1 Non fare il male, perché il male non ti prenda.	1 Do no evil, and evil will not overtake you;
2 Stai lontano dall’iniquità ed essa si allontanerà da te.	2 avoid wickedness, and it will turn aside from you.
3 Figlio, non seminare nei solchi dell’ingiustizia per non raccoglierne sette volte tanto.	3 Sow not in the furrows of injustice, lest you harvest it sevenfold.
4 Non domandare al Signore il potere né al re un posto di onore.	4 Seek not from the LORD authority, nor from the king a place of honor.
5 Non farti giusto davanti al Signore né saggio davanti al re.	5 Parade not your justice before the Lord, and before the king flaunt not your wisdom.
6 Non cercare di divenire giudice se ti manca la forza di estirpare l’ingiustizia, perché temeresti di fronte al potente e getteresti una macchia sulla tua retta condotta.	6 Seek not to become a judge if you have not strength to root out crime, Or you will show favor to the ruler and mar your integrity.
7 Non fare soprusi contro l’assemblea della città e non degradarti in mezzo al popolo.	7 Be guilty of no evil before the city's populace, nor disgrace yourself before the assembly.
8 Non ti impigliare due volte nel peccato, perché neppure di uno resterai impunito.	8 Do not plot to repeat a sin; not even for one will you go unpunished.
9 Non dire: «Egli guarderà all’abbondanza dei miei doni, e quando farò l’offerta al Dio altissimo, egli l’accetterà».	9 Say not: "He will appreciate my many gifts; the Most High will accept my offerings."
10 Non essere incostante nella tua preghiera e non trascurare di fare elemosina.	10 Be not impatient in prayers, and neglect not the giving of alms.
11 Non deridere un uomo dall’animo amareggiato, perché c’è chi umilia e innalza.	11 Laugh not at an embittered man; be mindful of him who exalts and humbles.
12 Non seminare menzogne contro tuo fratello e non fare qualcosa di simile all’amico.	12 Plot no mischief against your brother, nor against your friend and companion.
13 Non ricorrere mai alla menzogna: è un’abitudine che non porta alcun bene.	13 Delight not in telling lie after lie, for it never results in good.
14 Non parlare troppo nell’assemblea degli anziani e non ripetere le parole della tua preghiera.	14 Thrust not yourself into the deliberations of princes, and repeat not the words of your prayer.
15 Non disprezzare il lavoro faticoso, in particolare l’agricoltura che Dio ha istituito.	15 Hate not laborious tasks, nor farming, which was ordained by the Most High.
16 Non unirti alla moltitudine dei peccatori, ricòrdati che la collera divina non tarderà.	16 Do not esteem yourself better than your fellows; remember, his wrath will not delay.
17 Umìliati profondamente, perché castigo dell’empio sono fuoco e vermi.	17 More and more, humble your pride; what awaits man is worms.
18 Non cambiare un amico per interesse né un vero fratello per l’oro di Ofir.	18 Barter not a friend for money, nor a dear brother for the gold of Ophir.
19 Non disdegnare una sposa saggia e buona, poiché la sua amabilità vale più dell’oro.	19 Dismiss not a sensible wife; a gracious wife is more precious than corals.
20 Non maltrattare un servo che lavora fedelmente né l’operaio che si impegna totalmente.	20 Mistreat not a servant who faithfully serves, nor a laborer who devotes himself to his task.
21 Ama il servo intelligente e non rifiutargli la libertà.	21 Let a wise servant be dear to you as your own self; refuse him not his freedom.
22 Hai bestiame? Abbine cura; se ti è utile, resti in tuo possesso.	22 If you have livestock, look after them; if they are dependable, keep them.
23 Hai figli? Educali e fa’ loro piegare il collo fin dalla giovinezza.	23 If you have sons, chastise them; bend their necks from childhood.
24 Hai figlie? Vigila sul loro corpo e non mostrare loro un volto troppo indulgente.	24 If you have daughters, keep them chaste, and be not indulgent to them.
25 Fa’ sposare tua figlia e avrai compiuto un grande affare, ma dàlla a un uomo assennato.	25 Giving your daughter in marriage ends a great task; but give her to a worthy man.
26 Hai una moglie secondo il tuo cuore? Non ripudiarla, ma se non le vuoi bene, non fidarti.	26 If you have a wife, let her not seem odious to you; but where there is ill-feeling, trust her not.
27 Onora tuo padre con tutto il cuore e non dimenticare le doglie di tua madre.	27 With your whole heart honor your father; your mother's birthpangs forget not.
28 Ricorda che essi ti hanno generato: che cosa darai loro in cambio di quanto ti hanno dato?	28 Remember, of these parents you were born; what can you give them for all they gave you?
29 Con tutta l’anima temi il Signore e abbi riverenza per i suoi sacerdoti.	29 With all your soul, fear God, revere his priests.
30 Ama con tutta la forza chi ti ha creato e non trascurare i suoi ministri.	30 With all your strength, love your Creator, forsake not his ministers.
31 Temi il Signore e onora il sacerdote, dàgli la sua parte, come ti è stato comandato: primizie, sacrifici di riparazione, offerta delle spalle, vittima di santificazione e primizie delle cose sante.	31 Honor God and respect the priest; give him his portion as you have been commanded: First fruits and contributions, due sacrifices and holy offerings.
32 Anche al povero tendi la tua mano, perché sia perfetta la tua benedizione.	32 To the poor man also extend your hand, that your blessing may be complete;
33 La tua generosità si estenda a ogni vivente, ma anche al morto non negare la tua pietà.	33 Be generous to all the living, and withhold not your kindness from the dead.
34 Non evitare coloro che piangono e con gli afflitti móstrati afflitto.	34 Avoid not those who weep, but mourn with those who mourn;
35 Non esitare a visitare un malato, perché per questo sarai amato.	35 Neglect not to visit the sick-- for these things you will be loved.
36 In tutte le tue opere ricòrdati della tua fine e non cadrai mai nel peccato.	36 In whatever you do, remember your last days, and you will never sin.
