BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Beato l'uomo che non è caduto in colpe colle parole della sua bocca e non è straziato dal rimorso del delitto.	1 Blessed is the man that hath not slipped by a word out of his mouth, and is not pricked with the remorse of sin.
2 Felice colui che non ha provata la tristezza dell'anima e non ha perduta la sua speranza.	2 Happy is he that hath had no sadness of his mind, and who is not fallen from his hope.
3 Per l'uomo cupido e attaccato sono senza scopo le ricchezze. L'avaro che se ne fa dell'oro?	3 Riches are not comely for a covetous man and a niggard, and what should an envious man do with gold?
4 Chi con sacrifizio ingiustamente accumula, accumula per altri: un altro si darà ai piaceri coi suoi beni.	4 He that gathereth together by wronging his own soul, gathereth for others, and another will squander away his goods in rioting.
5 Uno che è cattivo con se stesso con chi sarà buono? Egli non ritrae alcuna soddisfazione dai suoi beni.	5 He that is evil to himself, to whom will he be good? and he shall not take pleasure in his goods.
6 Nulla v'ha di più iniquo di colui che invidia se stesso, e questa è la mercede della sua malvagità;	6 There is none worse than he that envieth himself, and this is the reward of his wickedness:
7 e se egli fa del bene, lo fa senza saperlo e senza volerlo, e alla fine manifesta la sua malizia.	7 And if he do good, he doth it ignorantly, and unwillingly: and at the last he discovereth his wickedness.
8 Cattivo è l'occhio dell'invidioso: egli volta altrove la faccia e disprezza l'anima propria.	8 The eye of the envious is wicked: and he turneth away his face, and despiseth his own soul.
9 L'occhio dell'ingordo non è saziato da una porzione ingiusta, non si sazierà fino a tanto che non avrà strutta e consumata la sua vita.	9 The eye of the covetous man is insatiable in his portion of iniquity: he will not be satisfied till he consume his own soul, drying it up.
10 L'occhio maligno tende al male, non si caverà la fame col pane e resterà affamato e triste sopra la sua mensa.	10 An evil eye is towards evil things: and he shall not have his fill of bread, but shall be needy and pensive at his own table.
11 Figlio, di quello che hai, fatti del bene, e fanne degne offerte a Dio.	11 My son, if thou have any thing, do good to thyself, and offer to God worthy offerings.
12 Ricordati che la morte non tarda, e che la legge del sepolcro ti è dimostrata, e che la legge di questo mondo è di morire inesorabilmente.	12 Remember that death is not slow, and that the covenant of hell hath been shewn to thee: for the covenant of this world shall surely die.
13 Il bene all'amico fallo avanti di morire, e secondo le tue forze stendi la mano al povero.	13 Do good to thy friend before thou die, and according to thy ability, stretching out thy hand give to the poor.
14 Non ti privare d'una buona giornata e dell'ottimo dono non perdere parte alcuna.	14 Defraud not thyself of the good day, and let not the part of a good gift overpass thee.
15 Non dovrai lasciare ad altri i tuoi sudori? E le tue fatiche non saran divise a sorte?	15 Shalt thou not leave to others to divide by lot thy sorrows and labours?
16 Dà e ricevi e rendi santa l'anima tua;	16 Give and take, and justify thy soul.
17 pratica la giustizia prima della morte, perchè non si trova nutrimento sotto terra.	17 Before thy death work justice: for in hell there is no finding food.
18 Ogni carne appassirà come erba, come foglie spuntate su verde pianta:	18 All flesh shall fade as grass, and as the leaf that springeth out on a green tree.
19 altre nascono, altre cadono a terra; così le generazioni della carne e del sangue: una finisce e l'altra nasce.	19 Some grow, and some fall off: so is the generation of flesh and blood, one cometh to an end, and another is born.
20 Tutte le opere corruttibili in fine spariranno, e con loro andrà chi l'ha fatte.	20 Every work that is corruptible shall fail in the end: and the worker thereof shall go with it.
21 E tutte le opere elette saranno approvate e chi l'ha fatte sarà in esse onorato.	21 And every excellent work shall be justified: and the worker thereof shall be honoured therein.
22 Felice l'uomo che è costante nella sapienza, e medita la sua giustizia, e pensa nel suo spirito allo sguardo scrutatore di Dio;	22 Blessed is the man that shall continue in wisdom, and that shall meditate in his justice, and in his mind shall think of the all seeing eye of God.
23 che va studiando nel suo cuore le vie di lei, e ne penetra gli arcani, e va dietro a lei per seguirne le tracce, e si ferma nelle sue vie;	23 He that considereth her ways in his heart, and hath understanding in her secrets, who goeth after her as one that traceth, and stayeth in her ways:
24 che riguarda per le finestre eli lei e sta ad ascoltare alla sua porta;	24 He who looketh in at her windows, and hearkeneth at her door:
25 che prende domicilio accanto alla casa di lei, e, ficcato nei muri di lei il piòlo, alza accanto a lei la sua piccola tenda: nella sua piccola tenda vi dimorerà la felicità in eterno.	25 He that lodgeth near her house, and fastening a pin in her walls shall set up his tent nigh unto her, where good things shall rest in his lodging for ever.
26 Egli metterà i suoi figli sotto la protezione di lei, e riposerà sotto i suoi rami.	26 He shall set his children under her shelter, and shall lodge under her branches:
27 E all'ombra di lei sarà difeso dal caldo: e riposerà nella sua Gloria.	27 He shall be protected under her covering from the heat, and shall rest in her glory.
