BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ricordati, o Signore, di quanto c'è accaduto: mira e considera la nostra ignominia.	1 Yahweh, remember what has happened to us; consider, and see our degradation.
2 La nostra eredità è passata a stranieri; le nostre case a sconosciuti.	2 Our heritage has passed to strangers, our homes to foreigners.
3 Siam divenuti orfani senza padre; le madri nostre son come vedove.	3 We are orphans, we are fatherless; our mothers are like widows.
4 A prezzo di danaro abbiamo bevuta la nostra acqua, col danaro abbiamo comprate le nostre legna.	4 We have to buy our own water to drink, our own wood we can get only at a price.
5 Legati pel collo eravamo portati via, e agli stanchi non era concesso riposo.	5 The yoke is on our necks; we are persecuted; exhausted we are, al owed no rest.
6 Tendemmo le mani all'Egitto e all'Assiria, per esser satollati di pane.	6 We made a pact with Egypt, with Assyria, to have plenty of food.
7 I nostri padri peccarono e non son più, e noi ne abbiamo portate le iniquità.	7 Our ancestors sinned; they are no more, and we bear the weight of their guilt.
8 I servi ci han dominati, nè ci fu chi da loro ci riscattasse.	8 Slaves rule us; there is no one to rescue us from their clutches.
9 Procuravamo il nostro pane col pericolo della vita, affrontando la spada nel deserto.	9 At peril of our lives we earn our bread, by risking the sword of the desert.
10 La nostra pelle è arsa come un forno dall'ardore della fame.	10 Our skin is as hot as an oven, from the scorch of famine.
11 Hanno umiliate le donne in Sion, e le vergini nella città di Giada.	11 The women in Zion have been raped, the young girls in the towns of Judah.
12 Per la loro mano sono stati impiccati i principi, non han portato rispetto ai vecchi.	12 Princes have been hanged by their hands; the face of the old has won no respect.
13 Hanno abusato vergognosamente dei giovanetti, e i fanciulli son venuti meno sotto il bastone.	13 Youths have been put to the mil , boys stagger under loads of wood.
14 Mancano gli anziani alla porta e i giovani nel coro dei sonatori.	14 The elders have deserted the gateway; the young have given up their music.
15 La gioia è scomparsa dal nostro cuore, le nostre musiche sono andate a finire in lutto,	15 Joy has vanished from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
16 è caduta la corona del nostro capo: guai a noi che abbiamo peccato!	16 The crown has fallen from our heads. Alas that ever we sinned!
17 Per questo è divenuto tristo il nostro cuore, per questo si sono ottenebrati i nostri occhi.	17 This is why our hearts are sick; this is why our eyes are dim:
18 Per il monte Sion, che è desolato, e vi scorrazzano le volpi.	18 because Mount Zion is desolate; jackals roam to and fro on it.
19 Ma tu, o Signore, rimarrai in eterno, il tuo trono per tutte le generazioni.	19 Yet you, Yahweh, rule from eternity; your throne endures from age to age.
20 E come? tu eterno ti dimenticherai di noi? Ci abbandonerai per tanto tempo?	20 Why do you never remember us? Why do you abandon us so long?
21 Facci tornare a te, o Signore, e torneremo, rinnovella i nostri giorni come altre volte.	21 Make us come back to you, Yahweh, and we will come back. Restore us as we were before!
22 Ma tu ci hai rigettati del tutto, ti sei sdegnato senza misura contro di noi.	22 Unless you have utterly rejected us, in an anger which knows no limit.
