Psalmen 104

1 Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele! Herr, mein Gott, wie groß bist du! Du bist mit Hoheit und Pracht bekleidet.	1 Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, thou art very great! Thou art clothed with honor and majesty,
2 Du hüllst dich in Licht wie in ein Kleid, du spannst den Himmel aus wie ein Zelt.	2 who coverest thyself with light as with a garment, who hast stretched out the heavens like a tent,
3 Du verankerst die Balken deiner Wohnung im Wasser. Du nimmst dir die Wolken zum Wagen, du fährst einher auf den Flügeln des Sturmes.	3 who hast laid the beams of thy chambers on the waters, who makest the clouds thy chariot, who ridest on the wings of the wind,
4 Du machst dir die Winde zu Boten und lodernde Feuer zu deinen Dienern.	4 who makest the winds thy messengers, fire and flame thy ministers.
5 Du hast die Erde auf Pfeiler gegründet; in alle Ewigkeit wird sie nicht wanken.	5 Thou didst set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be shaken.
6 Einst hat die Urflut sie bedeckt wie ein Kleid, die Wasser standen über den Bergen.	6 Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
7 Sie wichen vor deinem Drohen zurück, sie flohen vor der Stimme deines Donners.	7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the sound of thy thunder they took to flight.
8 Da erhoben sich Berge und senkten sich Täler an den Ort, den du für sie bestimmt hast.	8 The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place which thou didst appoint for them.
9 Du hast den Wassern eine Grenze gesetzt, die dürfen sie nicht überschreiten; nie wieder sollen sie die Erde bedecken.	9 Thou didst set a bound which they should not pass, so that they might not again cover the earth.
10 Du lässt die Quellen hervorsprudeln in den Tälern, sie eilen zwischen den Bergen dahin.	10 Thou makest springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills,
11 Allen Tieren des Feldes spenden sie Trank, die Wildesel stillen ihren Durst daraus.	11 they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.
12 An den Ufern wohnen die Vögel des Himmels, aus den Zweigen erklingt ihr Gesang.	12 By them the birds of the air have their habitation; they sing among the branches.
13 Du tränkst die Berge aus deinen Kammern, aus deinen Wolken wird die Erde satt.	13 From thy lofty abode thou waterest the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy work.
14 Du lässt Gras wachsen für das Vieh, auch Pflanzen für den Menschen, die er anbaut,damit er Brot gewinnt von der Erde	14 Thou dost cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth,
15 und Wein, der das Herz des Menschen erfreut, damit sein Gesicht von Öl erglänzt und Brot das Menschenherz stärkt.	15 and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread to strengthen man's heart.
16 Die Bäume des Herrn trinken sich satt, die Zedern des Libanon, die er gepflanzt hat.	16 The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted.
17 In ihnen bauen die Vögel ihr Nest, auf den Zypressen nistet der Storch.	17 In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees.
18 Die hohen Berge gehören dem Steinbock, dem Klippdachs bieten die Felsen Zuflucht.	18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the badgers.
19 Du hast den Mond gemacht als Maß für die Zeiten, die Sonne weiß, wann sie untergeht.	19 Thou hast made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.
20 Du sendest Finsternis und es wird Nacht, dann regen sich alle Tiere des Waldes.	20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep forth.
21 Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach Beute, sie verlangen von Gott ihre Nahrung.	21 The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God.
22 Strahlt die Sonne dann auf, so schleichen sie heim und lagern sich in ihren Verstecken.	22 When the sun rises, they get them away and lie down in their dens.
23 Nun geht der Mensch hinaus an sein Tagwerk, an seine Arbeit bis zum Abend.	23 Man goes forth to his work and to his labor until the evening.
24 Herr, wie zahlreich sind deine Werke! Mit Weisheit hast du sie alle gemacht, die Erde ist voll von deinen Geschöpfen.	24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all; the earth is full of thy creatures.
25 Da ist das Meer, so groß und weit, darin ein Gewimmel ohne Zahl: kleine und große Tiere.	25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide, which teems with things innumerable, living things both small and great.
26 Dort ziehen die Schiffe dahin, auch der Leviítan, den du geformt hast, um mit ihm zu spielen.	26 There go the ships, and Leviathan which thou didst form to sport in it.
27 Sie alle warten auf dich, dass du ihnen Speise gibst zur rechten Zeit.	27 These all look to thee, to give them their food in due season.
28 Gibst du ihnen, dann sammeln sie ein; öffnest du deine Hand, werden sie satt an Gutem.	28 When thou givest to them, they gather it up; when thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good things.
29 Verbirgst du dein Gesicht, sind sie verstört; nimmst du ihnen den Atem, so schwinden sie hin und kehren zurück zum Staub der Erde.	29 When thou hidest thy face, they are dismayed; when thou takest away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
30 Sendest du deinen Geist aus, so werden sie alle erschaffen und du erneuerst das Antlitz der Erde.	30 When thou sendest forth thy Spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the ground.
31 Ewig währe die Herrlichkeit des Herrn; der Herr freue sich seiner Werke.	31 May the glory of the LORD endure for ever, may the LORD rejoice in his works,
32 Er blickt auf die Erde und sie erbebt; er rührt die Berge an und sie rauchen.	32 who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke!
33 Ich will dem Herrn singen, solange ich lebe, will meinem Gott spielen, solange ich da bin.	33 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
34 Möge ihm mein Dichten gefallen. Ich will mich freuen am Herrn.	34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
35 Doch die Sünder sollen von der Erde verschwinden und es sollen keine Frevler mehr da sein. Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele! Halleluja!	35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!
