BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Simon e figlio di Onia, gran sacerdote, durante la sua vita riparò la casa, e nei suoi giorni restaurò il tempio.	1 It was the High Priest Simon son of Onias who repaired the Temple during his lifetime and in his day fortified the sanctuary.
2 Fu pure lui che diede fondamenti all'altezza del tempio, col doppio muro e le alte muraglie del tempio.	2 He laid the foundations of double depth, the high buttresses of the Temple precincts.
3 Ai suoi giorni scaturirono i serbatoi delle acque e furon ripieni oltremodo come mare.	3 In his day the pool was excavated, a reservoir as huge as the sea.
4 Egli ebbe cura del suo popolo e lo liberò dalla rovina.	4 Anxious to save the people from ruin, he fortified the city against siege.
5 Egli giunse ad ingrandire la città, si acquistò gloria nelle relazioni colla nazione, ed ampliò l'ingresso della casa e dell'atrio.	5 How splendid he was with the people thronging round him, when he emerged from the curtained shrine,
6 Come la stella del mattino tra la nebbia, come splendida luna nei giorni della sua pienezza,	6 like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon at the ful ,

11 come olivo che mignola, come cipresso che si eleva in alto, così (Simone pareva) quando indossava le gloriose vesti e si metteva tutti i suoi ornamenti.	11 when he took his ceremonial robe and put on his magnificent ornaments, when he went up to the holyaltar and fil ed the sanctuary precincts with his grandeur;
12 Quando saliva all'altare santo faceva onore alle vesti della santità.	12 when he received the portions from the hands of the priests, himself standing by the altar hearth,crowned with the circle of his brothers, as a cedar of Lebanon is by its foliage, as though surrounded by thetrunks of palm trees.
13 Quando riceveva le parti della vittima dalle mani dei sacerdoti, e stava in piedi presso l'altare, circondato dalla corona dei fratelli, come polloni del cedro del monte Libano,	13 When all the sons of Aaron in their glory, with the offerings of the Lord in their hands, stood before thewhole assembly of Israel,

15 Tenevano nelle mani l'oblazione del Signore, in presenza di tutta l'adunanza. d'Israele; ed egli compiendo il sacrifizio, per rendere più solenne l'oblazione al re eccelso,	15 He would reach out his hand to the cup and pour a libation of wine, pouring it at the foot of the altar, afragrance pleasing to the Most High, King of All;
16 stendeva la mano per la libazione, e versava il sangue dell'uva,	16 then the sons of Aaron would shout and blow their metal trumpets, making a mighty sound ring out asa reminder before the Most High;
17 e spandeva ai piè dell'altare l'odore divino al principe eccelso.	17 and immediately the people al together would fal on their faces to the ground, in adoration of theirLord, the Almighty, God Most High,
18 Allora i figli di Aronne alzavan le loro voci e sonavano le trombe di metallo battuto, e facevan sentire grande concento, memoriale davanti a Dio.	18 and with the cantors chanting their hymns of praise. Sweet was the melody of al these voices,
19 Allora tutto il popolo insieme con rapida mossa, si gettava colla faccia per terra ad adorare il Signore suo Dio, ad offrir le sue preghiere all'onnipotente eccelso Dio.	19 as the people pleaded with the Lord Most High and prayed in the presence of the Merciful, until theservice of the Lord was completed and the ceremony at an end.
20 E quelli che salmeggiavano alzavano le loro voci, e nella gran casa cresceva il concento pieno di soavità;	20 Then he would come down and raise his hands over the whole assembly of the Israelites, to give themthe Lord's blessing from his lips, being privileged to pronounce his name;
21 e il popolo pregava il Signore Altissimo finché non fosse terminato il culto del Signore e compiuto il sacro ministero.	21 and once again the people would bow low to receive the blessing of the Most High.
22 Allora (Simone) scendendo dall'altare, alzava le sue mani sopra tutta l'adunanza d'Israele e dava gloria a Dio coi suoi labbri, e si gloriava nel nome di lui,	22 And now bless the God of al things, the doer of great deeds everywhere, who has exalted our daysfrom the womb and has acted merciful y towards us.
23 e rinnovava la sua orazione, volendo mostrare la potenza di Dio.	23 May he grant us cheerful hearts and bring peace in our time, in Israel for ages on ages.
24 Or dunque pregate il Dio dell'universo, il quale ha fatto grandi cose in tutta la terra, ha moltiplicati i nostri giorni dal seno della nostra madre, e ci ha trattati secondo la sua misericordia,	24 May his mercy be faithfully with us, may he redeem us in our own times!
25 affinehè ci dia la gioia del cuore, e faccia regnare in Israele la pace ai nostri giorni e per sempre,	25 There are two nations that my soul detests, the third is not a nation at al :
26 e Israele creda che la misericordia di Dio è con noi per liberarci ai suo tempo.	26 the inhabitants of Mount Seir, the Philistines, and the stupid people living at Shechem.
