1 Il saggio ricercherà la sapienza di tutti gli antichi e attenderà allo studio dei profeti.	1 How different the man who devotes himself to the study of the law of the Most High! He explores the wisdom of the men of old and occupies himself with the prophecies;
2 Raccoglierà i racconti degli uomini celebri e nel medesimo tempo penetrerà nelle sottigliezze delle parabole.	2 He treasures the discourses of famous men, and goes to the heart of involved sayings;
3 Indagherà il recondito senso dei proverbi e si occuperà degli enimmi delle parabole.	3 He studies obscure parables, and is busied with the hidden meanings of the sages.
4 Eserciterà il suo ministero in mezzo ai grandi, e comparirà dinanzi a chi governa.	4 He is in attendance on the great, and has entrance to the ruler.
5 Percorrerà paesi di nazioni straniere per far la prova del bene e del male che è tra gli uomini.	5 He travels among the peoples of foreign lands to learn what is good and evil among men.
6 Rivolgerà il suo cuore a vegliare fin dal mattino al Signore che l'ha fatto, e farà le sue preghiere davanti all'Altissimo.	6 His care is to seek the LORD, his Maker, to petition the Most High, To open his lips in prayer, to ask pardon for his sins. Then, if it pleases the LORD Almighty, he will be filled with the spirit of understanding; He will pour forth his words of wisdom and in prayer give thanks to the LORD,
7 Aprirà la sua bocca nell'orazione e chiederà (perdono) per i suoi peccati.	7 Who will direct his knowledge and his counsel, as he meditates upon his mysteries.
8 Se poi il gran Signore vorrà, lo riempirà dello spirito d'intelligenza,	8 He will show the wisdom of what he has learned and glory in the law of the LORD'S covenant.
9 ed egli spanderà come pioggia gl'insegnamenti nella sua sapienza e nella preghiera darà lode ai Signore.	9 Many will praise his understanding; his fame can never be effaced; Unfading will be his memory, through all generations his name will live;
10 Il Signore dirigerà il suo consiglio e la sua scienza, ed egli ne mediterà i segreti.	10 Peoples will speak of his wisdom, and in assembly sing his praises.
11 Egli esporrà pubblicamente la sua educatrice dottrina e metterà, la sua gloria nella legge dell'alleanza del Signore.	11 While he lives he is one out of a thousand, and when he dies his renown will not cease.
12 Molti si uniranno a lodare la sua sapienza, che non sarà dimenticata in eterno.	12 Once more I will set forth my theme to shine like the moon in its fullness!
13 Il suo ricordo non verrà meno, e il suo nome sarà ripetuto di generazione in generazione.	13 Listen, my faithful children: open up your petals, like roses planted near running waters;
14 Le nazioni parleranno della sua sapienza, e l'assemblea celebrerà le sue iodi.	14 Send up the sweet odor of incense, break forth in blossoms like the lily. Send up the sweet odor of your hymn of praise; bless the LORD for all he has done!
15 Se vivrà, avrà fama più di mille altri; se riposerà, gii sarà utile.	15 Proclaim the greatness of his name, loudly sing his praises, With music on the harp and all stringed instruments; sing out with joy as you proclaim:
16 Seguiterò ancora a esporre, perchè son pieno di (sacro) furore.	16 The works of God are all of them good; in its own time every need is supplied.
17 Con viva voce dice: Ascoltatemi, o divini germogli, e fruttificate come rose piantate lungo la corrente delle acque.	17 At his word the waters become still as in a flask; he had but to speak and the reservoirs were made.
18 Come il Libano diffondete odore soave.	18 He has but to command and his will is done; nothing can limit his achievement.
19 Buttate fiori, come gigli, effondete odori, mettete graziose fronde, cantate insieme il cantico e benedite il Signore nelle sue opere.	19 The works of all mankind are present to him; not a thing escapes his eye.
20 Magnificate il suo nome, glorificatelo colle parole della vostra bocca, coi cantici delle vostre labbra, e sulle arpe celebratelo dicendo:	20 His gaze spans all the ages; to him there is nothing unexpected.
21 Le opere del Signore son tutte molto buone.	21 No cause then to say: "What is the purpose of this?" Everything is chosen to satisfy a need.
22 Alla sua parola l'acqua si fermò come ammassata, alla parola della sua bocca, come in serbatoio d'acque.	22 His blessing overflows like the Nile; like the Euphrates it enriches the surface of the earth.
23 Al suo cenno vien la calma, ed è perfetta la salute da lui donata.	23 Again, his wrath expels the nations and turns fertile land into a salt marsh.
24 Le opere d'ogni mortale gli stanno davanti, e nulla può esser nascosto agli occhi suoi.	24 For the virtuous his paths are level, to the haughty they are steep;
25 Egli volge gli occhi da un secolo all'altro e niente è maraviglioso davanti a lui.	25 Good things for the good he provided from the beginning, but for the wicked good things and bad.
26 Non occorre dire: « Che è questo, che è quello? » perchè ogni cosa sarà ricercata a suo tempo.	26 Chief of all needs for human life are water and fire, iron and salt, The heart of the wheat, milk and honey, the blood of the grape, and oil, and cloth;
27 La sua benedizione è come fiume che inonda;	27 For the good all these are good, but for the wicked they turn out evil.
28 Come il diluvio inondò la terra, così l'ira sua s'impossesserà delle nazioni che non l'han cercato.	28 There are storm winds created to punish, which in their fury can dislodge mountains; When destruction must be, they hurl all their force and appease the anger of their Maker.
29 Come mutò le acque in siccità e fece rimanere la terra asciutta e le vie fatte da lui furon comode al loro viaggio, così per la sua collera furon funeste ai peccatori.	29 In his treasury also, kept for the proper time, are fire and hail, famine, disease,
30 Fin dal principio il bene fu creato per i buoni, così per i malvagi il bene e il male.	30 Ravenous beasts, scorpions, vipers, and the avenging sword to exterminate the wicked;
31 Le cose più necessarie alla vita dell'uomo, l'acqua, il fuoco, il ferro, il sale, il latte, il pane di fior di farina, il miele, il grappolo dell'uva, l'olio, le vesti,	31 In doing his bidding they rejoice, in their assignments they disobey not his command.
32 Tutte queste cose riescono buone per i santi, ma per gli empi, per i peccatori si convertono in male.	32 So from the first I took my stand, and wrote down as my theme:
33 Vi son degli spiriti creati per la vendetta, ed essi nel loro furore aumentano i loro tormenti,	33 The works of God are all of them good; every need when it comes he fills.
34 Nel tempo della distruzione metteran fuori la loro forza e placheranno il furore di chi li ha fatti.	34 No cause then to say: "This is not as good as that"; for each shows its worth at the proper time.
35 Il fuoco, la grandine, la fame, la morte, tutte queste cose son create per castigo;	35 So now with full joy of heart proclaim and bless the name of the Holy One.
36 I denti delle fiere, gli scorpioni, i serpenti e la spada vendicatrice a sterminio degli empi.
37 Al suo comando esulteranno, staran sulla terra pronte al bisogno, e, venuto il tempo, non trasgrediranno i suoi comandi.
38 Per questo fin da principio ne restai persuaso, tenni meco consiglio, riflettei e ho lasciato scritto.
39 Tutte le opere del Signore sono buone, e ciascuna opera a suo tempo servirà a qualche cosa.
40 Non si può dire: « Questa cosa è peggiore di quella », perchè tutte le cose a loro tempo saran trovate buone.
41 Or voi con tutto il cuore e colla bocca lodate insieme e benedite il nome del Signore.
