1 Oracolo sull’Egitto. Ecco, il Signore cavalca una nube leggera ed entra in Egitto. Crollano gli idoli dell’Egitto davanti a lui e agli Egiziani viene meno il cuore nel petto.	1 Oracle on Egypt: See, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud on his way to Egypt; The idols of Egypt tremble before him, the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them.
2 «Aizzerò gli Egiziani contro gli Egiziani: combatterà ognuno contro il proprio fratello, ognuno contro il proprio prossimo, città contro città e regno contro regno.	2 I will rouse Egypt against Egypt: brother will war against brother, Neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kindgom.
3 Lo spirito che anima l’Egitto sarà stravolto e io distruggerò il suo progetto; per questo ricorreranno agli idoli e ai maghi, ai negromanti e agli indovini.	3 The courage of the Egyptians ebbs away within them, and I will bring to nought their counsel; They shall consult idols and charmers, ghosts and spirits.
4 Ma io consegnerò gli Egiziani in mano a un duro padrone, un re crudele li dominerà». Oracolo del Signore, il Signore degli eserciti.	4 I will deliver Egypt into the power of a cruel master, A harsh king who shall rule over them, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
5 Si prosciugheranno le acque del mare, il fiume si inaridirà e seccherà.	5 The waters shall be drained from the sea, the river shall shrivel and dry up;
6 I suoi canali diventeranno putridi, diminuiranno e seccheranno i torrenti dell’Egitto, canne e giunchi sfioriranno.	6 Its streams shall become foul, and the canals of Egypt shall dwindle and dry up. Reeds and rushes shall wither away,
7 I giunchi sulle rive e alla foce del Nilo e tutte le piante del Nilo seccheranno, saranno dispersi dal vento, non saranno più.	7 and bulrushes on the bank of the Nile; All the sown land along the Nile shall dry up and blow away, and be no more.
8 I pescatori si lamenteranno, gemeranno quanti gettano l’amo nel Nilo, quanti stendono le reti sull’acqua saranno desolati.	8 The fishermen shall mourn and lament, all who cast hook in the Nile; Those who spread their nets in the water shall pine away.
9 Saranno delusi i lavoratori del lino, le cardatrici e i tessitori impallidiranno;	9 The linen-workers shall be disappointed, the combers and weavers shall turn pale;
10 i tessitori saranno avviliti, tutti i salariati saranno costernati.	10 The spinners shall be crushed, all the hired laborers shall be despondent.
11 Quanto sono stolti i prìncipi di Tanis! I più saggi consiglieri del faraone formano un consiglio insensato. Come osate dire al faraone: «Sono figlio di saggi, figlio di re antichi»?	11 Utter fools are the princes of Zoan! the wisest of Pharaoh's advisers give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, "I am a disciple of wise men, of ancient kings"?
12 Dove sono, dunque, i tuoi saggi? Ti rivelino e manifestino quanto ha deciso il Signore degli eserciti a proposito dell’Egitto.	12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and make known What the LORD of hosts has planned against Egypt.
13 Stolti sono i prìncipi di Tanis; si ingannano i prìncipi di Menfi. Hanno fatto traviare l’Egitto i capi delle sue tribù.	13 The princes of Zoan have become fools, the princes of Memphis have been deceived. The chiefs of her tribes have led Egypt astray.
14 Il Signore ha mandato in mezzo a loro uno spirito di smarrimento; essi fanno smarrire l’Egitto in ogni impresa, come barcolla un ubriaco nel vomito.	14 The LORD has prepared among them a spirit of dizziness, And they have made Egypt stagger in whatever she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.
15 Non gioverà all’Egitto qualunque opera faccia il capo o la coda, la palma o il giunco.	15 Egypt shall have no work to do for head or tail, palm branch or reed.
16 In quel giorno gli Egiziani diventeranno come femmine, tremeranno e temeranno al vedere la mano che il Signore degli eserciti agiterà contro di loro.	16 On that day the Egyptians shall be like women, trembling with fear, because of the LORD of hosts shaking his fist at them.
17 La terra di Giuda sarà il terrore degli Egiziani; quando se ne parlerà, ne avranno spavento, a causa della decisione che il Signore degli eserciti ha preso contro di loro.	17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror to the Egyptians. Every time they remember Judah, they shall stand in dread because of the plan which the LORD of hosts has in mind for them.
18 In quel giorno ci saranno cinque città nell’Egitto che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e giureranno per il Signore degli eserciti; una di esse si chiamerà Città del Sole.	18 On that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan and swearing by the LORD of hosts; one shall be called "City of the Sun."
19 In quel giorno ci sarà un altare dedicato al Signore in mezzo alla terra d’Egitto e una stele in onore del Signore presso la sua frontiera:	19 On that day there shall be an altar to the LORD in the land of Egypt, and a sacred pillar to the LORD near the boundary.
20 sarà un segno e una testimonianza per il Signore degli eserciti nella terra d’Egitto. Quando, di fronte agli avversari, invocheranno il Signore, allora egli manderà loro un salvatore che li difenderà e li libererà.	20 It shall be a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt, when they cry out to the LORD against their oppressors, and he sends them a savior to defend and deliver them.
21 Il Signore si farà conoscere agli Egiziani e gli Egiziani riconosceranno in quel giorno il Signore, lo serviranno con sacrifici e offerte, faranno voti al Signore e li adempiranno.	21 The LORD shall make himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day; they shall offer sacrifices and oblations, and fulfill the vows they make to the LORD.
22 Il Signore percuoterà ancora gli Egiziani, ma, una volta colpiti, li risanerà. Essi faranno ritorno al Signore ed egli si placherà e li risanerà.	22 Although the LORD shall smite Egypt severely, he shall heal them; they shall turn to the LORD and he shall be won over and heal them.
23 In quel giorno ci sarà una strada dall’Egitto verso l’Assiria; l’Assiro andrà in Egitto e l’Egiziano in Assiria, e gli Egiziani renderanno culto insieme con gli Assiri.	23 On that day there shall be a highway from Egypt to Assyria; the Assyrians shall enter Egypt, and the Egyptians enter Assyria, and Egypt shall serve Assyria.
24 In quel giorno Israele sarà il terzo con l’Egitto e l’Assiria, una benedizione in mezzo alla terra.	24 On that day Israel shall be a third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the land,
25 Li benedirà il Signore degli eserciti dicendo: «Benedetto sia l’Egiziano mio popolo, l’Assiro opera delle mie mani e Israele mia eredità».	25 when the LORD of hosts blesses it: "Blessed be my people Egypt, and the work of my hands Assyria, and my inheritance, Israel."
