1 Or non avendo quei tre uomini risposto a Giobbe che si credeva giusto,	1 Then the three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2 si adirò e si sdegnò Eliu figlio di Barachel Buzita, della stirpe di Ram. Si adirò contro Giobbe, chè si diceva giusto dinanzi a Dio;	2 But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.
3 si adirò pure contro gli amici di lui, perchè non avevan saputo trovare una risposta da accettarsi, ma s'eran limitati a condannare Giobbe.	3 He was angry also with the three friends because they had not found a good answer and had not condemned Job.
4 Eliu adunque aspettò che Giobbe avesse parlato, perchè quelli che parlavano erano più vecchi.	4 But since these men were older than he, Elihu bided his time before addressing Job.
5 Ma quando vide che i tre non eran capaci di replicare, si adirò fortemente.	5 When, however, Elihu saw that there was no reply in the mouths of the three men, his wrath was inflamed.
6 Poi Eliu figlio di Bara chel Buzita prese la parola, e disse: « Io son giovane d'anni e voi già canuti, per questo sono stato a capo basso e non ho ardito di esporvi il mio parere.	6 So Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, spoke out and said: I am young and you are very old; therefore I held back and was afraid to declare to you my knowledge.
7 Speravo infatti che parlasse l'età longeva, e che il gran numero degli anni insegnasse la sapienza;	7 Days should speak, I thought, and many years teach wisdom!
8 ma vedo bene che lo Spirito è negli uomini e l'ispirazione dell'onnipotente dà l'intelligenza.	8 But it is a spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.
9 Non i longevi sono sapienti, nè sempre i vecchi han retto discernimento.	9 It is not those of many days who are wise, nor the aged who understand the right.
10 Per questo ardisco dire: Ascoltatemi: vi mostrerò anch'io la mia sapienza.	10 Therefore I say, hearken to me; let me too set forth my knowledge!
11 Ecco, io sono stato attento ai vostri discorsi, a sentire la vostra prudenza, finché discutevate con ragionamenti.	11 Behold, I have waited for your discourses, and have given ear to your arguments.
12 Finché credevo che diceste qualche cosa, stavo attento, ma, come vedo, nessuno di voi può convincer Giobbe, e non può rispondere alle sue parole.	12 Yes, I followed you attentively as you searched out what to say; And behold, there is none who has convicted Job, not one of you who could refute his statements.
13 E non state a dire: Noi abbiamo trovato la sapienza; Dio l'ha confutato, e non l'uomo.	13 Yet do not say, "We have met wisdom. God may vanquish him but not man!"
14 Egli non mi ha detto nulla, ed io non gli risponderò coi vostri ragionamenti.	14 For had he addressed his words to me, I should not then have answered him as you have done.
15 Si sono spaventati, non han saputo che rispondere, da se stessi si son tolta la parola.	15 They are dismayed, they make no more reply; words fail them.
16 Giacché ho aspettato ed essi non parlano, e se ne stanno senza fiatare,	16 Must I wait? Now that they speak no more, and have ceased to make reply,
17 parlerò anch'io la mia parte, e mostrerò la mia scienza;	17 I too will speak my part; I also will show my knowledge!
18 perchè mi sento pieno di cose da dire, e lo spirito che porto in seno mi costringe.	18 For I am full of matters to utter; the spirit within me compels me.
19 Ecco il mio seno è come vin nuovo senza spiraglio, che rompe gli otri nuovi.	19 Like a new wineskin with wine under pressure, my bosom is ready to burst.
20 Parlerò per respirare un poco; aprirò le mie labbra per rispondere.	20 Let me speak and obtain relief; let me open my lips, and make reply.
21 Non sarò acce ttatore di persone, e non uguaglierò Dio all'uomo;	21 I would not be partial to anyone, nor give flattering titles to any.
22 perchè io non so quanto durerò ancora, e se fra poco mi toglierà dal mondo il mio Creatore ».	22 For I know nought of flattery; if I did, my Maker would soon take me away.
