1 Dio che fai giustizia, o Signore, Dio che fai giustizia: mostrati!	1 LORD, avenging God, avenging God, shine forth!
2 Alzati, giudice della terra, rendi la ricompensa ai superbi.	2 Rise up, judge of the earth; give the proud what they deserve.
3 Fino a quando gli empi, Signore, fino a quando gli empi trionferanno?	3 How long, LORD, shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked glory?
4 Sparleranno, diranno insolenze, si vanteranno tutti i malfattori?	4 How long will they mouth haughty speeches, go on boasting, all these evildoers?
5 Signore, calpestano il tuo popolo, opprimono la tua eredità.	5 They crush your people, LORD, torment your very own.
6 Uccidono la vedova e il forestiero, danno la morte agli orfani.	6 They kill the widow and alien; the fatherless they murder.
7 Dicono: "Il Signore non vede, il Dio di Giacobbe non se ne cura".	7 They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."
8 Comprendete, insensati tra il popolo, stolti, quando diventerete saggi?	8 Understand, you stupid people! You fools, when will you be wise?
9 Chi ha formato l'orecchio, forse non sente? Chi ha plasmato l'occhio, forse non guarda?	9 Does the one who shaped the ear not hear? The one who formed the eye not see?
10 Chi regge i popoli forse non castiga, lui che insegna all'uomo il sapere?	10 Does the one who guides nations not rebuke? The one who teaches humans not have knowledge?
11 Il Signore conosce i pensieri dell'uomo: non sono che un soffio.	11 The LORD does know human plans; they are only puffs of air.
12 Beato l'uomo che tu istruisci, Signore, e che ammaestri nella tua legge,	12 Happy those whom you guide, LORD, whom you teach by your instruction.
13 per dargli riposo nei giorni di sventura, finché all'empio sia scavata la fossa.	13 You give them rest from evil days, while a pit is being dug for the wicked.
14 Perché il Signore non respinge il suo popolo, la sua eredità non la può abbandonare,	14 You, LORD, will not forsake your people, nor abandon your very own.
15 ma il giudizio si volgerà a giustizia, la seguiranno tutti i retti di cuore.	15 Judgment shall again be just, and all the upright of heart will follow it.
16 Chi sorgerà per me contro i malvagi? Chi starà con me contro i malfattori?	16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
17 Se il Signore non fosse il mio aiuto, in breve io abiterei nel regno del silenzio.	17 If the LORD were not my help, I would long have been silent in the grave.
18 Quando dicevo: "Il mio piede vacilla", la tua grazia, Signore, mi ha sostenuto.	18 When I say, "My foot is slipping," your love, LORD, holds me up.
19 Quand'ero oppresso dall'angoscia, il tuo conforto mi ha consolato.	19 When cares increase within me, your comfort gives me joy.
20 Può essere tuo alleato un tribunale iniquo, che fa angherie contro la legge?	20 Can unjust judges be your allies, those who create burdens in the name of law,
21 Si avventano contro la vita del giusto, e condannano il sangue innocente.	21 Those who conspire against the just and condemn the innocent to death?
22 Ma il Signore è la mia difesa, roccia del mio rifugio è il mio Dio;	22 No, the LORD is my secure height, my God, the rock where I find refuge,
23 egli ritorcerà contro di essi la loro malizia, per la loro perfidia li farà perire, li farà perire il Signore, nostro Dio.	23 Who will turn back their evil upon them and destroy them for their wickedness. Surely the LORD our God will destroy them!
