| 1 - Così dice il Signore a Ciro mio Unto, che ho preso per la destra per assoggettare a lui le nazioni e far voltare le spalle ai re; aprire davanti a lui le porte e schiudere i serrami: | 1 Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and ungird the loins of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed: |
| 2 «Io andrò innanzi a te e i grandi della terra umilierò; spezzerò le porte di bronzo e le sbarre di ferro infrangerò. | 2 "I will go before you and level the mountains, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron, |
| 3 E ti darò i tesori nascosti e le recondite arche; affinchè tu sappia che sono io il Signore che ti chiamo per nome, il Dio d'Israele. | 3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name. |
| 4 Per amore del mio servo Giacobbe e di Israele mio eletto, ti ho chiamato pel tuo nome, ti ho designato e tu non mi conoscevi. | 4 For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name, I surname you, though you do not know me. |
| 5 Io sono il Signore e non c'è nessun altro; non v'ha Dio fuori di me. Ti ho cinto, e tu non mi conoscevi; | 5 I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I gird you, though you do not know me, |
| 6 affinchè tutti sappiano, da dove nasce il sole fin dove tramonta, che non c'è altri fuori di me. Io sono il Signore, e nessun altro vi è; | 6 that men may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other. |
| 7 io che formo la luce e creo le tenebre, che faccio la pace e creo il male: io sono il Signore che fa tutto questo. | 7 I form light and create darkness, I make weal and create woe, I am the LORD, who do all these things. |
| 8 Stillate, o cieli, dall'alto e le nuvole piovano il giusto; s'apra la terra e germini il salvatore, e nasca insieme la giustizia; io sono il Signore che l'ho creato. | 8 "Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation may sprout forth, and let it cause righteousness to spring up also; I the LORD have created it. |
| 9 Guai a chi contraddice al suo modellatore, vaso, terraglia d'argilla! L'argilla direbbe forse al vasaio: - Che cosa fai, tu non hai la mano a questo lavoro? - | 9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker, an earthen vessel with the potter! Does the clay say to him who fashions it, 'What are you making? or 'Your work has no handles? |
| 10 Guai a chi dice al padre: - Perchè generi tu? - E alla donna: - Perchè partorisci? -». | 10 Woe to him who says to a father, 'What are you begetting?' or to a woman, 'With what are you in travail?" |
| 11 Così dice il Signore il Santo d'Israele, il suo modellatore: «Voi, interrogate me sull'avvenire, sui miei figli, sull'opera delle mie mani chiedete ragione a me? | 11 Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Will you question me about my children, or command me concerning the work of my hands? |
| 12 A me che ho fatto la terra e sopra di essa ho creato l'uomo, che ho disteso colla mia mano i cieli e ho ordinato tutte le schiere del firmamento. | 12 I made the earth, and created man upon it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host. |
| 13 Io ho suscitato lui per la giustizia, e appianerò tutte le sue vie; egli riedificherà la mia città, e rimanderà libero dalla schiavitù il mio popolo, non a prezzo, nè per lauto compenso», dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti. | 13 I have aroused him in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways; he shall build my city and set my exiles free, not for price or reward," says the LORD of hosts. |
| 14 Così dice il Signore: «Le fatiche dell'Egitto, e le merci dell'Etiopia, e i Sabei, uomini dall'alta statura, passeranno a te e saranno tuoi; dietro di te cammineranno legati colle ritorte, e ti adoreranno e ti diranno supplichevoli: - Solo in te c'è Iddio, e fuori di te non c'è altro Dio -». | 14 Thus says the LORD: "The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours, they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying: 'God is with you only, and there is no other, no god besides him.'" |
| 15 Veramente un Dio nascosto sei tu, o Dio d'Israele, Salvatore! | 15 Truly, thou art a God who hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior. |
| 16 Sono rimasti confusi e svergognati, andarono collo scorno tutti ugualmente gli artefici degli idoli bugiardi. | 16 All of them are put to shame and confounded, the makers of idols go in confusion together. |
| 17 Israele è stato salvato dal Signore con salute eterna; non sarete confusi nè arrossirete per tutti i secoli. | 17 But Israel is saved by the LORD with everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or confounded to all eternity. |
| 18 Perchè così dice il Signore che ha creato i cieli, quel Dio che ha plasmato la terra, che l'ha fatta e le ha dato forma e non l'ha lasciata nel caos, formandola per essere abitata: «Io sono il Signore e non ve ne ha altro. | 18 For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it a chaos, he formed it to be inhabited!): "I am the LORD, and there is no other. |
| 19 Io non ho parlato in occulto in qualche luogo oscuro della terra; non ho detto alla stirpe di Giacobbe: - Voi mi cercherete invano, io, il Signore che insegno la giustizia e predico la rettitudine! - | 19 I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, 'Seek me in chaos.' I the LORD speak the truth, I declare what is right. |
| 20 Radunatevi e venite e appressatevi tutti insieme, o scampati di mezzo alle genti: quelli che portano le loro sculture di legno e pregano un Dio che non può salvare, non capiscono nulla. | 20 "Assemble yourselves and come, draw near together, you survivors of the nations! They have no knowledge who carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a god that cannot save. |
| 21 E voi annunziate loro, avvicinateli e conferite insieme: chi mai fece udir questo ab antico e sin d'allora l'ha predetto? non sono io forse, io, il Signore e altro Dio non v'ha fuori di me? Dio giusto e che salvi non c'è fuori di me. | 21 Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me. |
| 22 Rivolgetevi a me da tutte l'estremità della terra e sarete salvi, perchè sono io Iddio, e non ve ne ha altro. | 22 "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. |
| 23 L'ho giurato per me stesso, parola di giustizia che uscirà dalla mia bocca e non tornerà addietro, che a me si piegherà ogni ginocchio, e ogni lingua professerà fede». | 23 By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: 'To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.' |
| 24 Sì, nel Signore, dirà, è la mia giustizia e il mio impero. Verranno a lui e saranno confusi tutti quelli che gli si oppongono. | 24 "Only in the LORD, it shall be said of me, are righteousness and strength; to him shall come and be ashamed, all who were incensed against him. |
| 25 Nel Signore sarà giustificata e glorificata tutta la stirpe d'Israele. | 25 In the LORD all the offspring of Israel shall triumph and glory." |
