies) ; vous avez rempli de frayeur ses forteresses.	41 Thou hast broken down all his hedges: thou hast made his strength fear.
42 Tous ceux qui passaient par le chemin l'ont pillé, et il est devenu l'opprobre de ses voisins.	42 All that pass by the way have robbed him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
43 Vous avez élevé la droite de ses oppresseurs ; vous avez réjoui tous ses ennemis.	43 Thou hast set up the right hand of them that oppress him: thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
44 Vous avez enlevé toute force à (détourné l'aide de) son glaive, et vous ne l'avez pas secouru dans la guerre.	44 Thou hast turned away the help of his sword; and hast not assisted him in battle.
45 Vous l'avez dépouillé de son éclat, et vous avez brisé son trône contre la terre.	45 Thou hast made his purification to cease: and thou hast cast his throne down to the ground.
46 Vous avez abrégé les jours de son règne ; vous l'avez couvert d'ignominie.	46 Thou hast shortened the days of his time: thou hast covered him with confusion.
47 Jusques à quand, Seigneur, vous détournerez-vous à jamais (détournerez-vous entièrement votre face) ? Jusques à quand votre colère s'embrasera-t-elle comme le (un) feu ?	47 How long, O Lord, turnest thou away unto the end? shall thy anger burn like fire?
48 Rappelez-vous ce qu'est ma vie (mon être) ; car est-ce pour le néant (en vain) que vous avez créé tous les enfants (fils) des hommes ?	48 Remember what my substance is for hast thou made all the children of men in vain?
49 Quel est l'homme qui pourra vivre sans voir la mort, et qui arrachera son âme à la puissance (de la main) de l'enfer ?	49 Who is the man that shall live, and not see death: that shall deliver his soul from the hand of hell?
50 Où sont, Seigneur, vos anciennes miséricordes, que vous avez jurées à David au nom de votre vérité ?	50 Lord, where are thy ancient mercies, according to what thou didst swear to David in thy truth?
51 Souvenez-vous, Seigneur, de l'opprobre de vos serviteurs ; je l'ai tenu caché (j'ai gardé) dans mon sein ; il venait de nations nombreuses.	51 Be mindful, O Lord, of the reproach of thy servants (which I have held in my bosom) of many nations:
52 Souvenez-vous au reproche de (ce que) vos ennemis (ont reproché), Seigneur, du reproche qu'ils ont fait au sujet de votre changement à l'égard de votre oint (Christ).	52 Wherewith thy enemies have reproached, O Lord; wherewith they have reproached the change of thy anointed.
53 Béni soit le Seigneur à jamais. Ainsi soit-il, ainsi soit-il.	53 Blessed be the Lord for evermore. So be it. So be it.
