| 14 E avverrà: come una gazzella smarrita e come un gregge che nessuno raduna, ognuno si dirigerà verso il suo popolo ognuno correrà verso la sua terra. | 14 Like a hunted gazelle, or a flock that no one gathers, Every man shall turn to his kindred and flee to his own land. |
| 15 Quanti saranno trovati saranno trafitti, quanti saranno presi periranno di spada, | 15 Everyone who is caught shall be run through; to a man, they shall fall by the sword. |
| 16 I loro pargoli saranno sfracellati davanti ai loro occhi; saranno saccheggiate le loro case, disonorate le loro mogli. | 16 Their infants shall be dashed to pieces in their sight; their houses shall be plundered and their wives ravished. |
| 17 Ecco, io eccito contro di loro i Medi, che non pensano all’argento nè si curano dell’oro. | 17 I am stirring up against them the Medes, who think nothing of silver and take no delight in gold. |
| 18 Tutti i giovani saranno massacrati, le giovinette saranno maciullate; non avranno pietà dei piccoli appena nati, i loro occhi non si impietosiranno per i bambini. | 18 The fruit of the womb they shall not spare, nor shall they have eyes of pity for children. |
| 19 Babilonia, la perla dei regni, lo splendore orgoglioso dei Caldei, sarà come Sodoma e Gomorra sconvolte da Dio. | 19 And Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory and pride of the Chaldeans, Shall be overthrown by God like Sodom and like Gomorrah. |
| 20 Non sarà abitata mai più nè popolata di generazione in generazione. L’Arabo non vi pianterà la tenda nè i pastori vi porranno gli stazzi. | 20 She shall never be inhabited, nor dwelt in, from age to age; The Arab shall not pitch his tent there, nor shepherds couch their flocks. |
| 21 Ma vi si stabiliranno animali del deserto, i gufi riempiranno le loro case; vi faranno dimora gli struzzi, vi danzeranno i satiri. | 21 But wildcats shall rest there and owls shall fill the houses; There ostriches shall dwell, and satyrs shall dance. |
| 22 Urleranno le iene nei loro palazzi, gli sciacalli nei loro edifici voluttuosi. La sua ora si avvicina, i suoi giorni non si prolungheranno. | 22 Desert beasts shall howl in her castles, and jackals in her luxurious palaces. Her time is near at hand and her days shall not be prolonged. |
