Siracide 2

BIBBIA TINTORI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figlio mio, se entri al servi zio di Dio sii costante nella giustizia e nel timore, e prepara l'anima tua alla tentazione.	1 Son, when you apply yourself to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare your soul for temptation.
2 Umilia il tuo cuore e sopporta, porgi l'orecchio e accetta i saggi consigli, e non precipitare nel tempo del buio.	2 Humble your heart, and persevere. Incline your ear, and accept words of understanding. And you should not hurry away in the time of distress.
3 Sopporta le dilazioni di Dio, stai unito a Dio e aspetta con pazienza, e da ultimo sarà prospera la tua vita.	3 Endure steadfastly for God. Join yourself to God, and persevere, so that your life may increase in the very end.
4 Accetta tutto quello che ti manda, e nel dolore sopporta, e nell'umiliazione abbi pazienza.	4 Accept everything that will happened to you, and persevere in your sorrow, and have patience in your humiliation.
5 Perchè col fuoco son purificati l'oro e l'argento; ma gli uomini accetti a Dio, nel crogiolo delle umiliazioni.	5 For gold and silver are tested in fire, yet truly, acceptable men are tested in the furnace of humiliation.
6 Abbi fede in Dio, ed Egli ti assisterà. Tieni retta condotta e spera in lui, conserva il suo timore ed in esso invecchia.	6 Believe God, and he will restore you to health. And straighten your way, and hope in him. Observe his fear, and grow old in it.
7 Voi che temete il Signore, aspettate con pazienza la sua misericordia e non v'allontanate da lui, per non cadere.	7 You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy. And do not turn away from him, lest you fall.
8 Voi che temete il Signore abbiate fede in lui e non perderete la vostra mercede.	8 You who fear the Lord, believe in him. And your reward will not be taken away.
9 Voi che temete il Signore, sperate in lui e a vostra consolazione verrà la misericordia.	9 You who fear the Lord, hope in him. And mercy will approach you, to your delight.
10 Voi che temete il Signore, amatelo, e saranno illuminati i vostri cuori.	10 You who fear the Lord, love him. And your hearts will be illuminated.
11 Guardate, o figlioli, le generazioni degli uomini, e sappiate che nessuno il quale sperò nel Signore è restato confuso.	11 My sons, consider the nations of men, and know that not one of them hoped in the Lord and was confounded.
12 Chi perseverò nei suoi comandamenti e fu abbandonato? Chi l'invocò e fu disprezzato?	12 For who has remained in his commandment and been abandoned? Or who has called upon him, and yet he despised him?
13 Dio ha compassione ed è misericordioso, nel giorno della tribolazione perdona i peccati, ed è protettore di tutti quelli che lo cercano con sincerità.	13 For God is upright and merciful, and he will forgive sins in the day of tribulation. And he is the Protector to all those who seek him in truth.
14 Guai al cuor doppio, alle labbra scellerate, alle mani che fanno il male, al peccatore che cammina per due vie sulla terra.	14 Woe to the duplicitous heart, and to the wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner who walks the earth by two ways!
15 Guai agli scoraggiati che non han fiducia in Dio, e per questo non saran da lui protetti.	15 Woe to the dissolute in heart, who do not trust God! For, as a result, they will not be protected by him.
16 Guai a quelli che perdon la pazienza e abbandonano le vie rette, per andare in quelle storte.	16 Woe to those who have lost endurance, and who have abandoned upright ways, and who have turned aside to depraved ways!
17 Che faranno essi quando Dio comincerà a rivedere i conti?	17 And what will they do when the Lord begins to examine them?
18 Coloro che temono il Signore presteran fede alla sua parola, e coloro che lo amano seguiranno le sue vie.	18 Those who fear the Lord will not be unbelieving toward his Word. And those who love him will keep to his way.
19 Coloro che temono il Signore cercano le cose che piacciono a lui, e quelli che lo amano son ripieni della sua legge.	19 Those who fear the Lord will seek the things that are well-pleasing to him. And those who love him will be filled with his law.
20 Coloro che temono il Signore prepareranno i loro cuori, e alla sua presenza santificheranno le loro anime.	20 Those who fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and they will sanctify their souls in his sight.
21 Coloro che temono il Signore ne osservano i comandamenti, ed avran pazienza finché Egli non volgerà lo sguardo.	21 Those who fear the Lord keep his commandments, and they will have patience even until his examination,
22 E diranno: « Se non faremo penitenza cadremo nelle mani del Signore e non nelle mani degli uomini;	22 saying: “If we do not do penance, then we will fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men.”
23 ma quanto Egli è grande altrettanto è misericordioso ».	23 For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him.
