BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Perché le genti congiurano perché invano cospirano i popoli?	1 Why this uproar among the nations, this impotent muttering of the peoples?
2 Insorgono i re della terra e i principi congiurano insieme contro il Signore e contro il suo Messia:	2 Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed,
3 "Spezziamo le loro catene, gettiamo via i loro legami".	3 'Now let us break their fetters! Now let us throw off their bonds!'
4 Se ne ride chi abita i cieli, li schernisce dall'alto il Signore.	4 He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them,
5 Egli parla loro con ira, li spaventa nel suo sdegno:	5 then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror.
6 "Io l'ho costituito mio sovrano sul Sion mio santo monte".	6 'I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.'
7 Annunzierò il decreto del Signore. Egli mi ha detto: "Tu sei mio figlio, io oggi ti ho generato.	7 I wil proclaim the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, 'You are my son, today have I fathered you.
8 Chiedi a me, ti darò in possesso le genti e in dominio i confini della terra.	8 Ask of me, and I shal give you the nations as your birthright, the whole wide world as your possession.
9 Le spezzerai con scettro di ferro, come vasi di argilla le frantumerai".	9 With an iron sceptre you wil break them, shatter them like so many pots.'
10 E ora, sovrani, siate saggi istruitevi, giudici della terra;	10 So now, you kings, come to your senses, you earthly rulers, learn your lesson!
11 servite Dio con timore e con tremore esultate;	11 In fear be submissive to Yahweh;
12 che non si sdegni e voi perdiate la via. Improvvisa divampa la sua ira. Beato chi in lui si rifugia.	12 with trembling kiss his feet, lest he be angry and your way come to nothing, for his fury flares up in amoment. How blessed are al who take refuge in him!
