Isaia 43

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ora così dice il Signore che ti ha creato, o Giacobbe, che ti ha plasmato, o Israele: «Non temere, perché io ti ho riscattato, ti ho chiamato per nome: tu mi appartieni.	1 And now, thus says Yahweh, he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: Do not be afraid, for Ihave redeemed you; I have cal ed you by your name, you are mine.
2 Se dovrai attraversare le acque, sarò con te, i fiumi non ti sommergeranno; se dovrai passare in mezzo al fuoco, non ti scotterai, la fiamma non ti potrà bruciare,	2 Should you pass through the waters, I shall be with you; or through rivers, they will not swal ow you up.Should you walk through fire, you wil not suffer, and the flame wil not burn you.
3 poiché io sono il Signore, tuo Dio, il Santo d’Israele, il tuo salvatore. Io do l’Egitto come prezzo per il tuo riscatto, l’Etiopia e Seba al tuo posto.	3 For I am Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I have given Egypt for your ransom,Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
4 Perché tu sei prezioso ai miei occhi, perché sei degno di stima e io ti amo, do uomini al tuo posto e nazioni in cambio della tua vita.	4 Since I regard you as precious, since you are honoured and I love you, I therefore give people inexchange for you, and nations in return for your life.
5 Non temere, perché io sono con te; dall’oriente farò venire la tua stirpe, dall’occidente io ti radunerò.	5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I shal bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from thewest.
6 Dirò al settentrione: “Restituisci”, e al mezzogiorno: “Non trattenere; fa’ tornare i miei figli da lontano e le mie figlie dall’estremità della terra,	6 To the north I shal say, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back!' Bring back my sonsfrom far away, and my daughters from the remotest part of the earth,
7 quelli che portano il mio nome e che per la mia gloria ho creato e plasmato e anche formato”.	7 everyone who bears my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, whom I havemade.
8 Fa’ uscire il popolo cieco, che pure ha occhi, i sordi, che pure hanno orecchi.	8 Bring forward the people that is blind, yet has eyes, that is deaf and yet has ears.
9 Si radunino insieme tutti i popoli e si raccolgano le nazioni. Chi può annunciare questo tra loro per farci udire le cose passate? Presentino i loro testimoni e avranno ragione, ce li facciano udire e avranno detto la verità.	9 Let al the nations assemble, let the peoples gather here! Which of them has proclaimed this andrevealed things to us in the past? Let them bring their witnesses to justify themselves, let others hear and say, 'Itis true.'
10 Voi siete i miei testimoni – oracolo del Signore – e il mio servo, che io mi sono scelto, perché mi conosciate e crediate in me e comprendiate che sono io. Prima di me non fu formato alcun dio né dopo ce ne sarà.	10 You yourselves are my witnesses, declares Yahweh, and the servant whom I have chosen, so thatyou may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor wil be after me.
11 Io, io sono il Signore, fuori di me non c’è salvatore.	11 I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me.
12 Io ho annunciato e ho salvato, mi sono fatto sentire e non c’era tra voi alcun dio straniero. Voi siete miei testimoni – oracolo del Signore – e io sono Dio,	12 I have revealed, have saved, and have proclaimed, not some foreigner among you. You are mywitnesses, declares Yahweh, I am God,
13 sempre il medesimo dall’eternità. Nessuno può sottrarre nulla al mio potere: chi può cambiare quanto io faccio?».	13 yes, from eternity I am. No one can deliver from my hand; when I act, who can thwart me?
14 Così dice il Signore, vostro redentore, il Santo d’Israele: «Per amore vostro l’ho mandato contro Babilonia e farò cadere tutte le loro spranghe, e, quanto ai Caldei, muterò i loro clamori in lutto.	14 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, Ishall knock down al the prison bars, and the Chaldaeans' shouts of joy wil change to lamentations.
15 Io sono il Signore, il vostro Santo, il creatore d’Israele, il vostro re».	15 I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your king.
16 Così dice il Signore, che aprì una strada nel mare e un sentiero in mezzo ad acque possenti,	16 Thus says Yahweh, who made a way through the sea, a path in the raging waters,
17 che fece uscire carri e cavalli, esercito ed eroi a un tempo; essi giacciono morti, mai più si rialzeranno, si spensero come un lucignolo, sono estinti:	17 who led out chariot and horse together with an army of picked troops: they lay down never to riseagain, they were snuffed out, put out like a wick.
18 «Non ricordate più le cose passate, non pensate più alle cose antiche!	18 No need to remember past events, no need to think about what was done before.
19 Ecco, io faccio una cosa nuova: proprio ora germoglia, non ve ne accorgete? Aprirò anche nel deserto una strada, immetterò fiumi nella steppa.	19 Look, I am doing something new, now it emerges; can you not see it? Yes, I am making a road in thedesert and rivers in wastelands.
20 Mi glorificheranno le bestie selvatiche, sciacalli e struzzi, perché avrò fornito acqua al deserto, fiumi alla steppa, per dissetare il mio popolo, il mio eletto.	20 The wild animals wil honour me, the jackals and the ostriches, for bestowing water in the desert andrivers on the wastelands for my people, my chosen one, to drink.
21 Il popolo che io ho plasmato per me celebrerà le mie lodi.	21 The people I have shaped for myself wil broadcast my praises.
22 Invece tu non mi hai invocato, o Giacobbe; anzi ti sei stancato di me, o Israele.	22 But, Jacob, you have not invoked me; no, Israel, you have grown weary of me.
23 Non mi hai portato neppure un agnello per l’olocausto, non mi hai onorato con i tuoi sacrifici. Io non ti ho molestato con richieste di offerte, né ti ho stancato esigendo incenso.	23 You have not brought me lambs as your burnt offerings and have not honoured me with yoursacrifices. I have not subjected you to cereal offering, I have not wearied you by demanding incense.
24 Non hai acquistato con denaro la cannella per me né mi hai saziato con il grasso dei tuoi sacrifici. Ma tu mi hai dato molestia con i peccati, mi hai stancato con le tue iniquità.	24 You have not bought expensive reed for me or sated me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead byyour sins you have trected me like a slave, you have wearied me with your crimes,
25 Io, io cancello i tuoi misfatti per amore di me stesso, e non ricordo più i tuoi peccati.	25 I, I it is who blot out your acts of revolt for my own sake and shal not cal your sins to mind.
26 Fammi ricordare, discutiamo insieme; parla tu per giustificarti.	26 Remind me, and we will judge this together; state your own case and justify yourself.
27 Il tuo primo padre peccò, i tuoi intermediari mi furono ribelli.	27 Your first ancestor sinned, your interpreters revolted against me.
28 Perciò profanai i capi del santuario e ho votato Giacobbe all’anatema, Israele alle ingiurie».	28 That is why I deposed the chief men of my sanctuary, why I put Jacob under the curse of destructionand subjected Israel to insult.
