Proverbi 6

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Figlio mio, se ti sei reso garante per un tuo amico ed hai data la tua mano ad un altro,	1 My son, if you have become surety to your neighbor, given your hand in pledge to another,
2 ti sei legato colle parole della tua bocca, ti sei impigliato nei tuoi discorsi.	2 You have been snared by the utterance of your lips, caught by the words of your mouth;
3 Fa dunque, figlio mio, quello che ti dico per disimpegnarti, perchè sei caduto nelle mani del tuo prossimo: corri senza indugio a svegliare il tuo amico,	3 So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor's power: Go, hurry, stir up your neighbor!
4 non dar sonno ai tuoi occhi nò riposo alle tue pupille,	4 Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids;
5 Scappa come gazzella dalla mano, come uccello dalla mano dell'uccellatore. La formica è mi rimprovero pel pigro.	5 Free yourself as a gazelle from the snare, or as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Vai, o pigro, dalla formica, mira i suoi modi di fare, e impara ad essere saggio.	6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, study her ways and learn wisdom;
7 Essa, benché non abbia nè capitano nè sorvegliante nè principe,	7 For though she has no chief, no commander or ruler,
8 prepara nell'estate il suo sostentamento o al tempo della messe raccoglie il suo cibo.	8 She procures her food in the summer, stores up her provisions in the harvest.
9 Fino a quando, o pigro, dormirai? Quando ti desterai dal tuo sonno?	9 How long, O sluggard, will you rest? when will you rise from your sleep?
10 Un po' dormirai, un po' sonnecchierai, un po' starai colle mani in mano per riposarti;	10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest--
11 ma t'arriverà come un corriere la miseria e la povertà come un uomo armato. Ma se sarai diligente, verrà come una sorgente la tua messe e fuggirà lungi da te la miseria.	11 Then will poverty come upon you like a highway man, and want like an armed man.
12 L'uomo apostata, uomo da nulla, procede colla perversità sulle labbra,	12 A scoundrel, a villain, is he who deals in crooked talk.
13 ammicca cogli occhi, stropiccia i piedi, parla colle dita.	13 He winks his eyes, shuffles his feet, makes signs with his fingers;
14 Nel suo cuore perverso prepara del male e in ogni tempo semina discordie.	14 He has perversity in his heart, is always plotting evil, sows discord.
15 Sopra di lui verrà ad un tratto la rovina, in un attimo sarà annientato senza alcun rimedio.	15 Therefore suddenly ruin comes upon him; in an instant he is crushed beyond cure.
16 Sei cose odia il Signore, e la settima l'ha in esecrazione:	16 There are six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him;
17 gli occhi superbi, la lingua bugiarda, le mani che spargono sangue innocente,	17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 il cuore che medita iniqui disegni, i piedi che corrono frettolosi al male,	18 A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil,
19 il falso testimonio che proferisce menzogne, e colui che semina discordie tra i fratelli.	19 The false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
20 Figlio mio, osserva i precetti di tuo padre, e non trascurare le regole di tua madre.	20 Observe, my son, your father's bidding, and reject not your mother's teaching;
21 Tienli continuamente legati sul tuo cuore e attaccali al tuo collo.	21 Keep them fastened over your heart always, put them around your neck;
22 Ti accompagnino nel viaggio, ti custodiscano nel sonno, e quando ti svegli parla con loro.
23 Perchè il precetto è una lampada, la legge è una luce, e la correzione della disciplina è via alla vita.	23 For the bidding is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and a way to life are the reproofs of discipline;
24 Esse serviranno a guardarti dalla donna malvagia e dall'adulatrice lingua della straniera.	24 To keep you from your neighbor's wife, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
25 Non desiderare in cuor tuo la sua bellezza, non ti lasciar prendere dai suoi sguardi;	25 Lust not in your heart after her beauty, let her not captivate you with her glance!
26 che il prezzo d'una prostituta è appena un pane, ma la maritata fa la caccia ad una vita preziosa.	26 For the price of a loose woman may be scarcely a loaf of bread, But if she is married, she is a trap for your precious life.
27 Può forse l'uomo nascondere del fuoco nel suo seno, senza bruciarsi le vesti?	27 Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his garments not burned?
28 Ovvero camminare sopra carboni accesi, senza scottarsi i piedi?	28 Or can a man walk on live coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Così chi va dalla moglie d'un altro, non sarà senza colpa, se l'avrà toccata.	29 So with him who goes in to his neighbor's wife-- none who touches her shall go unpunished.
30 Non è gran peccato, se uno ruba, ruba infatti per empir l'affamato suo ventre;	30 Men despise not the thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry;
31 ma se è scoperto deve rendere fino al settuplo e dare tutti i beni della sua casa.	31 Yet if he be caught he must pay back sevenfold; all the wealth of his house he may yield up.
32 Or l'adultero, per mancanza di cuore, manderà in rovina se stesso:	32 But he who commits adultery is a fool; he who would destroy himself does it.
33 accumula sopra se stesso vergogna e ignominia, e la sua infamia non sarà mai cancellata;	33 A degrading beating will he get, and his disgrace will not be wiped away;
34 perchè la gelosia e il furore del marito non perdoneranno nel giorno della vendetta.	34 For vindictive is the husband's wrath, he will have no pity on the day of vengeance;
35 Nè si placherà alle altrui preghiere, di chiunque siano, e non accetterà in compenso doni, anche numerosissimi.	35 He will not consider any restitution, nor be satisfied with the greatest gifts.
