1 Queste son le tappe dei figli d'Israele che, divisi nelle loro schiere, uscirono dall'Egitto, sotto la guida di Mosè e di Aronne.	1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 Mosè le notò secondo i luoghi degli accampamenti che essi cambiavano per comando di Dio.	2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:
3 Nel primo mese, ai quindici del primo mese, il giorno dopo pasqua, i figli d'Israele partirono da Ramesse, a mano alzata, alla vista di tutti gli Egiziani,	3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.
4 che seppellivano i loro primogeniti, percossi dal Signore, il quale fe' piombare le sue vendette anche sopra i loro dèi.	4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.
5 S'accamparono in Soccot;	5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 da Soccot andarono a Etam, che è sul limitar del deserto.	6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.
7 Partiti da Etam, giunsero davanti a Fihahirot che guarda Beelsefon, e si accamparono dinanzi a Magdalo.	7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.
8 Partiti da Fihahirot, passarono per mezzo il mare, nel deserto, e dopo aver camminato tre giorni pel deserto di Eltam, posero il campo a Mara.	8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.
9 Partiti da Mara, andarono ad Elim, a dove eran dodici fontane e settanta palme, e vi si accamparono.	9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.
10 Partiti poi di là piantarono le tende lungo il Mar Rosso. Partiti dal Mar Rosso,	10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 si accamparono nel deserto di Sin.	11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 Mossisi di lì, andarono a Dafca.	12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.
13 partiti da Dafca, si accamparono in Alus.	13 They left Dophkah and encamped at Alush.
14 Partiti da Alus, si accamparono in Rafidim, dove mancò al popolo l'acqua per bere.	14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.
15 Partiti da Rafidim, si accamparono nel deserto del Sinai.	15 They left Rephidim and encamped in the desert of Sinai.
16 Partiti dal deserto del Sinai, giunsero ai Sepolcri della concupiscenza.	16 They left the desert of Sinai and encamped at Kibroth-ha-Taavah.
17 Partiti dai Sepolcri della concupiscenza, s'accamparono in Haserot.	17 They left Kibroth-ha-Taavah and encamped at Hazeroth.
18 Da Haserot andarono a Retma.	18 They left Hazeroth and encamped at Rithmah.
19 Partiti da Retma, si accamparon in Remmonfares;	19 They left Rithmah and encamped at Rimmon-Perez.
20 di dove partiti andarono a Lebna;	20 They left Rimmon-Perez and encamped at Libnah.
21 E da Lebna andarono a Ressa;	21 They left Libnah and encamped at Rissah.
22 partiti da Ressa, si accamparono in Ceelata.	22 They left Rissah and encamped at Kehelathah.
23 partiti da Ceelata, si accamparono al monte Sefer,	23 They left Kehelathah and encamped at Mount Shepher.
24 e dal monte Sefer andarono a Arada;	24 They left Mount Shepher and encamped at Haradah.
25 di dove partiti s'accamparono in Macelot.	25 They left Haradah and encamped at Makheloth.
26 Da Macelot passarono a Tahat;	26 They left Makheloth and encamped at Tahath.
27 partiti da Tahat, si aaccamparono a Tare.	27 They left Tahath and encamped at Terah.
28 partiti di là, piantarono le tende a Metca;	28 They left Terah and encamped at Mithkah.
29 da Metca andarono a Hesmona;	29 They left Mithkah and encamped at Hashmonah.
30 e partiti da Hesmoana, giunsero a Moserot.	30 They left Hashmonah and encamped at Moseroth.
31 Da Moserot andarono a Beneiaacan,	31 They left Moseroth and encamped at Bene-Jaakan.
32 di dove partiti giunsero al monte Gadgad.	32 They left Bene-Jaakan and encamped at Hor-Gidgad.
33 partiti di li si accamparono a Ietebata;	33 They left Hor-Gidgad and encamped at Jotbathah.
34 da Ietebata andarono a Ebrona;	34 They left Jotbathah and encamped at Abronah.
35 lasciata la quale, s'attendarono in Asiongaber.	35 They left Abronah and encamped at Ezion-Geber.
36 Partiti di là giunsero nel deserto di Sin, cioè a Cades.	36 They left Ezion-Geber and encamped in the desert of Zin, that is, at Kadesh.
37 E partiti da Cades, si accamparono al monte Or, all'estremità dell'ldumea.	37 They left Kadesh and encamped at Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom.
38 E Aronne sacerdote salì, per ordine del Signore, sul monte Or, ove mori nel quarantesimo anno dopb l'uscita dei figli d'Israele dall'Egitto, nel quinto mese, al primo del mese,	38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 mentre era nell'età di centoventitrè anni.	39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 Fu allora che il Cananeo, re di Arad, il quale abitava verso il mezzogiorno, seppe come i figli d'Israele venissero nella terra di Canaan.	40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.
41 Partiti poi dal monte Or, si accamparono a Salmona,	41 They left Mount Hor and encamped at Zalmonah.
42 di dove partiti andarono a Funon;	42 They left Zalmonah and encamped at Punon.
43 partiti da Funon andarono a Obot,	43 They left Punon and encamped at Oboth.
44 e da Obot andarono a Ieabarim, che è ai confini dei Moabiti.	44 They left Oboth and encamped in Moabite territory at Iye-Abarim.
45 Partiti da Ieabarim, piantaron le tonde a Dibon Gad;	45 They left Iyim and encamped at Dibon-Gad.

49 ove si accamparono da Betsimot ad Abeslatim, nelle steppe di Moab.	49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.
50 Ivi il Signore disse a Mosè:	50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:
51 « Da' quest'ordine ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Quando avrete passato il Giordano e sarete entrati nella terra, di Canaan,	51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,
52 sterminate tutti gli abitanti di quel paese, fate in pezzi i monumenti, riducete in polvere le statue, demolite tutti gli alti luoghi:	52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.
53 purificate la terra e poi abitatela, perche ve l'ho data io in possesso.	53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.
54 Ve la dividerete a sorte, dando una porzione maggiore a quelli che son più numerosi, una minore a quelli meno numerosi. Ognuno possederà ciò che gli sarà toccato in sorte. La divisione sarà fatta per tribù e per famiglie.	54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.
55 Ma se non ucciderete gli abitanti del paese, quelli che di loro resteranno diverran per voi come chiodi negli occhi e lance ai fianchi, e vi saran nemici nel paese che abiterete;	55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,
56 io poi farò a voi tutto ciò che avevo pensato di fare a loro »	56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '
