BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Alleluia! Celebrate il Signore e invocate il suo nome, annunziate tra le Genti le opere sue.	1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
2 Cantate a lui e a lui inneggiate, raccontate tutte le sue meraviglie.	2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
3 Gloriatevi del nome santo di lui, si rallegri il cuore di quei che cercano il Signore.	3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
4 Cercate il Signore e confortatevi, cercate la faccia di lui sempre.	4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
5 Ricordate le meraviglie ch'egli fece, i suoi prodigi e i giudizi della sua bocca,	5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
6 [voi,] progenie di Abramo, servi di lui, figli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti.	6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
7 Egli, il Signore è nostro Dio, su tutta la terra [si stendono] i suoi giudizi.	7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
8 E' rammenta in eterno il suo patto, la parola ch'egli sancì per mille generazioni,	8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
9 [l'accordo] che stabilì con Abramoe il suo giuramento ad Isacco.	9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
10 E lo confermò a Giacobbe come legge e ad Israele come patto eterno,	10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
11 dicendo: «A te darò la terra di Canaan, [qual] porzione del vostro retaggio».	11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
12 Quand'erano in piccol numero, pochissimi e stranieri in quella [regione],	12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
13 e passavan di popolo in popoloe da un regno ad un'altra nazione,	13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
14 non lasciò che alcuno li maltrattasse, e punì de' re a cagion loro:	14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
15 «Non toccate i miei consacrati, ai miei profeti non fate del male!».	15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
16 E chiamò la fame sul paese, e ogni sostentamento di pane infranse.	16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
17 Mandò innanzi a loro un uomo [in Egitto]: per schiavo fu venduto Giuseppe.	17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
18 Umiliarono ne' ceppi i suoi piedi, ne' ferri fu stretta l'anima sua;	18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
19 sino a che s'avverò la sua parola, [e] l'oracolo del Signore la comprovò.	19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
20 Il re mandò [allora] a scioglierlo, il sovrano de' popoli a liberarlo.	20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
21 Lo costituì signore della sua casa, e soprintendente di tutti i suoi possessi,	21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
22 perchè ammaestrasse i suoi principi secondo il suo senno, e ai suoi anziani insegnasse la prudenza.	22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
23 E venne Israele in Egittoe Giacobbe emigrò nella terra di Cam.	23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
24 E [il Signore] moltiplicò grandemente il suo popolo, e lo fece più forte de' suoi nemici.	24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
25 Mutò il cuor di costoro, sicchè odiassero il suo popolo e usassero perfidia contro i suoi servi.	25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
26 Mandò Mosè, suo servo, [e] Aronne, da sè eletto.	26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
27 Operò con la parola loro i suoi portenti e i prodigi nella terra di Cam.	27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
28 Mandò le tenebre e fece buio, e non inasprì i suoi detti.	28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
29 Mutò le acque loro in sangue, e uccise i loro pesci.	29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
30 La lor terra dette fuori ranocchi[fin] negli appartamenti de' loro re.	30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
31 Comandò e vennero i tafànie le zanzare per tutto il loro paese.	31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
32 Per lor pioggia mandò la grandine, fuoco ardente sulla lor terra.	32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
33 E colpì le lor vigne e i fichi loroe infranse gli alberi del loro paese.	33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
34 Comandò e venner locuste e cavallette senza numero,	34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
35 e divorarono tutta l'erba nella loro regione e divorarono tutto il frutto della terra loro.	35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
36 E colpì ogni primogenito nella loro regione, le primizie d'ogni lor vigore.
37 E [i suoi] li trasse fuori carichi d'oro e d'argento, nè c'era nelle loro tribù nessun languente.
38 Si rallegrò l'Egitto per la loro partenza, perché il timore di loro era piombato sovr'essi.
39 Stese una nuvola a loro schermo e [accese] un fuoco che gl'illuminasse la notte.
40 Chiesero, e venner le quaglie, e con pane del cielo li satollò.
41 Spaccò la rupe e sgorgaron le acque, corsero nel deserto [a mo' di] fiumi.
42 Perchè si ricordò della sua santa parola che aveva dato ad Abramo suo servo.
43 E trasse fuori il suo popolo nell'esultanza e i suoi eletti nell'allegrezza.
44 E diede loro le regioni delle genti, e le fatiche de' popoli essi ereditarono;
45 perchè osservassero i suoi precetti e la sua legge ricercassero. [Alleluia!]
