BIBBIA MARTINI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Soggiunse di poi Giobbe, e ripigliando la sua parabola, disse:	1 Job also added, taking up his parable, and said:
2 Viva Iddio, il quale ha abbandonata la causa mia, e l'Onnipotente, il quale ha immersa nell'afflizione l'anima mia;	2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment, and the Almighty, who hath brought my soul to bitterness,
3 Fino a tanto che fiato mi resterà, o il soffio di Dio in me spirerà,	3 As long as breath remaineth in me, and the spirit of God in my nostrils,
4 Le labbra mie non parleranno contro giustizia, nè menzogne inventerà la mia lingua.	4 My lips shall not speak iniquity, neither shall my tongue contrive lying.
5 Non sia mai che giusti io vi creda: finché io avrò vita, non lascerò in abbandono la mia innocenza.	5 God forbid that I should judge you to be just: till I die I will not depart from my innocence.
6 Non rinunzicrò alla giustizia, ch'io presi a custodire; perocché di tutta la mia vita non sento rimprovero nel cuor mio.	6 My justification, which I have begun to hold, I will not forsake: for my heart doth not reprehend me in all my life.
7 Sia come empio il mio nimico, e il mio avversario sia come iniquo.	7 Let my enemy be as the ungodly, and my adversary as the wicked one.
8 Imperocché qual resta speranza all'ipocrita, se dopo le avare sue rapine non libera Dio l'anima di lui?	8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite if through covetousness he take by violence, and God deliver not his soul?
9 E forse che Dio ascolterà le suo grida quando piomberà sopra di lui l'afflizione?	9 Will God hear his cry, when distress shall come upon him?
10 O potrà egli trovar consolazione nell'Onnipotente, e invocare Dio in qualunque tempo?	10 Or can he delight himself in the Almighty, and call upon God at all times?
11 Insegnerò a voi coll'aiuto di Dio consiglj dell'Onnipotente, non ve li nasconderò.	11 I will teach you by the hand of God, what the Almighty hath, and I will not conceal it.
12 Ma voi tutti ne siete informati; e perché adunque vi perdete inutilmente in vani discorsi.	12 Behold you all know it, and why do you speak vain things without cause?
13 Ecco qual sarà la sorte, che avrà da Dio l'uomo empio, e il retaggio, che sarà assegnato dall'Onnipotente agli uomini violenti.	13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the inheritance of the violent, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
14 Se molti saranno i suoi figliuoli, saranno abbandonati alla spada, e i suoi nipoti non avran pane da satollarsi.	14 If his sons be multiplied, they shall be for the sword, and his grandsons shall not be filled with bread.
15 Quelli che resteran di sua stirpe saran sepolti prima che morti, e le vedove di lui non faran duolo.	15 They that shall remain of him, shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep.
16 Se egli avrà, ammassato come terra l'argento, e come fango avrà preparate delle vestimenta:	16 If he shall heap together silver as earth, and prepare raiment as clay,
17 Egli veramente le preparerà, ma si vestirà di quelle il giusto, e l'argento sarà distribuito dall'innocente.	17 He shall prepare indeed, but the just man shall be clothed with it: and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18 Ei si fabbricò, qual figliuola, una casa, e una capanna, come fa il guardiano di una vigna.	18 He hath built his house as a moth, and as a keeper he hath made a booth.
19 Addormentato che siasi il ricco, non porterà nulla seco; aprirà gli occhi suoi, e si troverà senza niente.	19 The rich man when he shall sleep shall take away nothing with him: he shall open his eyes and find nothing.
20 Una piena di miserie lo inonderà; sarà oppresso da notturna tempesta.	20 Poverty like water shall take hold on him, a tempest shall oppress him in the night.
21 Un vento avvampante lo investirà, quasi turbine lo porterà lungi dalla sua sede.	21 A burning wind shall take him up, and carry him away, and as a whirlwind shall snatch him from his place.
22 E Dio si getterà sopra di lui, e non avranne pietà; ed ei tenterà di fuggire dalle sue mani.	22 And he shall cast upon him, and shall not spare: out of his hand he would willingly flee.
23 Chi getterà lo sguardo sul luogo dov'egli stava, batterà palma a palma, e faragli delle fischiate.	23 He shall clasp his hands upon him, and shall hiss at him, beholding his place.
