1 Libro della generazione di Gesù Cristo, figlio di David, figlio di Abramo.	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abramo generò Isacco, Isacco generò Giacobbe, Giacobbe generò Giuda e i fratelli di lui.	2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 Giuda ebbe Fares e Zara da Tamar; Fares generò Esron, Esron generò Aram.	3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 Aram generò Aminadab, Aminadab generò Naasson, Naasson generò Salmon.	4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 Salmon ebbe Booz da Raab; Booz ebbe Obed da Rut, e Obed generò Iesse, e Iesse generò David, il re.	5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 E il re David ebbe Salomone da quella che era stata di Uria.	6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Salomone generò Rbboamo, Roboamo generò Abia, Abia generò Asa.	7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 Asa generò Giosafat, Giosafat generò Ioram, Ioram generò Ozia.	8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 Ozia generò Ioatam, Ioatam generò Achaz, Achaz generò Ezechia.	9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 Ezechia generò Manasse, Manasse generò Amon, Amon generò Giosia.	10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 Giosia generò Geconia e i di lui fratelli, al tempo dell'esilio di Babilonia.	11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 E dopo l'esilio di Babilonia, Geconia generò Salatici, Salatici generò Zorobabel.	12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 Zorobabel generò Abiud, Abiud generò Eliacim, Eliacim generò Azor.	13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor generò Sadoc, Sadoc generò Achim, Achim generò Eliud.	14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Eliud generò Eleazar, Eleazar generò Matan, Matan generò Giacobbe.	15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 Giacobbe generò Giuseppe, lo sposo di Maria dalla quale è nato Gesù detto il Cristo.	16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Cosi le generazioni da Abramo a David sono in tutto quattordici; da David all'esilio di Babilonia, quattordici; e dall'esilio di Babilonia fino a Cristo quattordici.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Or la nascita di Cristo avvenne così: essendo Maria, la madre di lui, sposata a Giuseppe, avanti che convivessero si trovò incinta per opera dello Spirito Santo.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Giuseppe suo sposo, essendo giusto e non volendo esporla all'infamia, pensò di rimandarla. occultamente.	19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Mentre egli stava sopra pensiero per queste cose, ecco un angelo del Signore gli apparve in sogno dicendo: Giuseppe, figlio di David, non temere prendere teco Maria, la tua consorte, perchè ciò che è nato in lei è dallo Spirito Santo.	20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Partorirà un figlio cui porrai nome Gesù, poiché sarà lui che salverà il popolo suo dai peccati.	21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 E tutto questo avvenne affinchè s'adempisse ciò che fu detto dal Signore per il profeta;	22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Ecco la Vergine concepirà e partorirà un figlio, e per nome lo chiameranno Emanuele, cioè Dio con noi.	23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 E Giuseppe, destatosi, fece come gli aveva ordinato l'angelo del Signore, e prese con sè la sua consorte.	24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 E non la conobbe sino a quando partorì il figlio suo primogenito, e lo chiamò Gesù.	25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
