| 5 Non fermare lo sguardo su una vergine per non essere castigato per causa sua. | 5 Entertain no thoughts against a virgin, lest you be enmeshed in damages for her. |
| 6 Non darti alla prostituta; perchè non dissipi la tua eredità. | 6 Give not yourself to harlots, lest you surrender your inheritance. |

| 8 Allontana lo sguardo dalla donna di belle forme nè porre interesse a bellezza non tua: per la donna avvenente molti sono degenerati, e, di qui, la passione brucia come il fuoco. | 8 Avert your eyes from a comely woman; gaze not upon the beauty of another's wife-- Through woman's beauty many perish, for lust for it burns like fire. |
| 9 Con donna d’altri non sedere; non mangiare con essa nè bere vino: perchè tu non pieghi a lei il tuo cuore e nel sangue tu non scenda nella fossa. | 9 With a married woman dine not, recline not at table to drink by her side, Lest your heart be drawn to her and you go down in blood to the grave. |
| 10 Non mettere da parte l’amico vecchio, perchè il nuovo non lo equivale; l’amico nuovo è come il vino nuovo: lo berrai quando sarà invecchiato. | 10 Discard not an old friend, for the new one cannot equal him. A new friend is like new wine which you drink with pleasure only when it has aged. |
| 11 Non emulare l’uomo empio, perchè non sai quale sarà la sua fine. | 11 Envy not a sinner's fame, for you know not what disaster awaits him. |

| 15 Esponi all’uomo intelligente i tuoi pensieri e oggetto della tua conversazione sia la legge dell’Altissimo. | 15 With the learned be intimate; let all your conversation be about the law of the LORD. |
| 16 Tuoi commensali siano uomini retti e la tua gloria sia nel timore di Dio. | 16 Have just men for your table companions; in the fear of God be your glory. |
| 17 La sapienza del giudice regge la città e il principe del popolo è di parola sapiente. | 17 Skilled artisans are esteemed for their deftness; but the ruler of his people is the skilled sage. |
