Alleluja. Laudate, pueri, Dominum ; laudate nomen Domini. | 1 Al eluia! How blessed is anyone who fears Yahweh, who delights in his commandments! |
Sit nomen Domini benedictum ex hoc nunc et usque in sæculum. | 2 His descendants shal be powerful on earth, the race of the honest shal receive blessings: |
A solis ortu usque ad occasum laudabile nomen Domini. | 3 Riches and wealth for his family; his uprightness stands firm for ever. |
Excelsus super omnes gentes Dominus, et super cælos gloria ejus. | 4 For the honest he shines as a lamp in the dark, generous, tender-hearted, and upright. |
Quis sicut Dominus Deus noster, qui in altis habitat, | 5 Al goes wel for one who lends generously, who is honest in al his dealing; |
et humilia respicit in cælo et in terra ? | 6 for al time to come he wil not stumble, for al time to come the upright wil be remembered. |
Suscitans a terra inopem, et de stercore erigens pauperem : | 7 Bad news holds no fears for him, firm is his heart, trusting in Yahweh. |
ut collocet eum cum principibus, cum principibus populi sui. | 8 His heart held steady, he has no fears, til he can gloat over his enemies. |
Qui habitare facit sterilem in domo, matrem filiorum lætantem. | 9 To the needy he gives without stint, his uprightness stands firm for ever; his reputation is founded onstrength. |
The wicked are vexed at the sight, they grind their teeth and waste away. The desires of the wickedwil be frustrated. |
