1 Eliu continuò a dire:	1 Elihu went on speaking. He said:
2 Abbi un po' di pazienza e io te lo dimostrerò, perché in difesa di Dio c'è altro da dire.	2 Be patient a little longer while I explain, for I have more to say on God's behalf.
3 Prenderò da lontano il mio sapere e renderò giustizia al mio creatore,	3 I shal range far afield for my arguments to prove my Maker just.

8 Se talvolta essi sono avvinti in catene, se sono stretti dai lacci dell'afflizione,	8 then he fetters them with chains, they are caught in the bonds of affliction.
9 fa loro conoscere le opere loro e i loro falli, perché superbi;	9 He shows them the import of their deeds, of the sins of pride they have committed.

11 Se ascoltano e si sottomettono, chiuderanno i loro giorni nel benessere e i loro anni nelle delizie.	11 If they take notice and obey him, the rest of their days are prosperous and the years pass pleasantly.
12 Ma se non vorranno ascoltare, di morte violenta periranno, spireranno senza neppure saperlo.	12 If not, they go down the Canal and perish in their stupidity.
13 I perversi di cuore accumulano l'ira; non invocano aiuto, quando Dio li avvince in catene:	13 The stubborn, who cherish their anger and do not cry for help when he chains them,
14 si spegne in gioventù la loro anima, e la loro vita all'età dei dissoluti.	14 die in the bloom of youth or live among the male prostitutes of the temple.

21 Bada di non volgerti all'iniquità, poiché per questo sei stato provato dalla miseria.	21 Avoid any tendency to wrong-doing, for this is why affliction is testing you now.
22 Ecco, Dio è sublime nella sua potenza; chi come lui è temibile?	22 See, God is sublime in his strength and who can teach lessons as he does?

24 Ricordati che devi esaltare la sua opera, che altri uomini hanno cantato.	24 Consider, rather, how you may praise his work, a theme that many have sung.

26 Ecco, Dio è così grande, che non lo comprendiamo: il numero dei suoi anni è incalcolabile.	26 Yes, the greatness of God exceeds our knowledge, the number of his years is past counting.

29 Chi inoltre può comprendere la distesa delle nubi, i fragori della sua dimora?	29 And who can fathom how he spreads the clouds, or why such crashes thunder from his tent?
30 Ecco, espande sopra di esso il suo vapore e copre le profondità del mare.	30 He spreads a mist before him and covers the tops of the mountains.
31 In tal modo sostenta i popoli e offre alimento in abbondanza.	31 By these means, he sustains the peoples, giving them plenty to eat.
32 Arma le mani di folgori e le scaglia contro il bersaglio.	32 He gathers up the lightning in his hands, assigning it the mark where to strike.
33 Lo annunzia il suo fragore, riserva d'ira contro l'iniquità.	33 His crashing gives warning of its coming, anger flashes out against iniquity.
