In finem. Psalmus David. | 1 [Psalm Of David When he was in the desert of Judah] God, you are my God, I pine for you; my heartthirsts for you, my body longs for you, as a land parched, dreary and waterless. |
Exaudi, Deus, orationem meam cum deprecor ; a timore inimici eripe animam meam. | 2 Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary, seeing your power and your glory. |
Protexisti me a conventu malignantium, a multitudine operantium iniquitatem. | 3 Better your faithful love than life itself; my lips wil praise you. |
Quia exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas ; intenderunt arcum rem amaram, | 4 Thus I will bless you al my life, in your name lift up my hands. |
ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum. | 5 Al my longings fulfil ed as with fat and rich foods, a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth. |
Subito sagittabunt eum, et non timebunt ; firmaverunt sibi sermonem nequam. Narraverunt ut absconderent laqueos ; dixerunt : Quis videbit eos ? | 6 On my bed when I think of you, I muse on you in the watches of the night, |
Scrutati sunt iniquitates ; defecerunt scrutantes scrutinio. Accedet homo ad cor altum, | 7 for you have always been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice; |
et exaltabitur Deus. Sagittæ parvulorum factæ sunt plagæ eorum, | 8 my heart clings to you, your right hand supports me. |
et infirmatæ sunt contra eos linguæ eorum. Conturbati sunt omnes qui videbant eos, | 9 May those who are hounding me to death go down to the depths of the earth, |
et timuit omnis homo. Et annuntiaverunt opera Dei, et facta ejus intellexerunt. | 10 given over to the blade of the sword, and left as food for jackals. |
Lætabitur justus in Domino, et sperabit in eo, et laudabuntur omnes recti corde. | 11 Then the king shall rejoice in God, al who swear by him shal gain recognition, for the mouths of liarsshall be silenced. |
