2 Filii Iapheth: Gomer et Magog et Madai et Iavan et Thubal et Mosoch et Thiras. | 2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. |
3 Porro filii Gomer: Aschenez et Riphath et Thogorma. | 3 And then the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. |
4 Filii autem Iavan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cetthim et Rodanim. | 4 And the sons of Javan were Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim. |
5 Ab his divisae sunt insulae gentium in regionibus suis, unusquisque secundum linguam suam et familias suas in nationibus suis.
| 5 The islands of the Gentiles were divided by these into their regions, each one according to his tongue, and their families in their nations. |
6 Filii autem Cham: Chus et Mesraim et Phut et Chanaan. | 6 And the Sons of Ham were Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan. |

8 Porro Chus genuit Nemrod: ipse coepit esse potens in terra
| 8 And then Cush conceived Nimrod; he began to be powerful on the earth. |

11 De terra illa egressus est in Assyriam et aedificavit Nineven et Rohobothir et Chale, | 11 From that land, Assur came forth, and he built Nineveh, and the streets of the city, and Calah, |
12 Resen quoque inter Nineven et Chale; haec est civitas magna. | 12 and also Resen, between Nineveh and Calah. This is a great city. |
13 At vero Mesraim genuit Ludim et Anamim et Laabim, Nephthuim | 13 And truly, Mizraim conceived Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, Naphtuhim, |
14 et Phetrusim et Chasluim et Caphtorim, de quibus egressi sunt Philisthim. | 14 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim, from whom came forth the Philistines and the Caphtorim. |

17 Hevaeum et Aracaeum, Sinaeum | 17 the Hivite, and the Arkite: the Sinite, |
18 et Aradium, Samaraeum et Emathaeum; et post haec disseminati sunt populi Chananaeorum. | 18 and the Arvadian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite. And after this, the peoples of the Canaanites became widespread. |
19 Factique sunt termini Chanaan venientibus a Sidone Geraram usque Gazam, donec ingrediaris Sodomam et Gomorram et Adamam et Seboim usque Lesa. | 19 And the borders of Chanaan went, as one travels, from Sidon to Gerar, even to Gaza, until one enters Sodom and Gomorrah, and from Admah and Zeboiim, even to Lesa. |
20 Hi sunt filii Cham in cognationibus et linguis terrisque et gentibus suis.
| 20 These are the sons of Ham in their kindred, and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations. |
21 De Sem quoque nati sunt, patre omnium filiorum Heber, fratre Iapheth maiore. | 21 Likewise, from Shem, the father of all the sons of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born. |
22 Filii Sem: Elam et Assur et Arphaxad et Lud et Aram. | 22 The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. |
23 Filii Aram: Us et Hul et Gether et Mes. | 23 The sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. |

25 Natique sunt Heber filii duo: nomen uni Phaleg, eo quod in diebus eius divisa sit terra, et nomen fratris eius Iectan. | 25 And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth became divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan. |
26 Qui Iectan genuit Elmodad et Saleph et Asarmoth, Iare | 26 This Joktan conceived Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, Jerah |
27 et Adoram et Uzal et Decla | 27 and Hadoram, and Uzal and Diklah, |
28 et Ebal et Abimael, Saba | 28 and Obal and Abimael, Sheba |
29 et Ophir et Hevila et Iobab. Omnes isti filii Iectan; | 29 and Ophir, and Havilah and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. |
30 et facta est habitatio eorum de Messa pergentibus usque Sephar montem orientalem.
| 30 And their habitation extended from Messa, as one sojourns, even to Sephar, a mountain in the east. |
31 Isti filii Sem secundum cognationes et linguas et regiones in gentibus suis.
| 31 These are the sons of Shem according to their kindred, and tongues, and the regions within their nations. |
32 Hae familiae filiorum Noe iuxta generationes et nationes suas. Ab his divisae sunt gentes in terra post diluvium.
| 32 These are the families of Noah, according to their peoples and nations. The nations became divided according to these, on the earth after the great flood. |
