BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore parlommi, e disse:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Figliuolo dell'uomo, propohi un enimma, e racconta una parabola alla casa d'Israele;	2 'Son of man, put a riddle, propound a parable to the House of Israel.
3 Tu adunque dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Un'aquila grande di vaste ali, di membra molto estese, piena di piume a varj colori venne sul Libano, e portò via la midolla del cedro.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: A great eagle with great wings, long-pinioned, rich with many-coloured plumage, came to the Lebanon.
4 Strappò la punta della sue frondi, e le trasportò nella terra di Chanaan, e posolle in una città mercantile.	4 He took the top of the cedar tree, he plucked off the top branch, he carried it off to the country ofmerchants and set it down in a city of shopkeepers.
5 E prese del seme di quella terra, e seminollo in terra, affinchè gettasse sua radice sopra grandi acque: lo seminò terra terra.	5 Next, he took one of the country's seeds and put it in a fertile field; by the side of a generous stream,like a wil ow tree, he placed it.
6 E questo, avendo germinato, crebbe in ampia vite, poco elevata, i cui rami si volgevan verso di quella, e le sue radici erano sotto di lei. Ella adunque diventò una vigna, e gettò tralci, e frutti, e propagini.	6 It grew and became a fruitful vine of modest size, grew up towards the eagle, its roots grewdownwards. So it became a vine, branching out and sprouting new shoots.
7 E fu un'altra aquila grande, con vaste ali, e folte piume: ed ecco, che quella vigna rivolse le sue radici, e stese i suoi tralci verso di questa, per essere irrigati dai rivi di lei fecondanti.	7 But there was another great eagle with great wings and thick plumage. And now the vine twisted itsroots towards him and stretched its branches towards him, for him to water it away from the bed where it wasplanted.
8 La vigna è piantata in buon terreno, e presso ad acque copiose, affinchè si dilati frondeggiando, e porti frutto, e diventi una vigna grande.	8 It was in a fertile field, by the side of a wide stream that the vine had been planted, to branch out andbear fruit and become a noble vine."
9 Tu dirai: Cosi dice il Signore Dio: Sarà ella fortunata? Non isterperà ella (l'aquila) le radici di lei, e ne svellerà i frutti, e ne farà seccar tutti i tralci, che ella aveva gettato, ed ella resterà arido legno; e senza che sia bisogno di gran braccio, né di molta gente per ischiantarla dalle radici?	9 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Will it succeed? Wil the eagle not tear out its roots and strip off itsfruit, so that al the new leaves it puts out wil wither, and no great strength is needed nor many people to pul itup by the roots?
10 Ecco, che ella è piantata: ma avrà ella sorte felice? Non è egli vero, che se il vento, che brucia, la toccherà, ella seccherà, e con tutti i rivi, che la fecondano, diverrà arida?	10 Planted it may be -- wil it succeed? Wil it not shrivel up when the east wind blows? It wil wither inthe bed where it was growing!" '
11 E il Signore parlommi, dicendo:	11 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:
12 Dì alla famiglia contumace: Non sapete voi quel, che ciò voglia dire? Ecco, che il re di Babilonia viene a Gerusalemme, e prenderà il re, e i suoi grandi, e li condurrà a casa sua in Babilonia.	12 'Say to that tribe of rebels, "Do you not know what this means?" Say this, 'Look, the king of Babyloncame to Jerusalem; he carried away the king and the princes, and took them to his home in Babylon.
13 E piglierà una della stirpe reale,e farà alleanza con lui, e da lui riceverà giuramento: ma condurrà via anche i valorosi del paese,	13 He took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, forcing him to swear loyalty, havingalready deported the leading men of the country,
14 Affinchè il regno resti basso, e non s'innalzi, ma osservi, e mantenga l'alleanza.	14 so that the kingdom would remain modest and without ambitions, and would keep and honour histreaty.
15 Ma quegli ritirandosi da lui mandò ambasciadore all'Egitto per avere i suoi cavalli, e molte milizie. Sarà egli fortunato, o troverà salute un che ha fatte cose tali? E uno che ha rotto l'alleanza, potrà egli mettersi in salvo?	15 But the prince rebelled against him and sent envoys to Egypt to procure himself horses and a largenumber of troops. Wil he succeed? Wil a man who has done this go unpunished? Can he break a treaty and gounpunished?
16 Lo giuro, dice il Signore Dio, che nel paese del re (il quale lo avea posto sul trono, e cui ha offeso rompendo il giuramento, e violando il patto fatto con lui) nel mezzo di Babilonia ei morrà.	16 As I live, I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- in Babylon, in the country of the king who put himon the throne, whose oath he has disregarded and whose treaty he has broken, there he will die.
17 Né con grande esercito, ne colla gran moltitudine Faraone verrà a battaglia contro di lui nel tempo, che si alzerà terra, e si faranno le trincee per uccidere molta gente.	17 Despite the pharaoh's great army and hordes of men, he wil not be able to save him by fighting,however many earthworks are raised, however many trenches dug to the loss of many lives.
18 Imperocché quegli avea sprezzato il giuramento, e rotta l'alleanza, ed ecco dà mano ad un'altra; e dopo aver fatto tutto questo non iscamperà.	18 He has disregarded the oath by breaking the treaty to which he had pledged himself and, havingdone al this, wil not go unpunished.
19 Per questo così dice il Signore Dio: Io giuro, che il muramento, cui egli ha sprezzato, e l'alleanza, che egli ha violato, porrò sul capo di lui.	19 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it: my oath which he has disregarded, my treatywhich he has broken, I shall make them both recoil on his own head.
20 Estenderò sopra di lui la mia rete, ed ei sarà preso al mio laccio, e io lo condurrò a Babilonia, ed ivi farò giudizio di lui per la prevaricazione, colla quale ha sprezzato me.	20 I shal throw my net over him, he wil be caught in my mesh; I shall take him to Babylon and punishhim there for being unfaithful to me.
21 E tutti i suoi fuggitivi con tutte le sue schiere periranno di spada; e gli avanzi saranno spersi a tutti i venti: e conoscerete, che io il Signore ho parlato.	21 Al the pick of al his troops wil fal by the sword, and the survivors be scattered to al the winds. Andyou wil know that I, Yahweh, have spoken.
22 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Ma io prenderò della midolla del cedro sublime, e la porrò; taglierà dalla vetta de' suoi rami un tenero ramoscello, e pianterollo sul monte alto, ed eminente;	22 "The Lord Yahweh says this: From the top of the tal cedar tree, from the highest branch I shal take ashoot and plant it myself on a high and lofty mountain.
23 Sul monte sublime d'Israele lo pianterò, e spunterà in arboscello, e fruttificherà, e diventerà un gran cedro: e sotto di lui avranno albergo tutti gli augelli, e tutte le specie di volatili all'ombra di lui faranno lor nido.	23 I shal plant it on the highest mountain in Israel. It wil put out branches and bear fruit and grow into anoble cedar tree. Every kind of bird wil live beneath it, every kind of winged creature will rest in the shade of itsbranches.
24 E gli alberi tutti del paese conosceranno, ch'io il Signore ho umiliato l'albero sublime, ed ho esaltata la umile pianta, ed ho seccato il legno verde, ed ho vestito di frondi l'arido legno. Io il Signore ho parlato, ed ho fatto.	24 And al the trees of the countryside wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who lays the tal tree lowand raises the low tree high, who makes the green tree wither and makes the withered bear fruit. I, Yahweh,have spoken, and I wil do it." '
