Proverbi 2

BIBBIA TINTORI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figlio mio, se vuoi accogliere le mie parole e nascondere nel tuo seno i miei comandamenti,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 porgendo il tuo orecchio alla sapienza, rivolgi il tuo cuore alla conoscenza della prudenza.	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 Se infatti invocherai la sapienza e rivolgerai il tuo cuore alla prudenza,	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 se la cercherai come l'argento e la scaverai come i tesori,	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 allora comprenderai il timor del Signore e giungerai alla scienza di Dio;	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 perché il Signore dà la sapienza, e dalla sua bocca procede la prudenza e la scienza.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Egli sarà il custode della salute dei giusti, e difenderà quelli che procedono con semplicità.	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 Egli protegge i sentieri della giustizia e prendesi cura delle vie dei giusti.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora intenderai la giustizia e il diritto, l'equità ed ogni via del bene.	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Se entrerà nel tuo cuore la sapienza, e ti piacerà la scienza,	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 il consiglio sarà tuo custode e la prudenza ti salverà,	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 preservandoti dalla via del male, dall'uomo che parla perversamente,	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 da quelli che abbandonano il retto sentiero e camminano per vie tenebrose,	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 che si rallegrano del male fatto e tripudiano nelle cose più malvage,	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 che battono vie perverse con passi infami.	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 Ti preserverà pure dalla donna altrui e dalla straniera, che usa melate parole,	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 e abbandona il compagno della, sua giovinezza, dimenticando il patto del suo Dio.	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 La sua casa declina verso la morte e le sue vie verso l'inferno.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Nessuno di quelli che van da lei ritornerà, nè riprenderà il cammino della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Ma tu guarda di camminare nella retta via e di tenerti nei sentieri dei giusti,	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 perchè i retti abiteranno la terra e gl'innocenti vi rimarranno.	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dalla terra, e da lei saran tolti i malfattori.	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
