1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide.' Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, - lo dica Israele -	1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 se il Signore non fosse stato con noi, quando uomini ci assalirono,	2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, nel furore della loro ira.	3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Le acque ci avrebbero travolti; un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi,	4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 ci avrebbero travolti acque impetuose.	5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Sia benedetto il Signore, che non ci ha lasciati, in preda ai loro denti.	6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Noi siamo stati liberati come un uccello dal laccio dei cacciatori: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo scampati.	7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore che ha fatto cielo e terra.	8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
