1 'Canto delle ascensioni.' Dalla giovinezza molto mi hanno perseguitato, - lo dica Israele -	1 A Canticle in steps. From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord.
2 dalla giovinezza molto mi hanno perseguitato, ma non hanno prevalso.	2 O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
3 Sul mio dorso hanno arato gli aratori, hanno fatto lunghi solchi.	3 If you, O Lord, were to heed iniquities, who, O Lord, could persevere?
4 Il Signore è giusto: ha spezzato il giogo degli empi.	4 For with you, there is forgiveness, and because of your law, I persevered with you, Lord. My soul has persevered in his word.
5 Siano confusi e volgano le spalle quanti odiano Sion.	5 My soul has hoped in the Lord.
6 Siano come l'erba dei tetti: prima che sia strappata, dissecca;	6 From the morning watch, even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
7 non se ne riempie la mano il mietitore, né il grembo chi raccoglie covoni.	7 For with the Lord there is mercy, and with him there is bountiful redemption.
8 I passanti non possono dire: "La benedizione del Signore sia su di voi, vi benediciamo nel nome del Signore".	8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
