Proverbi 9

BIBBIA MARTINI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 La sapienza si è fabbricata una casa, ella ha lavorate sette colonne.	1 Wisdom has built a house for herself. She has hewn seven columns.
2 Ha immolate le sue vittime: ella ha annacquato il suo vino, e imbandita la sua mensa.	2 She has immolated her victims. She has mixed her wine and set forth her table.
3 Ha mandate le sue ancelle ad invitare la gente alla cittadella, e alla città di buone mura,	3 She has sent her maids to call out to the tower and to the fortified walls of the city,
4 Chiunque è fanciullo venga a me: e a quelli, che mancano di giudicio ella dice:	4 “If anyone is little, let him come to me.” And to the unwise, she has said:
5 Venite, mangiate il mio pane, e bevete il vino, che io ho annacquato per voi.	5 “Approach. Eat my bread, and drink the wine that I have mixed for you.
6 Abbandonate la fanciullaggine, e viverete; e battete le vie della prudenza.	6 Leave behind childishness. And live and walk by the ways of prudence.”
7 Chi istruisce un derisore fa torto a se stesso: e chi fa la correzione all'empio se stesso contamina.	7 Whoever teaches a mocker causes injury to himself. And whoever argues with the impious produces a blemish on himself.
8 Non riprendere il derisore, affinchè egli non prenda odio contro di te: correggi il saggio, ed egli ti amerà.	8 Do not be willing to argue with a mocker, lest he hate you. Dispute with the wise, and he will love you.
9 Porgi l'occasione all'uom saggio, ed ei crescerà in saggezza; istruisci l'uom giusto, ed egli sarà sollecito di imparare.	9 Present an opportunity to the wise, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach the just, and he will hurry to receive it.
10 Principio della sapienza egli o il timor del Signore, e la scienza de' santi ell' è la prudenza.	10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of holiness is prudence.
11 Perocché per me saranno moltiplicati i tuoi giorni, e cresceranno di numero gli anni della tua vita.	11 For by me, your days will be multiplied and years of life will be added to you.
12 Se tu sarai saggio, lo sarai in tuo prò: ma se tu se' un derisore, ne porterai il danno tu solo.	12 If you would be wise, you will be so for yourself. But if you would be one who ridicules, you alone shall carry the evil.
13 Una donna senza cervello, e loquace, e piena di vezzi, e che non sa nulla nulla,	13 A foolish and loud woman, who is full of enticements and who knows nothing at all,
14 Si sta sedendo in una sedia sulla porta di sua casa in luogo eminente della città,	14 sat at the entrance of her house on a seat, in a high place of the city,
15 Per chiamare a se que', che passano per la strada, facendo loro viaggio:	15 so as to call to those who were passing by the way and continuing on their journey:
16 Chi è fanciullo si volga a me: e a colui, che di giudicio è scemo, ella dice:	16 “Whoever is little, let him turn aside to me.” And to the frenzied, she said,
17 Le acque furtive sono più dolci, e il pane, che tiensi ascoso, è più gradito.	17 “Stolen waters are more soothing, and secret bread is more pleasant.”
18 Ma colui non sa, che ivi stampo i giganti, e che i convitati di colei vanno nel profondo dell'inferno.	18 And he did not know that giants are there, and that her companions are in the depths of Hell.
