1 La donna saggia edifica la sua casa; la stolta distrugge colle sue mani quella, che era già edificata.	1 A wise woman builds up her household. But a foolish one will pull down with her own hands what has been built up.
2 Chi cammina per la via retta, e teme Dio, è disprezzato da chi batte la strada dell'ignominia.	2 One who walks on a virtuous journey, and who fears God, is despised by him who advances along a disreputable way.
3 La bocca dello stolto è verga di superbia; ma le labbra dei saggi sono la loro sicurezza.	3 In the mouth of the foolish, there is a rod of arrogance. But the lips of the wise guard them.
4 Dove mancano i bovi, è vuota la mangiatoja; dove sono le grasce in gran copia, ivi si riconosce la forza de' bovi.	4 Where there are no oxen, the feeding trough is empty. But where there are many crops, there the strength of the ox is manifest.
5 Il testimone fedele non dirà menzogna, ma il falso testimone vomiterà menzogne.	5 A faithful witness will not lie. But a deceitful witness offers a lie.
6 Il derisore cerca la sapienza, e non la trova: i prudenti si istruiscono agevolmente.	6 A mocker seeks wisdom and does not find it. The doctrine of the prudent is accessible.
7 Cammina al contrario dello stolto: egli non conosce i dettami della prudenza.	7 Go against a foolish man, and he does not acknowledge lips of prudence.
8 La saggezza dell'uom prudente sta in conoscere la sua strada: l'imprudenza degli stolti li mena fuori di strada.	8 The wisdom of a discerning man is to understand his way. And the imprudence of the foolish is to be wandering astray.
9 Lo stolto si burlerà del peccato: ma la grazia avrà sua stanza trai giusti.	9 The foolish will speak mockingly of sin. But grace lingers among the just.
10 Il cuore (di ciascheduno) conosce l'afflizione dell'anima sua; e il gaudio di lui noi penetrerà un estraneo.	10 The heart that knows the bitterness of its own soul, in its gladness the outsider shall not meddle.
11 La casa degli empj sarà spiantata: ma i padiglioni de'giusti saranno floridi.	11 The house of the impious will be wiped away. Yet truly, the tabernacles of the just shall spring forth.
12 Havvi una strada, che all'uomo sembra diritta; ma la sua fine mena a morte.	12 There is a way which seems just to a man, but its conclusion leads to death.
13 Il riso sarà mescolato col dolore: e il pianto succederà all'allegrezza.	13 Laughter shall be mingled with sorrow, and mourning occupies the limits of joy.
14 Lo stolto si pascerà del suo modo di vivere: ma l'uomo dabbene sta meglio di lui.	14 The foolish will be filled up by his own ways. And the good man shall be above him.
15 L'uom senza sperienza credè ad ogni parola: ma l'uomo cauto bada, dove mettere i piedi. Il figliuolo, che non ha sincerità, non avrà bene: riusciranno felicemente le cose sue al servo prudente, e le sue vie saranno felici.	15 The innocent trust every word. The astute one considers his own steps. Nothing good will be for the deceitful son. But the wise servant shall act prosperously and his way will be set in order.
16 Il saggio teme, e schiva il male: lo stolto va avanti, e non ha paura.	16 The wise fear, and so turn away from evil. The foolish leap ahead with confidence.
17 L'uomo impaziente agirà da stolto: l'uomo tìnto diventa odioso.	17 The impatient will work foolishness. And a resourceful man is hated.
18 Gli imprudenti avranno per loro retaggio la stoltezza, e i prudenti saran coronati di scienza.	18 The childish will possess foolishness, and the discerning will anticipate knowledge.
19 Giaceranno i cattivi ai piedi de' buoni: e gli empj dinanzi alle porte de' giusti.	19 The evil will fall down before the good. And the impious will fall down before the gates of the just.
20 Il povero è avuto a noia anche da' suoi prossimi: i ricchi hanno molti amici.	20 The pauper will be hated, even by his own neighbor. Yet truly, the friends of the wealthy are many.
21 Pecca chi disprezza il suo prossimo: e chi ha misericordia del povero, sarà beato. Chi crede nel Signore ama la misericordia.	21 Whoever despises his neighbor, sins. But whoever pities the poor shall be blessed. Whoever trusts in the Lord loves mercy.
22 Sono in errore quelli, che fanno il male: la misericordia, e la verità pre parano i beni.	22 They wander astray who work evil. But mercy and truth prepare good things.
23 Dovunque si lavora, ivi sarà l'abbondanza: dove molto si parla, vi sarà l'indigenza.	23 In every work, there shall be abundance. But where there are many words, there is often need.
24 Corona de'saggj son le loro ric chezze: la stoltezza resta agli stolti.	24 The crown of the wise is their wealth. The senselessness of the foolish is imprudence.
25 Il testimone fedele è liberatore degli uomini; il furbo spaccia menzogne.	25 A faithful witness frees souls. And the chameleon utters lies.
26 Nel timor del Signore trovasi fiducia costante; e i figliuoli di lui conser veranno speranza.	26 In the fear of the Lord is the faithfulness of strength, and there shall be hope for his sons.
27 Il timor del Signore sorgente di vita: ei fa, che si schivino le rovine mortali.	27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, so as to turn aside from the ruin of death.
28 La dignità del re sta nella moltitudine del popolo: ed è disonore del principe la scarsezza dei sudditi.	28 In a multitude of people, there is dignity for the king. And in a paucity of people, there is disgrace for the prince.
29 Chi è paziente si governa con molta prudenza: ma l'impaziente fa manifesta la sua stoltezza.	29 Whoever is patient is governed by much prudence. But whoever is impatient exalts his foolishness.
30 La sanità del cuore da vita alla carne: l'invidia è tarlo delle ossa.	30 The well-being of the heart is life for the flesh. But envy is decay for the bones.
31 Chi opprime il mendico, fa contumelia al suo Creatore: ma a lui rende onore, chi ha compassione del povero.	31 Whoever slanders the indigent argues against his Maker. But he who has compassion on the poor honors his Maker.
32 La sua malizia darà all'empio la spinta: ma il giusto nella sua morte ha speranza;	32 The impious will be expelled in his malice. But the just finds hope even in his own death.
33 Nel cuore dell'uom prudente abita la sapienza, ed egli illuminerà qualunque ignorante.	33 In the heart of the prudent, wisdom finds rest. And so shall he instruct all the uneducated.
34 La giustizia fa grande una nazione: ma il peccato fa infelici i popoli.	34 Justice elevates a nation. But sin makes the peoples miserable.
35 Il ministro intelligente è grato al re: quello, che non è buono a nulla, proverà il suo sdegno.	35 An intelligent minister is acceptable to the king. Whoever is useless shall bear his wrath.
