Siracide 45

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 [Un uomo] caro a Dio e agli uomini, Mosè, la cui memoria è in benedizione.	1 Moses was beloved by God and men. The remembrance of him is a blessing.
2 Lo fece pari ai santi nella gloria, e grande per il timore incusso a' nemici. Con la parola di lui fe'cessare i prodigi,	2 He made him like the holy ones in glory, and he magnified him by the fear of his enemies, and he appeased great portents by his words.
3 e lo glorificò al cospetto dei re. E diede a Lui gli ordini per il suo popolo, e gli mostrò la propria gloria.	3 He glorified him in the sight of kings, and he gave commandments to him in the sight of his people, and he revealed his glory to him.
4 Per la sua fede e mansuetudine lo consacrò, lo scelse tra tutti i viventi.	4 He made him holy by his faith and meekness, and he chose him from among all flesh.
5 E gli fece udire la sua voce, e lo fece entrare nella nuvola.	5 For he heard him and his voice, and he led him into a cloud.
6 E gli diede a faccia a faccia i comandamenti, e la legge della vita e del sapere, perchè Istruisse Giacobbe nel suo patto e nelle sue prescrizioni Israele.	6 And he gave him precepts in his presence, with a law of life and discipline, so as to teach Jacob his covenant and Israel his judgments.
7 Esaltò [anche] Aronne suo fratello, e simile a lui, della tribù di Levi.	7 He exalted his brother Aaron and those who were similar to him from the tribe of Levi.
8 Stabilì con lui un patto eterno, e gli conferì il sacerdozio del popolo, e lo colmò di magnificenza.	8 He established an eternal covenant with him, and he gave him the priesthood of the people, and he caused him to be blessed in glory.
9 E lo cinse d'una fascia di gloria, e lo rivestì di magnifica veste; e l'ornò d'indumenti maestosi,	9 And he encircled him with a glorious belt, and he clothed him with a robe of glory, and he crowned him with virtuous attire.
10 gli diede la tunica, le brache e l'efod. E lo circondò di [melagrani] d'oro, e di molti sonagli in giro,	10 He placed upon him a garment to the feet, and pants, and an ephod, and he wrapped him all around with many little bells of gold,
11 che risonassero al suo incedere, e facessero udire il [loro] suono nel tempio, ad avvertimento de' figliuoli del suo popolo.	11 so that there would be a sound at his arrival, and so as to make a noise that would be heard in the temple, as a memorial for the sons of his people.
12 [Lo rivestì] di un paramento santo, tessuto d'oro, di giacinto e di porpora, del razionale del giudizio - oracolo di verità, —	12 He provided him with a holy robe of gold and hyacinth and purple, a woven work for a wise man of judgment and truth,
13 di [Alo] torto scarlatto, lavoro d'artista, con pietre preziose intagliate a mo'di sigillo, in legatura d'oro e incise per opera di lapidario, sì da essere un memoriale, secondo il numero della tribù d'Israele.	13 a work of twisted scarlet, the work of an artist, with precious stones, cut and set in gold, and engraved by the work of a jeweler, as a memorial according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
14 Gli [pose] una corona d'oro sulla sua tiara, improntata col sigillo della consacrazione, insegna d'onore, lavoro squisito, delizia degli occhi e splendido ornamento.	14 He provided him with a crown of gold upon his headdress, on which was written a symbol of holiness, a mark of honor. This was a work of virtue and a delight to the eyes in its beauty.
15 Prima di lui non ci fu nulla di simile da che mondo è mondo;	15 Prior to him, there was no one of such beauty, even from the beginning.
16 nessuno straniero mal se ne rivestì, ma solo i figliuoli di lui, e i suoi discendenti in perpetuo.	16 No foreigner was ever clothed with these things, but only his sons and his descendents alone, for all time.
17 I suoi sacrifizi furon consumati dal fuoco due volte ogni giorno [senza interruzione],	17 His sacrifices were consumed by fire daily.
18 Mosè gli riempì le mani, e l'unse con olio santo.	18 Moses filled his hands and anointed him with holy oil.
19 E fu [fermato] così un patto eterno con lui, e con la sua stirpe per la durata de' cieli, di [ministrare al Signore ed] esercitare il sacerdozio, e benedire il suo popolo nel nome di lui.	19 An eternal covenant was made, with him and with his offspring, like the days of heaven, to execute the office of the priesthood, and to give praise and to glorify his people, in his name.
20 Lo scelse Dio tra tutt'i viventi, per offrire al Signore il sacrifizio, l'incenso e il profumo soave in memoria, per propiziarlo col suo popolo.	20 He chose him from among all living men to offer to God sacrifice, incense, and a pleasing fragrance, as a memorial of appeasement on behalf of his people.
21 E gli dette nei suoi comandamenti, autorità sulle disposizioni del [sacro] patto, per insegnare a Giacobbe i [suoi] precetti, e illuminare Israele nella sua legge.	21 And he gave him authority by his precepts, in the covenants of his judgments, to teach Jacob his testimonies, and to give light by his law to Israel.
22 Contro di lui si levaron de' profani, e con insidia l'attorniarono nel deserto, gli uomini [cioè] del partito di Datan e Abiron e la fazione di Gore, con furore [ed ira].	22 Then strangers stood up against him, and, because of envy, the men who were with Dathan and Abiram surrounded him in the desert, along with the congregation of Korah, in their anger.
23 Vide [ciò] il Signore e non gli piacque, e furon sterminati in un impeto d'ira.	23 The Lord God saw this, and it did not please him, and so they were consumed by the force of his anger.
24 Operò prodigi contro di loro, e li divorò con la fiamma del [suo] fuoco.	24 He wrought great portents among them, and he consumed them with a flame of fire.
25 E accrebbe la gloria d'Aronne, e gli assegnò l'ereditò. Le primizie de' prodotti del suoio distribuì ad esso:	25 And he added glory to Aaron, and he gave him an inheritance, and he allotted to him the first-fruits of the earth.
26 il pane anzitutto fornì loro a sazietà, perchè mangeranno de' sacrifizi del Signore, ch'egli assegnò a lui e alla sua stirpe.	26 He prepared for them the finest bread unto fullness. And they shall also eat from the sacrifices of the Lord, which he gave to him and to his offspring.
27 Però nel territorio del popolo egli non ha eredità, e non gli è toccata parte tra la sua gente: perchè Egli stesso, [il Signore], è la sua parte e la sua eredità.	27 And yet he will not have an inheritance among the people of the land, and he has no portion among the people. For the Lord himself is his portion and his inheritance.
28 Finees, figliuolo di Eleazaro, è il terzo nella gloria, per aver gareggiato con lui nel timor del Signore,	28 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, is third in glory, by imitating him in the fear of the Lord.
29 e per esser rimasto saldo, In mezzo alla defezione del popolo, con la nobiltà e la risoluzione dell'animo suo, [sicché] propiziò Dio con Israele.	29 And he stood up against the shamefulness of the people. By the goodness and responsiveness of his soul, he appeased God on behalf of Israel.
30 Perciò [il Signore] fermò con lui un patto di pace, [che lo istituiva] capo delle cose sante e del suo popolo, affinchè a lui e alla sua progenie appartenesse la dignità del sacerdozio in eterno.	30 For this reason, he made him a covenant of peace, a leader of the sanctuary and of his people, so that the dignity of the priesthood would remain with him and with his offspring unto eternity.
31 E [come per] il patto con David, figliuolo di Jesse della tribù di Giuda, [l'eredità del re passa solo di figlio in figlio], [così] l'eredità [d'Aronne tocca] a lui c alla sua discendenza. Dia [il Signore] a voi, [o sacerdoti], la sapienza nel cuore, per giudicare il suo popolo con equità, perchè non cessi la sua prosperità, e la sua gloria in eterno!	31 And he made a covenant with king David, the son of Jesse from the tribe of Judah, an inheritance for him and for his offspring, so that he might provide wisdom for our hearts, so as to judge his people in justice, lest their good things be abolished. And he caused their glory within their nation to be everlasting.
