1 La bilancia falsa è in abominio davanti al Signore, gli piace il peso giusto.	1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is his delight.
2 Dove sarà la superbia vi sarà anche lo smacco, e dove l'umiltà anche la sapienza.	2 When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
3 La semplicità dei giusti sarà loro guida, la doppiezza dei malvagi sarà la loro perdizione.	3 The honesty of the upright guides them; the faithless are ruined by their duplicity.
4 A nulla gioveranno le ricchezze nel giorno dell'ira, ma la giustizia libererà dalla morte.	4 Wealth is useless on the day of wrath, but virtue saves from death.
5 La giustizia dell'uomo retto ne appiana la via, l'empio cadrà per la sua empietà.	5 The honest man's virtue makes his way straight, but by his wickedness the wicked man falls.
6 La giustizia degli uomini onesti li salverà, e gli iniqui resteran presi nei loro inganni.	6 The virtue of the upright saves them, but the faithless are caught in their own intrigue.
7 Morto che sia, l'empio non avrà più speranza, e l'attesa degli ambiziosi sarà delusa,	7 When a wicked man dies his hope perishes, and what is expected from strength comes to nought.
8 Il giusto è liberato dall'angustia, e in suo luogo sarà consegnato l'empio.	8 The just man escapes trouble, and the wicked man falls into it in his stead.
9 L'ipocrita colla bocca inganna il suo amico, ma i giusti saran liberati dalla scienza.	9 With his mouth the impious man would ruin his neighbor, but through their knowledge the just make their escape.
10 La città farà festa per la prosperità dei giusti e manderà grida di giubilo per la perdizione degli empi.	10 When the just prosper, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11 La città sarà esaltata dalla benedizione dei giusti, sarà mandata in rovina dalla bocca degli empi.	11 Through the blessing of the righteous the city is exalted, but through the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
12 Chi disprezza l'amico non ha cuore: l'uomo prudente tace.	12 He who reviles his neighbor has no sense, but the intelligent man keeps silent.
13 Chi procede con inganno rivela i segreti, ma chi è d'animo fedele tiene segreto ciò che l'amico gli ha confidato.	13 A newsmonger reveals secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
14 Quando manca un governo il popolo andrà in rovina, la salvezza sta nell'aver molti consigli.	14 For lack of guidance a people falls; security lies in many counselors.
15 Si troverà male chi si fa mallevadore per uno straniero, chi si guarda dai lacci sarà sicuro.	15 He is in a bad way who becomes surety for another, but he who hates giving pledges is safe.
16 La donna graziosa troverà omaggi, e i forti avran ricchezze.	16 A gracious woman wins esteem, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. (The slothful become impoverished, but the diligent gain wealth.)
17 L'uomo misericordioso fa del bene all'anima sua, ma il crudele caccia anche i più stretti parenti.	17 A kindly man benefits himself, but a merciless man harms himself.
18 L'empio fa opera che non dura, ma chi semina giustizia ha sicura ricompensa.	18 The wicked man makes empty profits, but he who sows virture has a sure reward.
19 La clemenza prepara la vita; l'andar dietro al male, la morte.	19 Virtue directs toward life, but he who pursues evil does so to his death.
20 Dio ha in abominio il cuore perverso, e mette le sue compiacenze in quelli che procedono con rettitudine.	20 The depraved in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those who walk blamelessly are his delight.
21 Anche colle mani in mano non andrà impunito il perverso, ma la stirpe dei giusti sarà salvata.	21 Truly the evil man shall not go unpunished, but those who are just shall escape.
22 Anello d'oro nel grifo d'una troia è una donna bella e stolta.	22 Like a golden ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman with a rebellious disposition.
23 Il desiderio dei giusti è ogni bene, l'attesa degli empi è l'ira.	23 The desire of the just ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Alcuni fan parte di quello che hanno e diventan più ricchi, altri rubano l'altrui e son sempre in miseria.	24 One man is lavish yet grows still richer; another is too sparing, yet is the poorer.
25 L'anima benefica sarà nell'abbondanza, e chi inebria sarà inebriato.	25 He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26 Chi nasconde il grano sarà maledetto dai popoli, le benedizioni fioccheran sul capo di chi lo vende.	26 Him who monopolizes grain, the people curse-- but blessings upon the head of him who distributes it!
27 Con ragione si alza di buon mattino chi cerca il bene, ma chi cerca di fare il male resterà schiacciato.	27 He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
28 Chi confida nelle sue ricchezze cadrà, e i giusti fioriranno come verde fronda.	28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but like green leaves the just flourish.
29 Chi mette in scompiglio la sua casa erediterà del vento, e lo stolto servirà al sapiente.	29 He who upsets his household has empty air for a heritage; and the fool will become slave to the wise man.
30 Il frutto del giusto è albero di vita, e chi si prende cura delle anime è sapiente.	30 The fruit of virtue is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away.
31 Se il giusto sulla terra ha (la sua pena), quanto più l'empio e il peccatore?	31 If the just man is punished on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
