Proverbi 3

BIBBIA MARTINI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figliuol mio, non ti scordare della mia legge, e serba in cuor tuo li miei insegnamenti:	1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.
2 Perocché questi frutteranno a te lunghezza di giorni, e anni di vita, e pace:	2 For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.
3 Non si distacchino dal tuo fianco la misericordia, e la verità: fanne monile al tuo collo, e portale scritte nelle tavole del tuo cuore,	3 Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.
4 E sarai adorno di grazia, e di modesti costumi nel cospetto di Dio, e degli uomini.	4 And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.
5 Spera con tutto il cuor tuo nel Signore, e non appoggiarti alla tua prudenza.	5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.
6 In tutte le tue circostanze ripensa a lui, ed egli reggerà i tuoi passi.	6 In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.
7 Non esser sapiente negli occhi tuoi; temi Dio, e fuggì dal male:	7 Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.
8 Perocché cosi goderan sanità le tue viscere, e fresche saran le tue ossa.	8 Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.
9 Onora il Signore colle tue facoltà, e da a lui le primizie di tutti i frutti tuoi:	9 Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,
10 E i tuoi granaj si empieranno quanto bramar tu puoi, e le tue cantine ridonderanno di vino.	10 and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.
11 Figliuol mio, non rigettare la correzione del Signore, e non attediarti quand'ei ti gastiga:	11 My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.
12 Perocché corregge il Signore quelli che ama: e ne' quali pone il suo alletto, come un padre nel figlio.	12 For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.
13 Beato l'uomo, che ha fatto acquisto della sapienza, e il quale è ricco di prudenza:	13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.
14 L'acquisto di lei più vale, che l'acquisto dell'argento, e i frutti di lei più che l'oro eletto, e finissimo:	14 Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.
15 Ella è più pregevole di tutte le ricchezze, e le cose più stimate non posson mettersi in paragone con essa.	15 She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.
16 Ella ha nella destra mano la lunga vita, nella sinistra le ricchezze, e la gloria.	16 Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.
17 Le vie di lei, vie belle, e in tutti i suoi sentieri è la pace.	17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Ella è l'albero della vita per quelli, che la abbracciano, ed è beato chi al suo seno la stringe.	18 She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.
19 Per la sapienza il Signore fondò la terra, e i cieli ordinò per mezzo della prudenza.	19 The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.
20 Per la sapienza di lui scaturirono le sorgenti, e le nubi in rugiada si addensano.	20 By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.
21 Figliuol mio, non perder queste cose di vista giammai: osserva la legge, e i miei consigli:	21 My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.
22 Ed ei saranno vita all'anima tua, e ornamento al tuo collo:	22 And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.
23 Allora tu camminerai con fidanza per la tua strada, e non troverà inciampo il tuo piede:	23 Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 In dormendo sarai senza paure; riposerai, e sarà il tuo sonno soave:	24 When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.
25 Non temerai di repentino spavento, nè della possanza degli empj, che ti assalisca.	25 Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.
26 Perocché il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, e governerà i tuoi passi, affinchè tu non sii loro preda.	26 For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.
27 Non impedire, che faccia del bene colui, che può: e se puoi tu, fa del bene.	27 Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.
28 Non dire al tuo amico: Va, e ritorna, demane ti darò, quando tu puoi dar subito.	28 Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.
29 Non macchinare alcun male contro del tuo amico, mentre quegli si fida di te.	29 Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.
30 Non litigare con verun uomo senza motivo, quando quegli non ha fatto a te nissun male	30 Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.
31 Non portar invidia all'uomo in giusto, e non imitare i suoi andamenti.	31 Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.
32 Perocché gli schernitori tutti sono in abbominazione dinanzi al Signore, e la sua confabulazione è co' semplici.	32 For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.
33 Dal Signore è mandata la miseria a casa dell'empio; ma saran benedette le abitazioni de' giusti.	33 Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 Daluigli schernitori saranno scherniti, e sarà data la grazia ai mansueti.	34 He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.
35 I saggj avran per loro retaggio la gloria: l'esaltazione degli stolti è la loro ignominia.	35 The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.
