| 1 Portata adunque l'arca di Dio, la collocarono in mezzo al Tabernacolo che David aveva teso, e offersero olocausti e ostie pacifi che dinanzi a Dio. | 1 And they brought the ark of God, and set it inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. |
| 2 Quando David ebbe finito di offrire gli olocausti e le ostie pacifiche, benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore, | 2 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD, |
| 3 e distribuì a ciascuno in particolare, tanto agli uomini che alle donne, una torta di pane, un pezzo di carne di bue arrostita e del fior di farina fritta coll'olio. | 3 and distributed to all Israel, both men and women, to each a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins. |
| 4 E stabilì dei leviti dinanzi all'arca del Signore, a prestare servizio, a ricordare le sue opere, a glorificare e lodare il Signore Dio d'Israele. | 4 Moreover he appointed certain of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the LORD, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel. |
| 5 Asaf era il primo, Zaccaria il secondo, venivan poi Iahiel, Semiramot, Iehiel, Matatia, Eliab, Banaia, Obededom: Iehiel per suonare i salteri e le lire; Asaf per suonare i cembali; | 5 Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Je-iel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Je-iel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals, |
| 6 Banaia e Iaziel sacerdoti per suonare in ogni tempo la tromba dinanzi all'arca dell'alleanza del Signore. | 6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God. |
| 7 In quel giorno David costituì Asaf primo cantore per cantare coi suoi fratelli le lodi del Signore. | 7 Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the LORD by Asaph and his brethren. |
| 8 Lodate il Signore, invocate il suo nome, fate conoscere fra i popoli le sue opere. | 8 O give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples! |
| 9 A lui cantate, a lui salmeggiate, e raccontate tutte le sue maraviglie. | 9 Sing to him, sing praises to him, tell of all his wonderful works! |
| 10 Lodate il suo santo nome, si rallegri il cuore di coloro che cercano il Signore: | 10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! |
| 11 cercate il Signore e la sua forza, cercate sempre la sua faccia. | 11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually! |
| 12 Ricordatevi delle maraviglie da lui fatte, dei suoi prodigi, dei giudizi della sua bocca, | 12 Remember the wonderful works that he has done, the wonders he wrought, the judgments he uttered, |
| 13 voi, o posterità d'Israele suo servo, o figli di Giacobbe suo eletto. | 13 O offspring of Abraham his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! |
| 14 Egli è il Signore nostro Dio; rende giustizia su tutta la terra, | 14 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. |
| 15 Ricordatevi in eterno del suo patto della parola che ha ordinato per mille generazioni, | 15 He is mindful of his covenant for ever, of the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, |
| 16 del suo patto con Abramo, del suo giuramento con Isacco. | 16 the covenant which he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, |
| 17 Lo confermò a Giacobbe come legge, come patto eterno per Israele, | 17 which he confirmed as a statute to Jacob, as an everlasting covenant to Israel, |
| 18 dicendo: « A te darò il paese di Canaan, come parte della vostra eredità ». | 18 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, as your portion for an inheritance." |
| 19 Quando eran pochi di numero, un pugno e stranieri nel paese, | 19 When they were few in number, and of little account, and sojourners in it, |
| 20 e passavan di gente in gente e da un regno ad un altro popolo, | 20 wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, |
| 21 egli non permise a nessuno d'inquietarli, anzi a causa di loro punì dei re. | 21 he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, |
| 22 « Non toccate i miei unti, non fate del male ai miei profeti ». | 22 saying, "Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!" |
| 23 Voi di tutta la terra, cantate al Signore, annunziate di giorno in giorno la sua salvezza, | 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. |
| 24 raccontate fra le genti la sua gloria, le sue maraviglie fra tutti i popoli; | 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! |
| 25 sperchè il Signore è grande e degno d'infinita lode, più terribile di tutti gli dèi: | 25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be held in awe above all gods. |
| 26 tutti gli dèi dei popoli non sono che idoli; ma il Signore ha fatto i cieli. | 26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols; but the LORD made the heavens. |
| 27 La gloria e la magnificenza gli stan davanti, la forza e la gioia sono ov'è lui. | 27 Honor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. |
| 28 Date al Signore, o famiglie dei popoli, date al Signore gloria e potenza, | 28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! |
| 29 date al Signore la gloria dovuta al suo nome, portate un sacrifizio e venite al suo cospetto, adorate il Signore in santo decoro. | 29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come before him! Worship the LORD in holy array; |
| 30 Tremi dinanzi alla sua faccia tutta la terra; perchè fu lui che diede stabili fondamenti all'universo. | 30 tremble before him, all the earth; yea, the world stands firm, never to be moved. |
| 31 Giubilino i cieli ed esulti la terra, si dica fra le nazioni: « Regna il Signore! » | 31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!" |
| 32 Rumoreggi il mare con tutto quel che contiene, esultino i campi con tutto quello che in essi si trova. | 32 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it, let the field exult, and everything in it! |
| 33 Allora le piante della foresta canteranno lodi dinanzi al Signore, perchè è venuto a giudicare la terra. | 33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. |
| 34 Date gloria al Signore, perchè egli è buono, perchè dura in eterno la sua misericordia. | 34 O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures for ever! |
| 35 E dite: « Salvaci, o Dio nostro salvatore, raccoglici e liberaci dalle nazioni, affinchè possiamo dar gloria al tuo santo nome ed esultare nei tuoi cantici ». | 35 Say also: "Deliver us, O God of our salvation, and gather and save us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise. |
| 36 Benedetto il Signore Dio d'Israele d'eternità in eternità e tutto il popolo dica: « Amen » e l'inno al Signore. | 36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!" Then all the people said "Amen!" and praised the LORD. |
| 37 Poi David lasciò lì, davanti all'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, Asaf e i suoi fratelli, a prestar di continuo servizio dinanzi all'arca, ogni giorno, e ciascuno a suo turno; | 37 So David left Asaph and his brethren there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister continually before the ark as each day required, |
| 38 Obededom e i suoi fratelli, in numero di sessantotto: Obededom, figlio d'iditun, e Hosa li fece portinai. | 38 and also Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brethren; while Obed-edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers. |
| 39 Pose il sacerdote Sadoc e i suoi fratelli sacerdoti davanti al Tabernacolo del Signore, sull'alto luogo che era in Gabaon, | 39 And he left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon, |
| 40 a offrire continuamente, mattina e sera, olocausti sopra l'altare degli olocausti, secondo tutto quello che sta scritto nella legge del Signore prescritta a Israele. | 40 to offer burnt offerings to the LORD upon the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the LORD which he commanded Israel. |
| 41 Dopo lui eran Heman, Iditun e gli altri scelti nominata mente a « lodare il Signore, perchè la sua misericordia è in eterno ». | 41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures for ever. |
| 42 Heman e Iditun suonavano la tromba e battevano i cembali, toccavano tutti gli strumenti musicali per cantare al Signore. I figli d'Iditun li fece portinai. | 42 Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to the gate. |
| 43 Tutto il popolo se ne tornò a casa sua, e anche David, per benedire anche la sua casa. | 43 Then all the people departed each to his house, and David went home to bless his household. |
