BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Le vane speranze e le menzogne son per lo stolto, e i sogni fanno andar per aria gli sciocchi.	1 The hopes of a man that is void of understanding are vain and deceitful: and dreams lift up fools.
2 Come abbracciar ombre e correr dietro al vento è il dar retta a false visioni.	2 The man that giveth heed to lying visions, is like to him that catcheth at a shadow, and followeth after the wind.
3 Questo di faccia a questo, ecco la visione del sogno: l'imagine dell'uomo davanti al­l'uomo.	3 The vision of dreams is the resemblance of one thing to another: as when a man's likeness is before the face of a man.
4 Dall'impuro chi sarà purificato? E dalla menzogna come può essere detta la verità?	4 What can be made clean by the unclean? and what truth can come from that which is false?
5 Le divinazioni dell'errore, gli auguri bugiardi, i sogni dei malvagi sono vanità.	5 Deceitful divinations and lying omens and the dreams of evildoers, are vanity:
6 Come quello di una partoriente il tuo spirito soffre di fantasmi, ma se la visione non è mandata dall'Altissimo, non te ne curare;	6 And the heart fancieth as that of a woman in travail: except it be a vision sent forth from the most High, set no thy heart upon them.
7 perchè molti furon trascinati nell'errore dai sogni, e si perdettero per aver posta in essi la loro fiducia.	7 For dreams have deceived many, and they have failed that put their trust in them.
8 Senza menzogne si compirà la parola della legge, e la sapienza diventerà chiara nella bocca del fedele.	8 The word of the law shall be fulfilled without a lie, and wisdom shall be made plain in the mouth of the faithful.
9 Colui che non è stato tentato che può sapere? L'uomo sperimentato in molte cose saprà molto, e chi ha imparato molte cose parlerà con prudenza.	9 What doth he know, that hath not been tried? A man that hath much experience, shall think of many things: and he that hath learned many things, shall shew forth understanding.
10 Chi non ha provato conosce poche cose, ma chi s'è trovato in molte cose è ricco d'accorgimento.	10 He that hath no experience, knoweth little: and he that hath been experienced in many things, multiplieth prudence.
11 Chi non è stato tentato che sa mai? Chi è stato ingannato acquisterà scaltrezza.	11 He that hath not been tried, what manner of things doth he know? he that hath been surprised, shall abound with subtlety.
12 Ho vedute molte cose nel viaggiare, molto più di quello ch'io possa dire.	12 I have seen many things by travelling, and many customs of things.
13 Per tal cagione qualche volta mi son trovato in pericolo di morte, ma fui liberato per grazia di Dio.	13 Sometimes I have been in danger of death for these things, and I have been delivered by the grace of God.
14 Lo spirito di quelli che temono Dio è ricercato, e, perchè lui lo guarda, sarà benedetto.	14 The spirit of those that fear God; is sought after, and by his regard shall be blessed.
15 Infatti la loro speranza è riposta in colui che li salva, e gli occhi di Dio stan fissi sopra coloro che lo amano.	15 For their hope is on him that saveth them, and the eyes of God are upon them that love him.
16 Chi teme il Signore non starà in trepidazione, non avrà paura, perchè è lui la sua speranza.	16 He that feareth the Lord shall tremble at nothing, and shall not be afraid for he is his hope.
17 L'anima di chi teme il Signore è beata.	17 The soul of him that feareth the Lord is blessed.
18 A chi volge lo sguardo? E chi è la sua forza?	18 To whom doth he look, and who in his strength?
19 Gli occhi del Signore son fissi sopra coloro che Io temono, Egli è il protettore potente, il forte sostegno, riparo dal caldo, ombra nel meriggio,	19 The eyes of the Lord are upon them that fear him, he is their powerful protector, and strong stay, a defence from the heat, and a cover from the sun at noon,
20 aiuto per non inciampare, soccorso nelle cadute, Egli esalta l'anima, illumina gli occhi, dà la sanità, la vita, la benedizione.	20 A preservation from stumbling, and a help from falling; he raiseth up the soul, and enlighteneth the eyes, and giveth health, and life, and blessing.
21 Immonda è l'offerta di chi sacrifica roba di mal acquisto, non son graditi gli scherni degli empi.	21 The offering of him that sacrificeth of a thing wrongfully gotten, is stained, and the mockeries of the unjust are not acceptable.
22 Il Signore è soltanto per quelli che lo aspettano nella, via della verità e della giustizia.	22 The Lord is only for them that wait upon him in the way of truth and justice.
23 L'Altissimo non accetta i doni degli iniqui, non volge l'occhio alle loro oblazioni, nè sarà propizio ai loro peccati pel gran numero dei loro sacrifizi.	23 The most High approveth not the gifts of the wicked: neither hath he respect to the oblations of the unjust, nor will he be pacified for sine by the multitude of their sacrifices.
24 Chi offre sacrifizio colla roba dei poveri è come chi sgozza un figliuolo sotto gli occhi del padre.	24 He that offereth sacrifice of the goods of the poor, is as one that sacrificeth the son in the presence of his father.
25 Il pane dei bisognosi è la vita dei poveri, chi loro lo toglie è un assassino.	25 The bread of the needy, is the life of the poor: he that defraudeth them thereof, is a man of blood.
26 Chi toglie il pane del sudore è come se uccidesse il prossimo.	26 He that taketh away the bread gotten by sweat, is like him that killeth his neighbour.
27 Chi sparge il sangue e chi de frauda la mercede all'operaio son fratelli.	27 He that sheddeth blood, and he that defraudeth the labourer of his hire, are brothers.
28 Se uno edifica ed uno distrugge, che guadagnano, se non di faticare?	28 When one buildeth up, and another pulleth down: what profit have they but the labour?
29 Se uno prega e l'altro manda imprecazioni, Dio chi dovrà ascoltare?	29 When one prayeth, and another curseth: whose voice will God hear?
30 Se uno si lava a causa d'un morto, e poi lo tocca di nuovo, che gli giova l'essersi lavato?	30 He that washeth himself after touching the dead, if he toucheth him again, what doth his washing avail?
31 Cosi l'uomo che digiuna pei suoi peccati e li commette di nuovo, che gli giova l'umiliarsi? Chi ascolterà la sua preghiera?	31 So a man that fasteth for his sins, and doth the same again, what doth his humbling himself profit him? who will hear his prayer?
