BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Una derivazione d'acqua è il cuore del re in mano a Dio, a tutto ciò che vuole Egli lo piega.	1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.
2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sono rette ai suoi occhi, ma chi pesa i cuori è Dio.	2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.
3 Praticar la carità e la giustizia, è più gradito a Dio che le vittime.	3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Alterigia d'occhi è gonfiezza di cuore; la lucerna degli empi è il peccato.	4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.
5 I disegni del sollecito prosperano sicuramente; ogni pigro invece è sempre nella miseria.	5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.
6 Chi ammassa tesori con lingua bugiarda, è fatuo e malaccorto e s'impiglierà in lacci di morte.	6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.
7 Le rapine dei tristi li travolgeranno, perchè non vollero operare con giustizia.	7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.
8 La via perversa dell'uomo è stravagante e chi è schietto ha un fare dritto.	8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.
9 Meglio starsene in un angolo della terrazza che con donna attaccabrighe e far camera comune.	9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.
10 L'animo, dell'empio vuol male, non sentirà compassione pel prossimo.	10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.
11 Quando l'insolente pagherà il fio, l'ingenuo diventerà più savio; e se frequenterà il sapiente, apprenderà scienza.	11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.
12 Il giusto si prende pensiero della casa dell'empio per stornare i cattivi dal male.	12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.
13 Chi chiude l'orecchio al grido del misero, se anch'egli griderà non sarà udito.	13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.
14 Un dono di sottomano acquieta lo sdegno; e un regalo intascato, l'ira più violenta.	14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.
15 È una gioia pel giusto fare giustizia e pei malfattori, una costernazione.	15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.
16 L'uomo che travia dal cammino della dottrina, nell'assemblea dei giganti avrà dimora.	16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.
17 Chi ama le gozzoviglie andrà in miseria; chi ama il vino e i grassi bocconi, non arricchirà.	17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.
18 Pel giusto, l'empio espierà, e in luogo dei buoni, l'iniquo.	18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.
19 Meglio vivere in terra deserta, che con donna accattabrighe e collerica.	19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.
20 Nella dimora del giusto c'è un tesoro vistoso, c'è dell'aroma; ma l'uomo stolto lo dissiperà.	20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.
21 Chi persegue rettitudine e carità, troverà vita, giustizia e gloria.	21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.
22 Il saggio salì alla città dei forti e distrusse la potenza in cui essa confidava.	22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.
23 Chi custodisce la sua bocca e la sua lingua, custodisce dalle angustie l'anima sua.	23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.
24 Superbo ed arrogante ha nome l'insipiente che sdegnosamente fa il superbo.	24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.
25 Le voglie ammazzano il pigro, perchè le sue mani rifuggirono dall'operare,	25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.
26 tutto il giorno si pasce di brame e desiderii, mentre il giusto darà senza risparmio.	26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.
27 Le vittime degli empi sono un abominio, perchè frutto d'iniquità.	27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.
28 Il testo menzognero perirà, ma l'uomo che ascolta parlerà trionfalmente.	28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.
29 L'uomo empio fa faccia tosta; e l'uomo retto emenda la sua condotta.	29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.
30 Non c'è sapienza, nè prudenza, nè consiglio contro Dio.	30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.
31 Pel dì della battaglia si prepara il cavallo; ma è il Signore che dà la salvezza.	31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.
