Proverbi 14

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La donna saggia costruisce la sua casa, quella stolta la demolisce con le proprie mani.	1 Wisdom builds herself a house; with her own hands Folly pul s it down.
2 Cammina nella propria giustizia chi teme il Signore, ma chi è traviato nelle proprie vie lo disprezza.	2 Whoever keeps to an honest course fears Yahweh, whoever deserts his paths shows contempt forhim.
3 Nella bocca dello stolto c’è il germoglio della superbia, ma le labbra dei saggi sono la loro salvaguardia.	3 Pride sprouts in the mouth of the fool, the lips of the wise keep them safe.
4 Se non ci sono buoi la greppia è vuota, l’abbondanza del raccolto sta nel vigore del toro.	4 No oxen, empty manger; strong bul , much cash.
5 Il testimone sincero non mentisce, chi proferisce menzogne è testimone falso.	5 The truthful witness tells no lies, the false witness lies with every breath.
6 Lo spavaldo ricerca la sapienza ma invano, la scienza è cosa facile per l’intelligente.	6 In vain the mocker looks for wisdom, knowledge comes easy to the intel igent.
7 Stai lontano dall’uomo stolto: in lui non troverai labbra sapienti.	7 Keep wel clear of the fool, you wil not find wise lips there.
8 Il sapiente avveduto conosce la sua strada, ma la stoltezza degli sciocchi è inganno.	8 With people of discretion, wisdom keeps a watch over their conduct, but the fol y of fools leads themastray.
9 Tra gli stolti risiede la colpa, tra i giusti dimora la benevolenza.	9 Fools mock at the sacrifice for sin, but favour resides among the honest.
10 Il cuore conosce la propria amarezza e alla sua gioia non partecipa l’estraneo.	10 The heart knows its own grief best, nor can a stranger share its joy.
11 La casa degli empi sarà abbattuta, ma la tenda dei giusti prospererà.	11 The house of the wicked wil be destroyed, the tent of the honest wil prosper.
12 C’è una via che sembra diritta per l’uomo, ma alla fine conduce su sentieri di morte.	12 There are ways that some think straight, but they lead in the end to death.
13 Anche nel riso il cuore prova dolore e la gioia può finire in pena.	13 Even in laughter the heart finds sadness, and joy makes way for sorrow.
14 Il perverso si sazia della sua condotta, l’uomo buono delle sue opere.	14 The miscreant wil reap the reward of his conduct, and the good the reward of his deeds.
15 L’ingenuo crede a ogni parola, ma chi è avveduto controlla i propri passi.	15 The simpleton believes any message, a person of discretion treads a careful path.
16 Il saggio teme e sta lontano dal male, lo stolto invece è impulsivo e si sente sicuro.	16 The wise fears evil and avoids it, the fool is insolent and conceited.
17 Chi è pronto all’ira commette sciocchezze, il malintenzionato si rende odioso.	17 A quick-tempered person commits rash acts, but a schemer is detestable.
18 Gli inesperti ereditano la stoltezza, gli accorti si coronano di scienza.	18 Simpletons have folly for their portion, people of discretion knowledge for their crown.
19 I cattivi si inchinano davanti ai buoni, i malvagi davanti alle porte del giusto.	19 The evil bow down before the good, the wicked, at the gates of the upright.
20 Il povero è odioso anche a chi gli è pari, ma numerosi sono gli amici del ricco.	20 The poor is detestable even to a friend, but many are they who love someone rich.
21 Chi disprezza il prossimo pecca, beato chi ha pietà degli umili.	21 One who despises the needy is at fault, one who takes pity on the poor is blessed.
22 Non errano forse quelli che compiono il male? Amore e fedeltà per quanti compiono il bene.	22 Plan evil -- isn't this to go astray? Those who plan for good can earn faithful love and constancy.
23 In ogni fatica c’è un vantaggio, ma le chiacchiere portano solo miseria.	23 Hard work always yields its profit, idle talk brings only want.
24 Corona dei saggi è la loro ricchezza, la follia degli stolti produce solo follia.	24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the fol y of fools is folly.
25 È salvezza per molti il testimone veritiero, ma chi proferisce menzogne è un impostore.	25 A truthful witness saves lives, whoever utters lies is a deceiver.
26 Nel timore del Signore sta la fiducia del forte; anche per i suoi figli egli sarà un rifugio.	26 In the fear of Yahweh is powerful security; for his children he is a refuge.
27 Il timore del Signore è fonte di vita per sfuggire ai lacci della morte.	27 The fear of Yahweh is a life-giving spring for eluding the snares of death.
28 Un popolo numeroso è la gloria del re, ma la scarsità di gente è la rovina del principe.	28 Large population, monarch's glory; dwindling population, ruler's ruin.
29 Chi è paziente ha grande prudenza, chi è iracondo mostra stoltezza.	29 Mastery of temper is high proof of intel igence, a quick temper makes fol y worse than ever.
30 Un cuore tranquillo è la vita del corpo, l’invidia è la carie delle ossa.	30 The life of the body is a tranquil heart, but envy is a cancer in the bones.
31 Chi opprime il povero offende il suo creatore, chi ha pietà del misero lo onora.	31 To oppress the weak insults the Creator, kindness to the needy honours the Creator.
32 Dalla propria cattiveria è travolto il malvagio, anche nella morte il giusto trova rifugio.	32 For evil-doing, the wicked wil be flung headlong, but in integrity the upright wil find refuge.
33 In un cuore intelligente risiede la sapienza, ma in mezzo agli stolti verrà riconosciuta?	33 Wisdom resides in an understanding heart; she is not to be found in the hearts of fools.
34 La giustizia esalta una nazione, ma il peccato è la vergogna dei popoli.	34 Uprightness makes a nation great, by sin whole races are disgraced.
35 Il favore del re è per il ministro intelligente, la sua ira è per l’indegno.	35 A king shows favour to a wise minister, but anger to one who shames him.
