1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide.' Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, - lo dica Israele -	1 [Song of Ascents Of David] If Yahweh had not been on our side -- let Israel repeat it-
2 se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, quando uomini ci assalirono,	2 if Yahweh had not been on our side when people attacked us,
3 ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, nel furore della loro ira.	3 they would have swal owed us alive in the heat of their anger.
4 Le acque ci avrebbero travolti; un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi,	4 Then water was washing us away, a torrent running right over us;
5 ci avrebbero travolti acque impetuose.	5 running right over us then were turbulent waters.
6 Sia benedetto il Signore, che non ci ha lasciati, in preda ai loro denti.	6 Blessed be Yahweh for not letting us fall a prey to their teeth!
7 Noi siamo stati liberati come un uccello dal laccio dei cacciatori: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo scampati.	7 We escaped like a bird from the fowlers' net. The net was broken and we escaped;
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore che ha fatto cielo e terra.	8 our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
